If we make the playoffs, I think it’s a combination of resign Darnold (depends on money and I’m assuming he keeps game managing well), AND drafting someone to compete with Corral. Normally you keep 2 QB’s, but we need to figure the position out, so having two young guys to develop behind a game manager is a plausible way to go. I’ve expressed my liking of Corral, but you never know how someone responds to a lisfranc injury. You have to have another young guy to raise your chance of finding success at the position.

Bring Cam back for playoff run?

Everyone saying Luke for DC, but what about OC? He literally knew the opponents offense better than the they did. It seems silly, but has anyone studied offense like he did during his playing days? I just want this man coaching for us no matter what he’s coaching.

We could win back to back super bowls and those stupid towels will be everywhere.

How good is Brian Burns 2022 campaign?

No one offers multiple picks for any player if they don’t need the player. -

The mental gymnastics to make Burns a JAG is so entertaining. I’ll just be sippin Hennessy wondering why the Rams offered so much for this “slightly above average” player. -

The people still harping on the trade offer and repeating the same talking points is exhausting. Trade deadline is over. Everyone gets the argument for trading him. Everyone gets the arguments for keeping him. It’s groundhogs day in here. -
This. I don’t even have any issues with Elfein. I think he showed he is a top tier backup center. He was much better there than at guard. He absolutely isn’t better than Boze though. That is all on Rhule.

EPA/play shows you how much the poo offense the past few years has made the defense look worse than what it has been. With no offense, a defense has to work so much harder. On the field for longer. Shorter fields to defend. Less time for rest in between drives, and as Mark Schlereth pointed out yesterday (referring to Seattles defense) less time between drives means less time for a defense to make coaching adjustments too.

At the top is shows it measures garbage time as win probability being either below 20% or above 80%. Now how that is calculated, I’m not sure.

The same defense that forced Seattle into the situation of having to fight to get back into the game twice.

Darnold was not good, but he has made great decisions when nothing is there (or when he doesn’t see anything there). Taking sacks/throwing the ball away/using legs to buy time and not forcing the ball…I’ll take that from Sam. He looks calm and more mature out there, even if the stats aren’t there, because the bad stats (turnovers) aren’t there either.

I know this. But him not being traded (not his fault) and any contract he gets (not his fault) has resulted in people talking out their ass and pretending that he’s a JAG. It’s silly and jaded. -
Can Tepper find anyone better than Wilks?
Wundrbread33 replied to Saca312's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yup. And you saw how some viewed him, by only referencing his passing stats, and not including his rushing when comparing him to other QB’s. They didn’t get it. -

After watching (and defending) Cam against the crowd who wouldn’t give him his due because he wasn’t the elite passing QB, I think I can apply the same to Wilks. You might not have liked HOW Cam scored points but he scored as well as anyone. He moved the chains. That’s what his job was. Points. Wilks isn’t the sexy offensive genius winning games with wild offense, but he’s winning. I don’t give a poo. Just win baby. Just win. He’s making it hard to let him leave. That’s a damn good problem to have IMO. -
Official Panthers at Seahawks GameDay Thread

Why? If it’s because he’s a defensive coach, you still need to defend the other team. If it’s because he values the run game, you still have to do that as well unless you have a top 5 QB, and even they benefit from the run game. -

Peppers also had games without sacks and zero impact. Burns isn’t Peppers, but the over reacting and wanting to hate the dude is interesting to watch. -

Brian Burns is the fuging man. People need to separate the man from the trade offer. -

@CPantherKingmakes a good point about many quarterbacks simply not getting a chance. A 1st rounder nearly always gets a chance. Let’s use our very own Sam Darnold as an example. If he was drafted day 3, do you think he’d still be given chances? Or would he be out of the league? If he was a late round pick with the same talent, he may not ever see the field. Early draft picks can be the most talented, but other factors are money invested, front office reputation attached to those players, perception of talent based on draft position, etc. Makes you wonder if there was another Montana lite out there, who didn’t get burn. I don’t think talent always prevails. -
Baker having a chance to save his career is something to root for. He was awful for us (McAdoodoo didn’t help that) but he was a great teammate, and he kept his head held high.

Stats are a good starting point. They’re part of the puzzle. I don’t think they are useless, but if people rely on them too heavily they won’t get the full picture.
