  1. On a somewhat related note: Ja’Marr Chase is expected to be out 4-6 weeks with a hip injury and the Bengals just so happen to be our opponent next week. If Horn comes back and locks down Higgins, then I suddenly feel a lot better about our chances to contain that Bengals offense.
  2. Tbh I didn't watch the interview where he gave this quote, I'm just going off of the article that I linked. The article makes no mention of Darnold and clearly attributes this quote to Wilks talking about Horn, unless the author of the article made a mistake.
  3. I'm not inclined to go that far, but I did find Wilks' response interesting about Horn this week. Usually I roll my eyes at people who read too much into coaches' answers and maybe I'm doing that here, but Wilks almost seems annoyed? Or a bit dubious? He thought Horn was on track and "for whatever reason" he made that decision himself not to play. I'm often wondering when a player sits due to injury, if that decision comes from the player himself or if it's a coaching/medical decision not to clear him to play. This one sounds entirely like Horn was cleared but decided for himself to sit out...which, if he's legitimately in that bad of shape, I would rather he be cautious instead of risking exacerbating the injury. But it just sounds like Wilks' perception of the injury seems somewhat at odds with Horn. There are players like Cam, Thomas Davis, and Jonathan Stewart who are tough as nails and almost beg coaches to let them play despite constantly dealing with lingering injuries, so I dunno I'll give Horn the benefit of the doubt but it's still a little disappointing. https://www.charlotteobserver.com/sports/nfl/carolina-panthers/article267759257.html
  4. The guy is built like a tank for a cornerback and his two injuries are completely unrelated so you gotta hope these are just flukes rather than a testament to his fragility. But definitely frustrating as a fan who wants to see our young exciting corner on the field.
  5. The pocket was even still pretty clean 5 seconds in lol, PJ bailed a bit prematurely.
  6. He's not ignoring them, he just legit is barely on here lol.
  7. Despite being wide open, he also doesn't even turn to look for the pass until PJ is already on his 2nd or 3rd read lol.
  8. The current one thought Terrell McClain was gonna be an All-Pro #NeverForget
  9. You guys annoyed by the prospect of us taking first place in the division on Sunday? I'll take a playoff spot all day, even if we limp in with like an 8-9 record.
  10. I'd rather you buy the Panthers from Tepper and then apply the Green Bay Packers model to the franchise. We know you're good for it, moneybags.
  11. Assuming Corbett and BC legitimately had poor showings (big asterisk with PFF): it kinda makes sense considering they had a new Center playing beside them for the first time this season. Might have just been some typical miscommunications/miscues which are natural when you haven't had the time to gel with the new guy next to you. I'd expect them to bounce back in the coming weeks.
  12. Well, I agree with that lol but that’s not really the trade-off. We’re talking Fields vs. Horn. More or less a JAG with an extremely high ceiling who is showing signs of improvement as of late, vs. a corner playing at an All-Pro level who has struggled to see the field. You can make a case for either; it’ll come down to whether Fields continues progressing and if Horn becomes one of those disappointing perennially injured all-world talents.
  13. It’s quite reasonable to hold the opinion that Fields was put into a bad situation that has seriously hindered his chances for success. But anyone saying he’s been impressive, throwing out the term “franchise QB”, declaring that we made a huge mistake passing him over, etc. are just not operating in reality. Objectively speaking, he has been at the bottom of nearly every QB metric. He seems to be trending in the right direction though. He’ll for sure be an exciting player if he can put it all together.
  14. Why did he use a picture of Christian McCaffrey?
  15. “We’ve won 16 games in 3.5 seasons and this guy wants to cradle DJ Moore’s balls in his mouth!” -That’s the kind of “football related discussions” you’re bragging about contributing to these boards that you expect grown adults to engage with. Go nip at someone else’s ankles, you child. Lil’ Chihuahua Frank molded from the discussion boards of Facebook.
