  1. And we weren't even going to get the #1 or #2 for that matter, all out of reach come the WFT game so it's such a stupid thing to keep bringing up. NYJ and JAX were never moving their picks. So Wilson and Lawrence would still be off the table. In a way, it saved us from people being butt hurt over us favoring Mac Jones over Fields & Lance and we'll likely get someone just as if not more impactful than who we would have gotten at #3.
  2. As a Hokie, Hokies are such a risk in the NFL and have short shelf lives. Let's just stick with Slater. He's #1 on many's boards for a reason. Pitts & Sewell are the top non-QB targets, then Chase and Slater.
  3. Every fanbase bashes the OL but we didn't grade as awful as some make last year out to be. And we didn't even have a mobile QB: #18 per PFF https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-final-2020-offensive-line-rankings
  4. DJ Moore still not getting the respect he deserves in these takes. You may laugh, but if we land Sewell/Slater at 8 and add a guard mid-rounds, we will have a good line. Paradis being the weak link. They were what low-teens/high-twenties ranked last season? LT: Slater(or)Sewell LG: Daley/Draft/Elf/Erving Paradis RG: Miller/Draft RT: Moton
  5. We do have a lot of chinless chaps in the org these days.
  6. 1-Rashawn Slater LT 2-Asante Samuel Jr. CB 3-(trade up) Rashod Bateman WR 3-Trey Smith OG/T
  7. Strongly disagree. Pride looked really solid at times and had a decent mid-season stretch. Thomas-Oliver looked quite bad and there were a few notable games where the announcers kept mixing the two up.
  8. Outside round 1: Trey Smith is a name at OG we should all be familiar with in R2 or 3. He's going higher than projected. Overall, we could be looking at a big line boost. Also, don't be shocked if we go RB or WR high rounds 1-3. Pitts is gone. It's the top of our board of these three: Slater, Fields, & Chase
  9. Do not underestimate our enthusiasm in Troy Pride as an outside corner. Bouye is patchwork but startable.
  10. I think I've seen this film before, and I didn't like the ending. Woooooooouuuuoooooouu
  11. Pretty much. They didn't even wait for the pro day to end to get it all in motion. Handshake (for lack of term) was likely in place before he even started throwing the other day.
  12. The Broncos are the team to watch but it may easily not materialize. In ATL, a first year GM+Coach need to take advantage of having that type of pick, especially in this years draft with their choice of the top non QB.
  13. Shanahan knows Fields well and wanted him. Wilson confirmed that they 100% wanted one of those two. NYJ is NOT budging. Teams don't have Lance rated along Fields & Wilson. And yup, some teams do in fact have Jones at #3.
  14. If you can peer through and see the forest through the trees, there is a clear path to getting Trey Lance. He's more of the project however the greatest reward. The thing is, 49ers are in a win now; may even keep Jimmy G in place for a bit. But Justin Fields is the pick there. Mac is pro-ready but does not provide the upside, Lance is riskier, Fields has a resume, leadership, less of a project, and could start pretty soon, if not immediately. Not to mention Kyle Shanahan coached Justin back at the QB collective and they have a history. The bulk of 49ers nation also seems to think he's the guy. So then, if ATL gets on the clock, doesn't trade, they land their top OT (a huge need) and see how much Ryan has left. They are pre-build and FedEx Smith has more than just a year to figure it out. There's no need for them to rush into a QB and I think he'll want to make sure he gets the top-non QB in the entire draft. So, 1-JAX-Lawrence QB | 2-NYJ-Wilson QB | 3-SF-Fields QB | 4-ATL-Sewell-OT... That leaves Cinci at #5 for us to trade with. If we want Lance, that is the target. Alternate case is that it ends up not happening and we take Jones at #8, lose nothing. Third case is that we target Kellen Mond in R2. And with this, we could easily release Teddy J1 designation, may even end up picking a worse vet like Foles. This allows for a new vet/Trey Lance/PJ Walker group. We'll have a new QB, it's just going to fall into place much differently than originally expected. If Lance doesn't look ready, then you roll with the vet who's worse than Teddy, possibly netting us a high pick again. If Lance looks legit, then all of a sudden we are in a really good spot with maybe (1) 1st, or a few draft picks given up.
  15. Hi y'all this is my plan and what I hear... Saxy has the connections and the pixie dust. We are getting TREY LANCE. I'm not convincing you, I'm telling you. @VergeI can dm you the details but it came through on my end like my Funchess & Little connects. So, get ready folks. Get to know our new QB, but anticipate future QB movement. Foles may be here.
  16. Grays Anatomy Frasier Sleepless Station 19 ... I mean right?! It’s all Steve’s fault.
  17. I step away for a day and look what happens! A fun light hearted Steve Drummond thread...why are we talking Cam Newton? lol
  18. Yeah, I don't think Tepper will let this go without us landing him.
  19. Lovely sentiment. Yeah that's the tough thing, knowing it's not my place to publicly shout for myself as you put it. This forum was a spot I felt I could at least say it. Never felt comfortable letting people in my life outside of those close know (they only find out secondhand). It's something that just sucks and I totally hear you about people seeing it at it's scariest.
  20. Alright, my mood is just sooooo amazing today. I was going to keep it private but need a place to shout it to the rooftops (bc I wouldn't dare on IG for attention or whatnot)...but what the hell, I'll drop my Sax Man spiel for a minute: I got 6 important biopsy results back and am nearly 3 years cancer free! Been a ridiculous past 2.5 years in this respect, but avoided chemo, recovered from surgery, and had a super important follow up that these results came from. So I am in the best possible mood this week. And still tearing it up at work do the architect thang and all. Cheers. LET'S GO GET WATSON!!
  21. Right?! Not to mention their recent trend of picking unexpected players in R1 in recent years. My only concern is Arthur Smith actually knows what he's doing so we can hope!
