Holding out hope for a Mahomes type player to hit is farfetched. Hoping to draft a Mahomes is closer to winning the lottery than finding a good starter as even top 10 QB picks still fail 50%+ of the time (looking at you BY). There's maybe 1 Mahomes level player every 10–15 years and the chance we pick one is 1 in 2,500.

While I'm not the biggest Bryce Young fan, BY's first 3 season's beats Alex Smith's first 3 seasons' out the water, as hard that is to fathom, and it's not even particularly close (even factoring injuries). Alex Smith Bryce Young

Roughly ~2–5% of all drafted players become true elite pass rushers (multiple All-Pro or consistently top-tier), and ~8–15% make at least one Pro Bowl at pass rusher (heavily dependent on draft round). Chances we get lucky in the next 2 seasons are extremely low. We cry about our non existent pass rush then also cry when we are unwilling to trade for top tier talent.

Trade: Panthers Receive: Maxx Crosby Raiders Receive: 2026 1st, 2027 1st, 2026 3rd, Then in free agency, pair him with one of the veteran pass rushers like Khalil Mack, Joey Bosa or Hassan Reddick. Releasing Patrick Jones frees up 10.1 million. 2nd round draft: LB Anthony Hill, Jr. Alabama, Taurean York, Texas A&M, or Lander Barton, Utah 3rd Round: QB Drew Allar, Penn State. Love his size and arm. Could develop under Bryce while Bryce plays out his option.
