Thank you! Looking at the top 4 quarterbacks in the league and only 1 was picked #1 overall. It was beyond clear that Burrow was going to be good. Along with Cam he had the greatest season ever. Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen and Pat Mahomes were all drafted later in the 1st. These guys coming out aren’t a guarantee. Next year there are some bonafide studs.

Where are you getting this information or disinformation? The Panther were winning the entire game and Bryce’s meh play down the stretch allowed the Giants to tie the game and go into overtime. On top of that Bryce literally handed the ball off 3 times in overtime after the Giants fumble close to the red zone.

He missed an easy throw to Coker to ice the game. That by definition is a mistake.

Okay I’m on the same page as you. At first I didn’t understand where you were coming from until you admitted Bryce is not the future. The problem with most of us is Tepper mortgaged the Panthers best players and tons of draft prospects for a QB that has a ceiling of a game manager. You don’t win Super Bowls with a game manager and you shouldn’t pick game managers 1st overall and give up multiple 1st round picks. Brock Purdy was drafted 6th or 7th round. Brock is more athletic, has a better arm and stands taller in the pocket to make better decisions. Conversely look at what we gave up for Bryce.
-
And you can see him going through his reads. Really good at standing tall surveying the field. I even saw a few plays where he guided the safety away from his intended target.
-
No he wasn’t! Yes Bryce Young was high on tons of boards, but there were a lot of former players and analyst that had major concerns about how he projected at the NFL level. I’m not ragging on you, but you BY apologist have to stop. Heck 60 % of this board went quiet before the draft because we did not see BY as the better prospect than Stroud. We also knew we had no vote with the front office. The one intangible that BY has is intelligence. He’s not tall, he’s not athletic, he doesn’t have a big arm. It’s laughable that this organization saw him as #1 overall.

Agreed people that say Daniel Jones haven’t watched his awful decision making and ball placement in games. Darnold was better 2 years ago than Jones is right now.

Those know-it-all’s are quiet now………lol

What were your expectations for this season?
Beast_3000 replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
I have been baffled since day 1 why anyone that used logic considered Bryce Young a day 1 QB prospect. Outside of intelligence Bryce never showed any plus traits to be considered a round 1 prospect. I expected about 3 to 4 wins this season at this point I can see 2 to 3. Morgan invested all of the team’s resources to try to make Bryce look serviceable. That kind of decision can only be granted to a 1st time GM by the owner. Hey! Let’s divest all resources from the defense and invest it into the offense. This has been a forced experiment to coddle Tepper’s ego. Tepper wanted to prove to the world he knew what he was doing by picking Young over Stroud. He did not. -
At this point in time, who feels like we lost this trade?
Beast_3000 replied to WarPanthers89's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yeah I stopped responding to the delusional excitement people had about Bryce. It was very unfair how an opinion would get pummeled. I didn’t expect Bryce to look so bad so fast, but I could not understand why the Panthers had a QB with zero plus physical traits at #1 overall. It made no sense. At the time, I believe I was more concerned with Bryce holding up physically. Based on how Bryce crumbles in the pocket I assume we all should have considered how Bryce could mentally crumble when he realized that he was physically overmatched. This thread has a lot of receipts. A ton of hope and excitement was used by the huddle posters over analytics and logic. -
That’s why he was never the answer. He falls into the game manager category. We started out in a better position with Teddy 5 to 6 years ago but everyone was so spoiled due to Cams success. We should have continued to draft playmakers and build around Darnold. Not saying he’s the answer but if we had DJ and a receiver like Malik Nabers or MHJ you don’t have to be Mahomes.

I don’t understand the the hate on Tepper for Bryce getting benched
Beast_3000 replied to hepcat's topic in Carolina Panthers
Well, this isn’t true. This board was split. If anything I would say there were more huddlers scratching their heads at how a QB with zero plus traits outside of intelligence could be the 1st pick. I didn’t even have the guy on my draft board for the Panthers in the 1st round because of his measurables. Most of us just stopped voicing our opinion because it didn’t matter. We were told Fitterer and Reich and Co were the experts. Most of us were told in so many words “pipe down what do you know?” Stroud can’t be the better pick. -
What makes it worse is you can see people like Joe Brady thriving in Buffalo. He was one of the first to go and take blame. Now that we have about 6 seasons under Tepper we can look back and say he was probably our best offensive coordinator. Crazy as it sounds Darnold has probably been the best QB in the Tepper era.

Everyone should have seen the disaster around Bryce coming
Beast_3000 replied to t96's topic in Carolina Panthers
The eye test from game1 says he has ZERO plus traits. What more do you need to see after the excuses last season. Jake Plummer has better traits. Better size, arm strength and accuracy -
@MHS831 yeah definitely. He has charisma and he wasn’t baited by any questions about Brock the top tight end taking all the publicity.

Agree with everything in your assessment. I think Gilmore may still be in our future. Don’t forget we resigned Troy Hill who should start at nickel. He is really good at run support and he can help on the outside too.- 109 replies

Unnecessary Bluntness: Do Panthers already have a draft crush?
Beast_3000 replied to top dawg's topic in Carolina Panthers
I live in Columbia, SC. He was a dual threat QB coming out of high school that played receiver too. He was rated as an athlete coming out of highschool so he had learning to do in terms of positional nuances. He didn’t convert completely to wideout until his sophomore year in college I believe. -
That’s not completely true. He was a dual threat QB that moved to wide receiver. He didn’t get outplayed, he never played the position before college.

WR Diontae Johnson to the Panthers
Beast_3000 replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yeah I agree,You almost have to take one with either one of those 2nd round picks or the 3rd round pick because we are light on corner now. -
This team is not attractive because of the meddling owner. Carolina already had to deal with the small market but you look at the bumbled trades and the lack of patience shown not only for the Panthers but the soccer team too. Soccer team made the playoffs and I believe Tepper still fired the coach. Smart coaches are going to do their research. I know money talks but getting fired and blamed for a football team’s downfall can ruin a career for an up and coming coach. This league will move on to the next shiny ornament. I am interested to see who Tepper can convince to come here. I want Ben Johnson, but you guys know you wouldn’t come here if your life long dream is to lead a team to a Super Bowl. Moving from city to city is part of the process, but no coach wants to move around every year unless it’s for a much better opportunity.

Was that article supposed to be a trash indictment ? I have seen articles 3x worse about the Panthers this year with Frank Reich. I don’t want Bieniemy, but if he is straight trash, then I don’t want to guess what the Panthers have been this season. I think he is okay at best but not worth giving a head coach job. Mahomes and company are struggling at times this year with the best quarterback in the league. I saw a post above saying Bieniemy had nothing to do with KC last year, but everything to do with Washington. Thats a short sighted take. It’s amazing how we throw rocks from the bottom of the barrel.
