Panthers trade for wide receiver Laviska Shenault
Wundrbread33 replied to joemac's topic in Carolina Panthers
I was joking because the other guy kept saying “Curtis Samuel but beefier and slower.” -

Sounds like if you took Curtis Samuel, but made him beefier; slower. -

I think this is more of an indictment of Chubba than our WR’s. We need hands out of the backfield/gadget as insurance for CMC. Chubs ain’t it. -
I swear when I chose to focus on Mays, he was finishing blocks by burying his man in the dirt. Good timing I guess.

Corral vs the rest of the rookie field
Wundrbread33 replied to micnificent28's topic in Carolina Panthers
A lot of these comments don’t seem to be directly about Corral. Seems more like some people are arguing because they are emotionally attached to him being successful, while the other side is arguing from being annoyed by those who are emotionally attached to him being successful. It’s too early. That’s the answer. He could bust. He could have had a bad 2.5 quarters. His teammates could have been blowing their assignments. The college tape indicates he’s a player, so I’m confident he will have value for us. -
If he still has his power stache I could get behind it.

I don’t see enough redeeming qualities with Chubba to make up for having no hands. He seemingly being entrenched as the number 2 back might be the least deserved status on the squad.
-
So it may be the case that him not immediately being Micah Parsons at Penn State made people judge him too harshly. I don’t mind benefiting from this.

Hubbard has the worst hands I’ve ever seen. Not sure why he runs routes.
-
I want to see Corral get his usual rep count.
-
My thoughts too, with the one caveat being his relationship (if it’s a good one) with Rhule. The same job (same PT) you hated before, with a new boss you like sometimes makes all the difference. This of course, includes some assumptions.

ESPN Early 2023 NFL Draft Projection
Wundrbread33 replied to kungfoodude's topic in Carolina Panthers
People slobbering over two QB’s whose team is always the best on the field. Corral is dead to the huddle now, but put him on Ohio St. or Bama and he balls out. -
But I just bought this.
-
Right. And even they get eaten sometimes. Corral does have tape easily handling free SEC rushers in space. The thing is, he calmly handles a single free rusher, but people expect him to superman 2-3 guys? Let’s be realistic.
-
It’s baffling to me how people downplay the benefits of reps. It’s such an ignorant take. These same people probably expected Cam to instantly be in sync with his teammates coming in off the street. A QB needs reps for timing, for familiarity, for realizing raw data (playbook) into experience. MC had 3 other QB’s taking reps. He undoubtedly looks better if there were 3 QB’s in camp, or just him and Darnold/Baker. The kid has undeniable talent if you simply watch game tape in the SEC. Just chill and let him learn a bit before shitting on him.
-
We traded a 5th for Baker that could (and most likely will) become a 4th.

Dude Corral was my top QB in the draft; I love the tools he has, but if you want to be taken seriously you can’t be hyperbole all the time. It’s like you started as parody and gaslit yourself.
-
People giving up on Corral after seeing less than a game of reps, and about equal practice reps.
-
Does anyone (maybe who followed college ball closely) know why he went from potential 1st/2nd round prospect to where we ended up drafting him? He doesn’t seem to have glaring weaknesses. He gives off “loves football” vibes. He likes contact and plays mean. He had nice size, and as displayed, more than enough mobility. And he isn’t a small school guy. I just don’t get it. Strong Andrew Norwell essence from Mays.

Official Panthers at Patriots Gameday Thread!
Wundrbread33 replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
Most likely so both QB’s get time with the 2’s in the first half, then 3-4’s in the second half. Makes sense to me. Certainly better than Corral just with dudes who won’t make the team. -

Moton is the perfect RT and is the most under appreciated (or under talked about) player on our team. Top 3 player on the team by skill, and arguably our best player when you weigh availability. -

Celebrating a lack of pessimism by posting that there is a lack of pessimism is a good way to invite pessimism. -

I’m a fan of my team winning (duh) so Rhule isn’t my bestie, but I would say there is always a case to be made for a coach when he doesn’t have even average QB play, and a dogshit offensive line on top of that. There was also a lot of smoke regarding a lack of competency with Brady at OC. Additionally the best weapon on the team hasn’t been able to play (CMC). Add all that up and you have a team that’s completely neutered on one side of the ball. It’s laughable after listing it. Now you can make an argument that roster/draft/FA decisions fuged the game day roster, and without being in those decision rooms, we could only assume that Rhule messed those decisions up that impacted the offense on game day. Rhule isn’t all bad, and the good decisions would be much more apparent if we had a QB the last two years. Those losing teams are probably .500 teams if the forward pass was part of the offense.
