Official Browns at Panthers predictions thread
Wundrbread33 replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
Long season. Power running team is our worst matchup, and it took Baker and the offense too long to get going. It’s okay if someone disagrees with you btw. You are just as entitled to your opinion as I am to mine. Life’s too short for you to give a poo what I think. -
That’s a thicc boi onion.

Delivered yesterday is clutch as fug.

Home made fries (cut like bojangles). Boil them until they are cooked through but not mushy, allow them to dry and cool. Fry they in 400° peanut oil until brown. Hit ‘em with that fine sea salt and pepper. Smash burgers on cast iron, flip once, never squeeze outside of the initial smash (keeps the juices in). Toppings of your choosing (I think I’m doing American cheese, caramelized onions, spicy chili pepper mayo today) Broiled brioche buns (inside crunch, outside warm and soft. Final course is the Panthers getting dat ass with a double digit victory to shut everyone the fug up.

I think it’s better than we think, and it’s been held back by QB, O-line, and playcalling offensively. We know those things have been addressed, but we will soon see if they have been fixed. -
Week 1 General Discussions - Talk to me about the Browns
Wundrbread33 replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
I’m not worried at all about this game, which is why I’m worried about this game. -
I’ve seen evidence with this coaching staff (for me offensive line most apparently) but also every staff we have had, of players being used out of position and/or in a way that makes it hard for them to succeed. It’s easy to see this because Rhule and co had 10 wins in two years. Because of this, I apply that reasoning to these players we pick up from shitty teams, but were valuable players on draft day. It’s possible another staff simply didn’t develop or use them well. (Maybe the jags guys) It’s also possible they weren’t as good as they draft stock. (Obviously Sam) Thats all I’m saying. I get and respect your opinion too though.
-
That’s not inherently a bad thing to do though. It’s buying low on high draft picks from shitty teams. Henderson/Shenault would still have been high draft picks if the Jags didn’t draft them. Sam was a fug up especially at the price, but they failed taking a swing. I can disagree with the price but appreciate taking a chance.

That’s not true. Last years team did improve. But the most important position became the worst in the NFL.

I understand. The whole point is to win, and he hasn’t done it. I think perception of him changes with wins though. He’s easy to poo on now, but I think he would be viewed as “likeable” if we had more W’s than L’s. The refreshing thing about this off-season, is that we had glaring holes at QB, offensive line, and various coaching spots, and all have been addressed in major ways. Suffering through years and years of ignoring obvious needs was infuriating, when sometimes doing the obvious things and not outthinking yourself is actually the right move. Could be more Fitts than Rhule, but without being in the room, it’s hard to know who is most influential.

Everyone here is about to see how important not having the worst QB in the league is. Healthy CMC and Baker being average gets this roster 8-10 wins. Baker being good has us in the playoffs. We addressed our three worst aspects from last year. Scheme (OC), QB, and offensive line. This will help our defense too. This is a 10+ win team.

This reminded me of those “I’m the biggest Cam fan there is BUT…he’s trash, always been trash, and I like my QB’s to throw the ball and wear wrangler jeans” posts.
-
A quick look at our roster and depth charts say the opposite. Cutting a young guy doesn’t equal “Rhule hates young guys.”

More are starting to believe in the Panthers
Wundrbread33 replied to Panthers Rhule's topic in Carolina Panthers
Believe it or not, it’s possible to have a take that rests in between riding Rhule’s dick, and thinking this is a lost season. Rhule can OBVIOUSLY have a lot to prove, while still acknowledging; not excuses, but REASONS why the team struggled outside of coaching itself. -

That’s a nonsensical take. Of course they have a plan. So Rhule says one thing and does another at times. Welcome to coaching. It’s not going to be spoon fed for reporters. The team has added talent each year and we are full of athletic young talented guys. How many coaching staffs are currently getting bailed out by having the most important position taken care of? Rhule and his staff hasn’t had that luxury. Also, arguably the best weapon in football has barely seen the field the first two years of his tenure. We have built a fast defense with emphasis on defending the modern NFL with focus on secondary. This is probably the best secondary we have ever fielded (on paper). We have fast/quick edge rushers. We need Brown to step up, but he was a top 10 pick so we tried there. Aside from QB, what held this team back was offensive play calling and o-line play, and both received heavy focus and were addressed: the season will play out how well it was addressed. But saying there is no plan is lazy, biased, and honestly just piling on to what’s hot right now: Rhules coaching seat.- 54 replies

There’s dudes on the practice squad we didn’t hear anything about in camp, and people are upset about Saunders. El oh el.
-
You are hoping he isn’t good so we get someone better? I hope we skip that step, and that he just ends up being better.
-
Agreed. Move the damn chains. If you can punch them in the mouth with the run game awesome. I’m confident that Baker won’t be a liability the last two QB’s were. Not just the passing game improves, but the run game opens up when the QB is a threat.
-
I don’t think that’s a fair argument. Rhule hasn’t had a QB like that. Hopefully Baker shows he can be close to that good. That being said, I think people are taking the “run the ball” too literally. You want long possessions on offense, short possessions on defense. You can literally run the ball, or “Brady run” the ball through short throws and YAC. Its still a game of T.O.P. and a team that controls the clock still will win more than they lose.
-
A lot of people don’t like the “run the ball, stop the run” aspect of Rhule, but I don’t get it. He’s not saying “run the ball and who cares about being good in the air.” Controlling the game/clock is done through the run. Wearing teams down and keeping their offense off the field wins games. And we will run the ball better with competent QB play and an upgraded line. Making Rhule out to have “old thinking” in this regard is silly, and just a reach to hate on Rhule. Maybe that’s because he has worked to fix things that were topics of hate before (o-line, QB, OC, GM duties etc).

I mean it’s hard to ask for a more physically talented QB to stash. Exactly the type of guy you want as a 3rd. His arm is crazy. Elite frame. If he ever put it all together he would be a problem.
