  1. Wimp? Kinda like someone who avoids the question all together?
  2. @CamWhoaaCam Calling you out. What were you poo’ing? Just want a discussion.
  3. Yes. But going to a top flight program and excelling doesn’t mean he’s an elite NFL prospect. It MAY mean that, but excelling as a QB at Alabama doesn’t by default mean that. If he’s our pick I’m 100% behind him and excited because I like him…I just have some worries. That’s all. And it’s not just Young…I don’t feel for any QB the way I felt for Cam in 2011. I would have been PISSED had we gone Locker or Gabbert. This draft I’m kind of lukewarm about all these QB’s.
  4. Not an argument. Just a question. I’ve very much been worried about Stroud’s supporting cast as well. I’ve brought that up a lot when discussing Corral over the year. I guess at the end of the day, Young has physical deficiencies that Stroud doesn’t. For all we know, Stroud my have mental deficiencies that Young doesn’t. So I wonder if people think Young’s brain would have him in #1 discussion if he didn’t have the spotlight at Bama. Spotlight helps every player, including Stroud…but being so slight of frame, and having a “good enough” arm, his ceiling seems limited. I think Young is the perfect test if the saying “quarterback is 90% mental.” And yes Young was a top recruit (like Clausen…I’m joking) but he’s a top recruit for college ball. That doesn’t necessarily mean he’s a top talent for the NFL. Time will tell of course.
  5. I meant more brand recognition and exposure. In a similar way, this being the board for a team in the Carolina’s, everyone loved them some Sam Howell a couple years back. People here were more aware of him. Watched him more. Likewise everyone watches Young. That’s kind of what I mean. Evaluating the tape is why he isn’t my #1. Disregarding his size too. He’s too physically limited for my liking (outside of size), but the mind and feel for the game is legit (or seems that way). If he was his size but faster, or with a laser for an arm, I would get more excited, but he just screams late 1st/early 2nd type guy to me if he wasn’t college footballs darling.
  6. It’s funny. I like Bryce. Just not sure I like him at #1. But if you don’t like Bryce at #1, you hate him apparently. That’s not the same thing.
  7. I think a big factor is the exposure. Everyone who watches college football is aware of who QB’s Alabama. They are televised. They play in big games. It certainly builds opinion. Had Josh Allen QB’d in the SEC he’s probably not dropping out of the top 5 players in the draft.
  8. 0:35 is not an entire breakdown but I’ll listen to the podcast tomorrow and see more about what he’s saying. Have to hear the total context. Regarding “logic”…we are dealing with opinions here. Anything can be argued as logical or illogical in the realm of ideas. And I still don’t get the Skip Bayless thing. He and Skip, aside from talking sports on camera, do wildly different things. It’s a different format. Skip is more of an actor playing a role (as is Shannon and Steven A. before that). Simms is more a guy just giving opinion in an entertaining format.
  9. One plus side to drafting Young…there’s a higher chance we will see Corral play.
  10. I haven’t heard the Will Anderson take yet, but the others you mentioned, he explained why he thought the way he did thoroughly. Doesn’t mean he ended up correct, but just like anyone, he gets some right and some wrong. Saying he’s like skip bayless, or that he’s a moron, or that he’s clueless…well that’s exaggeration and sounds emotional. Ironically moronic and clueless. I take it he has a different opinion than you, and you don’t like it. And if you like Young, he doesn’t even dislike Young. He has him as his second best QB in the damn draft. He even said in that clip that he is worthy of #1. He just likes Stroud more. Not having a guy #1, and criticizing a player doesn’t mean he hates the guy.
  11. How is he like Skip Bayless? Simms is thoughtful when he has a take. He explains it. Gotta get past this “if you disagree with me you are a moron” culture.
  12. I don’t think they are fans, they just aren’t liars. Brees was annoyingly good, and it’s been a pleasure watching Winston and co try to replace him.
  13. Yeah but…I find it hard to believe that’s the reason for Brees comp. Good observation on your part, but I’d be shocked if the majority made this comp for that reason.
  14. It’s a lazy comp in my opinion. It’s made because he was a great QB who wasn’t tall. The guy I would actually comp to Brees…is Stroud, who has silly Brees like ball placement and touch.
  15. It would be funny if the team that took the most physically imposing QB in NFL history with a #1 overall, took the least physically imposing QB with their next #1 overall.
  16. I’m most intrigued by Chinn’s usage, followed by Barno and Brandon Smith. Those two are freak athletes. I think McCall’s gonna show again how much of a UDFA win he was too.
  17. Stroud’s ball placement is better. His arm strength is better. Young does certain things better than Stroud too. But Stroud merely being bigger is just narrative.
  18. So people clown Simms for his Wilson take a lot, and if you are one of those people, I encourage you to look at at JT’s top 5’s over the past few years to see if you are impressed.
  19. That’s a good framing. CJ’s ball placement could end up being Brees level frustrating to compete against. Basically with me, my concern over the last year was them both being on dominating teams. A deep dive if the film resulted in reinforcing that concern with Bryce, while calming that concern with CJ.
