Trade Back - Draft Ridder - Bridge with Cam
saX man replied to SetfreexX's topic in Carolina Panthers
We don't need a bridge. We just need a guy we pretend is our starter going into camp and for maybe a few weeks until we throw a new rookie in and see if they're good or not. So no to Cam. It just creates a weird situation yet again, and likely in Rhule's last year. Just pick up a sh*tstian, bench them early, and test out Howell, Corral, Latravus Gelpitt, whoever. -
He's arguably the best overall player in the draft and not one that comes often (Donavon Smith being the closest comparison I can think of), so you in fact are looking for a rarity--I imagine we all would prefer him. So yeah, Neal being akin the Donavon Smith, Penning being a better Kolton Miller. Raimann also has nearly prototypical size. This draft has every type of flavor teams look for at LT.

Next year’s QB crop is better. Let’s wait until then.
saX man replied to ncfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I don't mind the 2023 QB plan but it's not specifically because of Bryce Young and CJ Stroud. An undersized Alabama QB and another hyped kid from Ohio State at the top. The bloom ups/guys that could change the picture: Will Levis Allen size & ceiling, an actually apt comparison) Already getting 1st round buzz, a big year would put him in discussion as QB1 Jake Haener Will likely have a monster year stat wise, good to great at everything, just a tad undersized High round consideration, legit year, he's a top-5 QB easy, would be #1 or 2 in this draft Grayson McCall Growing hype train, his upcoming year will be huge to see how far he can go Like Levis could catapult into QB1 consideration Tyler Van Dyke Seemed to come out of nowhere but could be a very strong round 1 candidate Anthony Richardson If people are this high on Malik Willis, I mean, what is going to happen if Richardson lights it up for Florida? And then there's the "Don't sleep on, but don't get your hopes up" crowd: Spencer Rattler (meh), Sam Hartman (meh), Kedon Slovis (hard to gauge IMO), Phil Jurkevic (bleh) We're realistically looking at this crop in 2023 if we go Cross/Ekwonu/Neal/Penning/Raimann/Zion/etc. I personally think Levis, Van Dyke, & Richarson are the 3 that are the ones you take that big chance on if they have continued success and progress. Upside, arms, size. They've got it all. Young and Stroud, I mean, they play with such high level talent, it's hard to tell. I can never trust an OSU QB and Young can play small (but definitely has his moments, toughness, and leadership) -
Mathis, Butker, AJ Klein has had a restectable career, and of course, Hilee Taylor and Randy Fasani

Trade Back - Draft Ridder - Bridge with Cam
saX man replied to SetfreexX's topic in Carolina Panthers
If we trade back, sure, take a gamble with Corral, Howell, maybe Ridder. But there's no reason to frame this discussion around Cam's shadow remaining. But I'm not a fan of trading much further back than early teens. We can get a top lineman or skill position guy that high. So if we gain a 2nd or 3rd, then yeah, take a gander with Corral, Strong, Glass, etc. -
Trade Back - Draft Ridder - Bridge with Cam

I'm sorry, but let's just give it up with Cam. He's in the past, even in a "bridge" -
Totally. All 4 bring something, have the elite potential, unsure who would come swinging out the gate the most at first, but Cross is definitely the one looking like that prototypical LT you see. It's a good problem to have when we have our pickins at #6 and they'll be available, the one we want the most if we're lucky.

Is Robbie gone? (Tweets and profile pic change.)
saX man replied to TheWiz's topic in Carolina Panthers
Robbie is a weird, annoying dude and that's me saying it. He can go. -
Going back to Cross, he just has a lot to like. Has the size, length, ton of balance in his stance/stays pretty strong and upright with the best hand placement in the draft. If we are going OL, it makes sense why our new, actually NFL competent OL coach would want him. Cross-Elf/BC-Bozeman-Corbett-Moton is a fine line. One weak spot but Elf or Brady could play a lot better at LG with that supporting cast.
-
Thing is, I'd say Penning's Pass-pro is better than Icky so then considering his upside and general size/length, it makes you wonder if its a situation like 2020. It really depends on scheme and what certain teams covet. I.E.--Thomas was commonly projected behind Wills and Wirfs, taken way higher and then even Becton (The high upside large mauler type) taken ahead of Wirfs.

I’m telling you—Penning may be the target honestly. Sewell, Mac, and Fields we’re all the hype last year and people only caught wind of our Horn/Surtain love a week or so before the draft, I’m telling you Cross is as high as #5 overall on some boards and as low as the 5th OL. Bottom line is Neal/Cross is not a top-2 and then the rest.
-
Eagles don’t think any of these QBs are better than Hurts but will have the ammo for one next year. Saints are willing to draft one this year.
-
I’ve said it before. A lot of the fan+media hype train has driven up Ekwonu when he’s actually quite sloppy. Penning and Cross may indeed be ahead of him on team boards. Doesn’t make him bad or anything. Ekwonu is a top talent, but the team scout reality is different than this top-6 assumption for him and Neal.

Apparently the Browns wanted this for Baker.
saX man replied to Ivan The Awesome's topic in Carolina Panthers
Baker, Pickett, Grier and that Florida kid are all too similar if you’re picking up what I’m putting down -
More picks. Trade w Seattle. Land Penning, Howell/Ridder, and a stud lineman like Salyer or Sean Rhyan

My one takeaway is that its Nicole who likely snoops around our subreddit and here. So, she's definitely letting David know what the general mood is and what's trending with the team. He's in tune with the current atmosphere and opinions of Rhule. Makes you wonder a few things... -

Nice article, agree that it's nothing to try and decipher/read between the lines. We're looking hard at the top-3 QBs, definitely like Ridder but it depends on how we stack them up against the other top talent. We'll see. -

The same redundant posts are just as annoying as redundant threads my friend.
