  1. Then why did Butker sit on our practice squad unclaimed for two weeks until the Chiefs needed a replacement because they had to IR their starting kicker? This revisionism that Butker was this known elite commodity that teams were like circling sharks chomping at the bit to steal away from us is just weird.
  2. Lol going into preseason, I only knew we signed a D. Williams from Denver. So when an announcer said something about "Raequan Williams" in our preseason game against the Giants after a big guy with "Williams" on the back of his jersey made a play, I kinda scoffed and thought "Wow what an embarrassing gaffe..." until I looked up that we indeed had a Raequan Williams on our roster.
  3. I don’t think there were 2 D Williams as far as I know. There was a Raequan Williams who was cut, and there is still a DeShawn Williams, both big guys on the DL.
  4. Oh he's definitely serious...he's been very vocally anti-Young so I'm sure anything short of League MVP + OROY + Super Bowl MVP his rookie season will have him believing we took the wrong guy.
  5. I feel like this has more to do with basic talent/production/underperformance vs. "Rhule guys". If we end up keeping some of Rhule's draft picks (Barno, Mays, Christensen, Chuba) and get rid of others (Tremble, Corral, Taylor) then clearly everyone is getting a fair opportunity to make the roster, and are simply being evaluated individually on their own merits.
  6. Even ignoring Ford also being a bust: unless you've got "Real Housewives" brain and view everything through the lens of sensationalized Reality TV, they didn't even "laugh at us" lol they breathed a sigh of relief and celebrated/high-fived that their guy was still on the board. Something that happens during just about every draft selection across all 32 war rooms.
  7. Yeah it looks to me like the ball being underthrown is what gave the CB the chance to make a play on it, otherwise he was beat. That was a tough throw though. But CJ definitely looks more comfortable.
  8. When is the last time we had a QB who threw with anticipation like Bryce? The caveat with anticipation throwers is that your QB needs really good rapport with his receivers. And that’s the kind of thing they’ll need time to build beyond just one offseason.
  9. None of that addresses anything he said. Should he have sat out the entire meaningless preseason in your opinion? You'd play him tonight for the same reason he played in the first two games: for more in-game reps to get more comfortable in this offense. These reps are invaluable for a rookie QB who is newly transitioning to NFL speed, a new coaching staff who have never coached together, a new receiving corps who have never played alongside each other, and an o-line that is still trying to shake off the rust. If the offensive line can't protect him as you said, then we're screwed either way. If he gets injured off of a handful of snaps in a preseason game then how long would it have taken for him to get injured in the regular season? A quarter, max?
  10. Am I supposed to watch or close my eyes? Instructions unclear…
  11. My conspiracy theory is that OP is David Newton...trying to promote his article. I mean, the proof is right there: "What to make of Ivkey?" - who do we know is NOTORIOUS for screwing up our player names?!?
  12. Reddick had a really good final year in Arizona before he came to Carolina, he was just being played out of position. Which incidentally you could also argue for Simmons...I mean I don't know where/how they're playing him but versatility can be a double-edged sword. If you have a guy who has the build and skill set for multiple positions, then you might put him in a role that may not be his optimal position out of necessity because of a hole in your roster. Which is what you could argue we've been doing with Jeremy Chinn at safety after a dominant rookie season at LB.
  13. Huddle: "This team is trash...this defense sucks...teams just march down the field on us.....least talented roster......." Also Huddle: "Wtf are we THINKING cutting Undrafted FA perennial All-Pro Marquan McCall?!?!?? This will go down in franchise history as the worst move we've ever made" I'm starting to think a lot of people here just choose to adopt whatever's the contrarian position at any given point.
  14. It looks like an exhibit that'd come up in the courtroom during Deshaun Watson's trial. "For the courtroom, please point to the doll where the defendant touched you".
  15. “Dress for the job you want, not the job you have” - dude was waiting for a call from Philly.
  16. I was shocked to see he played the entire game. How often do you see that in preseason? The Titans must really be torn about him lol.
  17. Icky needs to clean up those MAs - Mental Arrors.
  18. I guess it's time to resurface this Reddit post:
  19. You’re the one coming across as an alias…FOR ROBERT SALEH
  20. I'm not sure anything was "confirmed" by Armstead's injury. There was no mention of chippiness or anything out of the ordinary on the play where he got injured. In fact, it was the first play of team drills for what appears to be a result of pretty standard contact. Armstead has a lengthy injury history so this isn't some crazy shock injury that you can reasonably chalk up to having anything to do with it being a joint practice. The fact that it was a joint practice is what appears to be "immaterial" to borrow your language.
  21. Properly critiquing the pass rush I think is going to be dependent upon whether Burns and/or Houston play tomorrow. Ideally we'd have enough depth not to have to rely on them, but still it's very hard to properly evaluate your pass rush when you're missing your two best pass rushers (one of them being arguably the best player on your entire roster). O-line for sure is fair game and something I think we'll all be keying in on.
  22. I don't recall this being their narrative. It was moreso the narrative of an edgy Huddle mod lol. I think it was reported that the Panthers and Jets met earlier that day and came to an agreement to cancel the joint practice.
  23. Are you being deliberately obtuse? It's not about "making the panthers look bad", it's about making the Jets look good. No one is arguing that HBO has a personal vendetta against the Carolina Panthers...we just happened to be the Jets' opponent, so them looking good and us looking bad kinda go hand in hand. If they were playing against *insert NFL team here*, it'd likely be a similar outcome.
  24. Fitt looks like he's ready to suit up and get in there himself. You can't deny he looks the part.
  25. I never suggested you bragged about Fields' preseason game. I was simply asking if you think my theoretical characterization of his performance was fair and objective or if you think it comes across as a hater take. If Bryce can be criticized for one individual sack that you say he didn't feel the pressure on, then I don't see why you couldn't criticize Fields for his one pretty errant screen pass that was behind DJ who had to adjust. For the record I think both are very nitpicky, but I'm looking for consistency on your takes. On a side note: are you talking about the Herbert TD where the Bears' line let people through easily? Because that was clearly a designed screen pass, so letting people through to get to the second level is kind of the design of the playcall lol. I mean maybe they disengaged a tad bit too quickly (or maybe Herbert slipped out a bit late, it's hard to say), but that TD was 90% credited to blocking. I think you are so quick to criticize the Bears' o-line that you don't recognize that they were ironically the star of the preseason game IMO. DJ basically caught the screen pass and ran a straight line for 62 yards to the end zone because of the superb blocking of the o-line on that play. Herbert went untouched for almost 50 yards before doing a good job powering through contact within the 5-yard line to secure the TD.