  16. Silly Frank, I'm perfectly fine with the trade. If my post you're quoting is criteria for a "meltdown" then I'd love you to psychoanalyze the kinds of tantrums you throw in here daily. Answer me this: if someone is a "big CMC guy" then why in the hell would they be complaining about this trade? If you love CMC so much you'd be damn ecstatic that he's leaving the worst team in the league who put his body through years of abuse running him up the gut 30 times a game, to go to sunny San Francisco where he might actually compete, and him and his girl are no doubt going to be MUCH happier...closer to family, etc. Anyone mad about this trade is undeniably putting the team's interests over CMC's because they think we're a better team with him rather than that haul of picks from the 49ers.
  17. I'm not...no where in my post did I mention anything about running backs. I mentioned CMC once in my first post but I already said that was just as a goof to the people spamming "16 wins in 3.5 years" as a big mic drop. My actual argument (my entire last post) was disputing your idea that you pretty much have to draft WRs in the first round and that it's so hard to find really good ones. 14 of the top 25 WRs statistically this year were drafted in the 2nd or later. I'd be curious how many positions you'd see a distribution like that with.
  18. The top two NFL receivers in terms of yardage are Tyreek Hill and Stefon Diggs, who were both drafted in the 5th. Then you got Kupp at #4 (probably the best WR in the NFL) who was drafted in the 3rd. Other top WRs like AJ Brown, Davante Adams, Tyler Lockett, DK Metcalf, Courtland Sutton, Michael Pittman, Gabe Davis, JuJu...Terry McLaurin....Christian Kirk....Tee Higgins.......those are all Top 25 WRs statistically and were drafted in the 2nd round or later. I don't think it's as hard as you're suggesting. Also to your point in your last post about what teams are willing to do to get a good receiver (assuming you mean via trade): many of those teams who went all in on trading for a receiver find themselves at (or tied for) the bottom of their respective divisions. Dolphins (trading for Tyreek Hill), Browns (trading for Amari Cooper), Raiders (trading for Davante Adams), Cardinals (trading for Marquise Brown) are all at the bottom of their divisions. Conversely, the teams who traded said players are doing pretty well: Chiefs (first in their division), Cowboys (third in their division but 4-2), Packers (2nd in their division), Ravens (first in their division). The only team who made a big trade for a WR and are excelling this season is Philly (AJ Brown). Unless I'm missing something obvious.
  19. Yeah but like we've only won 16 games in the past 3.5 seasons with DJ Moore as our #1 receiver... Naw I wanna keep DJ, I'm just goofing on the people who used that argument as their rally cry for trading CMC and are awkwardly quiet when it comes to the discussion of trading DJ Moore lol.
  20. Just curious, what does it mean when people suggest we were "building around a RB"? That seems to imply that we were intentionally making CMC the focal point of our offense. Like I could understand if we invested in a bunch of run-blocking o-linemen to put all our eggs in the rushing basket. But it feels a lot more like we were trying to develop a passing offense, just failing miserably at it. Since drafting CMC, we've invested pretty significant resources (money and/or draft picks) into DJ Moore (drafting + extending), Teddy, Sam Darnold, Robbie Anderson, TMJ, Matt Corral, and Baker to a lesser extent. Not to mention our choice of OCs (Brady and McAdoo) who have traditionally been much more pass-focused. Rather than "building around" CMC, it seems evident we tried to complement him with a strong passing attack but failed biblically so we were just resigned to feeding CMC as the only way to move the ball.
  21. Ugh I’m mostly upset that this is happening less than 3 days before the Bucs game which happens to be the only one I’m going to lol. No CMC is going to make our already unwatchable offense somehow less watchable. I’ll probably wait til the offense takes the field to go get in line for a beer.
  22. Same lol I’m gonna keep exploiting that TE designation as long as I can. Hill now has at least one passing, rushing, and receiving TD on the year. I wonder if he’s the first player to do that since CMC a few years back after his infamous TD pass to Chris “Martinez” Manhertz against the Saints.
  23. Do you want us to win games or are you on the tank train? Cause if it's the latter as I suspect, then I can't imagine why you wouldn't want to throw Darnold out there if you genuinely think he's the worst QB on our roster. Just logically seems counterintuitive.
  24. He's gotta be like top 3 in interceptions too, right?!
