EXACTLY. For whatever reason, people want to score a certain way. I just want us to score. You’d think having Cam for nearly a decade would have shown people that what matters is moving the ball down field. Air, ground, penalty? Who cares. Just move the ball down there and give yourselves a chance. People are obsessed with analytics, advanced stats, completion percentage, QBR, PFF, blah blah blah………S2 test scores………… Making it too complex. I don’t care if my QB has 50% completion if we score 27 points. That’s what matters.

I’ll throw Woods in there too. If it wasn’t for the new age soft rules resulting in his “personal fouls”, he’s been exactly the hard hitting, give up his body to blow up the catch, tone setter at safety that we love. “Defenseless receiver” calls are so subjective and inconsistent, yet they call it every time on him. But I see a guy with impeccable timing who isn’t afraid of a damn thing. I like him.

How much smarter is the GM then the fans

The trade Burns thread was one of the longest threads I can remember. I doubt that indicates agreement. -

I had to let the Corral love go…and he was an injured 3rd rounder. It’s gonna take a lot longer for the Bryce defenders to see the light.

Intangibles aside, let's grade straight-up QB traits (Bryce)

I thought about it, got sad… Then because I hate myself, I did this but with Cam. Now I’m sadder…why do I do this to myself? -
It’s funny, because a this point I just assume Corral quit football. Not getting a sniff of a chance…with how bad Bruce looks… I don’t blame him for quitting.

No one knows how Wilks would have done. He’s not Ron Rivera. Ron Rivera is Ron Rivera. What we know is that he became interim of a laughing stock of a team, instantly made them respectable (with no QB), and now we have returned to laughing stock status. None of us know Wilks personally (or Ron for that matter) so there’s just a lot of assuming going on. I get that people want the next stud offensive coach, but good luck to them trying to light up the league with no QB. Wilks did pretty good (and ran the appropriate scheme imo) for a Sam Darnold led offense.

Frank seems like a good guy. It wouldn’t shock me if he, at the end of his road, wants all the stink on him instead of Brown, who’s at the beginning of his road. Sure it might be a control thing, but I just have a hunch it isn’t.

I always wondered what Bengals fans in the 90’s felt like. Dear god.

A lot of Wilks love sprinkled throughout the huddle. Good to see. He earned the job, but people didn’t like winning the way he was winning games. McVay’s don’t grow on trees, and neither do franchise QB’s. Wilks showed how you win with McAdoo and a mediocre QB (which most QB’s are btw). Football isn’t that complicated. You will win games if you control the clock and defend. There’s maybe 5 QB’s I’d trust to throw it 40+ times a game, and you have to get mad lucky to land one of those guys.

I’ll take the next front office seriously if they correctly “Rosen” Bryce. No sense waiting 2-3 years for a guy without NFL physical ability to develop.

To those who watched all 4th quarters: why?

If you fully embrace the suck, it’s hilarious. Be one with the suck. -
He really does. Good reference. If anything it’s on par with with Jakes arm post surgery, and that essentially ended Jake as a starter.

Hahahahahaha Just accept how bad things are until shown otherwise. It’s much easier that way. Embrace the poverty.

Jonathan Jones piece this morning on the latest in Carolina

Media treatment during Cam’s career vs. Bryce so far is wild. Kid is being coddled by everyone. -
If Tepper is smart he goes after Jim Harbaugh.
Wundrbread33 replied to CamWhoaaCam's topic in Carolina Panthers
I hate football now because of the panthers, so I haven’t followed the Harbaugh thing at all. But I’d love a coach who gives enough of a sh!t to cheat. I’d take that any day over this hell. -
“I don’t know why they haven’t moved him (Ickey) to guard yet”
Wundrbread33 replied to ncfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I agree. The whole damn team performed just fine when Wilks had them doing things they are good at. He was a “defense coach” and wasn’t a sexy enough name, so his work was overlooked. Reich and co, (I assume mainly Reich) are forcing players to scheme instead of tailoring scheme to player. That’s bad coach red flag all day long. Let’s get a better staff or a better HC with a vision. -
He can’t run the current scheme though.
-
Which reminds me: everyone likes to call out Chris Simms on his misses, but he definitely appears correct on his Stroud/Young take.
-
Definitely not saying he was the only one, but ideas spread, then those who choose to adopt those ideas mentally own them as “theirs” and defend them. Sometimes in obvious ways. Sometimes in slick ways. “Texans wanted Young but they will never admit it” is a pointless thing to say, and comes off like saying “see it wasn’t just me, everyone else too.” It softens the feeling of “being wrong.” An ego massaging trick.

The Athletic - Panthers Indecisiveness
Wundrbread33 replied to Bear Hands's topic in Carolina Panthers
So many highly regarded young and old coaches on this staff…and this is what we get? How could they be this bad? Too many cooks in the kitchen? Is one guy (perhaps Reich) limiting everyone else? Stunning. Has there been a bigger contrast between expectation and reality in team history? -
Perhaps he’s saving face because he liked Bryce…
-
And it’s a team sport, of course, and it takes a team to perform well, but if people can’t see that Stroud is the difference and that he is ELEVATING his teammates…I don’t know what to tell you.
