What stood out to me was Ikey gets beat on the TD pass to Moore, but he kept fighting, recovered, and punched the end just enough to give PJ’s arm room to make the throw. Hell of a job sticking with the play and not giving up. That’s the difference between a strip sack vs. a TD for us.

Man I must have been watching the wrong game. He looked raw, somewhat goofy, and inaccurate. Perhaps I picked an off day. I look forward to watching more. Any particular games that stick out?

Sucks for Elf, even if he probably shouldn’t have been starting. I think he played better than expected, and I hate when dudes busting their ass get hurt. I think he’s the ideal versatile backup, and that’s not without value.

These are opinions. You should share yours, explaining why it isn’t realistic. Most of the players on this list (including Corral) have physical tools of NFL qb’s, and their success will largely depend on mental processing, coaching, surrounding talent, etc. My opinion is that people are jaded against Corral as a prospect because he was drafted in the 3rd round, and he did not have success in preseason play. I don’t think many (not all) have evaluated his college tape closely though. If they did, he has clear skills that translate to NFL success, and he isn’t physically limited. What’s between the ears (and whether or not he is given opportunity) will make or break him.

Me too. My only concern is the age, as the older a QB gets in college, the more mentally and physically he matures, so there is a higher chance he is just beating up on kids. He has a great build, strong arm, good mobility. He checks a lot of boxes, and he is interesting even considering his age though.

I agree on Anderson. Pairing him with Burns would be so lethal I would take him over the QB’s if I was in charge (at least currently) which would cause riots in the streets. Corral’s injury worries me too, and is the main reason I would fully support drafting QB even if I think Corral has a very complete talent base.

Levis is the guy I need to catch up on the most. Any particular games that impressed you with Stroud/Levis?

Probably an effective way of viewing the upcoming class, is assuming Corral is part of it. So far (imo): 1. Young (the size kills me tho) 2. Corral (talent is there. Good feet. Release, arm, mobility are ideal. Fragility may be a problem.) 3. Stroud (need to evaluate more, but surrounding talent is worrisome. Young plays with better “feel”) 4. Levis (looks raw but physically he has it all) 5. Hooker (older, so could be mentally and physically more developed than opponents) This isn’t in stone for me, and there is inescapable bias toward Corral that I’m trying to avoid in evaluating these guys, but it’s only natural that it would be there. The more I watch Young, the more I like him. I don’t care about stats, or the plays when he has 5 seconds to throw (aside from his ability to go through reads), but he can throw off platform, from the pocket and on the move, his release is Corral fast at times when he needs to make a quick throw, he has great feet and feel for the game, plenty of arm, and has shown accuracy and touch at all levels. Curious what your rankings would be, and any justifications you would like to share.

Our defense is talented. And currently our offensive line is taking care of business, and making life easy for the backs and whatever QB. Thats not a recipe for the 1st or 2nd pick. If we didn’t already have Corral, I’d be more concerned, but he allows me to just enjoy the ride right now. Obviously if you think Corral stinks you get no comfort lol. My conviction of his skill level hasn’t wavered though, as he was a 3rd rounder because of superficial reasons and not due to talent.

I don’t think we need to draft a QB high in this draft, but I’m also more confident in my evaluation of Corral than most. I also don’t see the franchise guy in this draft. I’m warming to Young thought. He’s hard to evaluate due to the talent around him, but he seems to have all you want in a QB outside of anything close to ideal size. Long season ahead still (obviously).

Well I know he wanted him at safety, but as a center field free safety though? Guess we will find out shortly.

Maybe some people are saying that literally, but when I say it (and I assume when others say it) they are actually saying “franchise QB with elite traits.” Cam was huge, fast, had a cannon, looked dominant in the SEC. So people are questioning if that kind of guy is in this upcoming draft, in whatever form of play style the player might have.

I don’t watch all the Bama games, but when I do, for large portions of the game, he has a hell of a nice pocket to move around in. People can talk about how this Bama line isn’t as good as usual, but it’s still full of huge recruits that Bama picked for a reason. Young makes some amazing plays moving in a 5 second pocket. Not saying he doesn’t have ability, it just makes him harder to individually evaluate.

All that Keith really lacks is deep speed (which CJ has), but Keith has ELITE size, and shows natural instincts which contribute to him playing faster than his timed speed. He was one of my favorite players last year, and although I still like CJ and his upside is crazy, Taylor needs some of his reps. That being said, you still need to give CJ reps. Keep developing him with experience. Get all the young guys on the field and season them for next year and beyond.

On one hand you can say he “whiffed” on the play he got hurt. On the other, he shot in quickly, slowing and altering Fournette’s path behind the LOS, allowing his teammates to drop him short on 4th down. I like Taylor and agree he needs reps, but CJ is so young still, flashes his elite athleticism, and has improved as a tackler since college. The tools are there. His main issue is PI’s when he doesn’t have to. Horn spoils us a little.

Why is everyone acting like OP is delusional? They simply asked a question based on a hypothetical (that wasn’t even that crazy of a hypothetical). Slow down and read. If you’re bothered, don’t participate in the thread.

Well what about everything else that CMC is elite at? Those things don’t contribute to winning? Positive yardage doesn’t contribute to winning? Nearly always making the first defender whiff doesn’t contribute to winning? Having elite WR hands doesn’t contribute to winning? You’re running up the middle example. When was this? Early in his career? He is fine running up the middle now, even if it’s not his ideal usage. Would you likewise penalize Nick Chubb if his coach decided he should split out wide and wasn’t productive doing so? I always find it odd when individual players are held accountable for the whole team winning or losing. We haven’t had a respectable QB/HC since Cam. That’s CMC’s fault? It’s not so simple as “look at our record with CMC. He isn’t a winner.” It’s just more complicated than that, especially in the ultimate of team sports.

Any given Sunday always applies. So many variables and parody. That’s what makes this sport so damn interesting.

Lockers stock dropped substantially. I’m a Mizzou fan, and consistently watching Gabbert made it obvious he wasn’t the dude. Cam was easily the best. He had/has a narrative around him about his character (which would hang with him his whole career, even after proving otherwise). Cam showed up at the combine and was a man amongst boys. Clear number one regarding talent, frame, and results. I remember seeing that SI cover and laughing. Even the way they are positioned in the photo makes it obvious.

Even after drafting Corral, I still wanted us to take Howell because why not? Lol Those two were my favorite QB’s in the draft.

It goes to show that with this defense, establishing the run, and having average or “game manager” quality QB play, this team is competitive. (Not different to what a lot of us thought prior to the season, and hoped we could get from Baker) Let’s see if Walker can do similar each week. If he could do so, he could “Rodney Peete” for Corral or another QB in this draft.
