  1. Guess I was watching the games @Ricky Spanish was watching. Sam improved more in the realm of eliminating mistakes and knowing when the play was over and ending it on his terms. Much more throw aways, and using his legs to buy time while keeping his eyes downfield. His stats weren’t great, but he made me less nervous because the game seemed to have slowed down for him a bit. Also playing behind a better line helped. I think it’s pretty easy to poo on Sam, and you won’t get internet points for saying good things about him, but he did indeed improve, and I’m fine saying it. That isn’t the same as saying I want him as the opening day starter, and I think a lot of people make that kind of leap in discussions like this.
  2. We shall see. The last game probably screwed him, even though the numbers don’t tell the whole story. Saints D was balling out, and he made several plays to eliminate bad plays (escaping the pocket/throwing the ball away). Even one of the picks was actually a good decision and would have been a great throw if it was 6 inches further downfield. The games before that, I thought he showed a lot of growth and maturity in his decision making. In the end the mantra I’m telling myself is “trust the staff” even if that ends up being Darnold as a bridge.
  3. I was just being a silly goose.
  4. We literally drafted one last draft.
  5. I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again. If Matt Corral went to Bama/Ohio St, he would have put up silly numbers, and he’d be hyped as a top 10 pick. Doesn't mean he, Young, Stroud end up being that kind of talent in the end, but he does things on tape that put him in that class of prospect. He got punished for playing through pain, getting hurt in the bowl game, and because he was a college kid who drank beer. His question marks are his lis franc, and what every QB has to deal with; mental adjustment to the NFL. I don’t want to hear poo about his size, particularly when Young is considered so highly. He has all the athleticism, intangibles, and arm you want.
  6. I agree that we have found greener pastures, but I won’t forget that Wilks was working with McAdoo and a QB room of Darnold, Baker, and PJ. Let’s just thank Wilks for reestablishing some dignity to this franchise and let him go in peace.
  7. I don’t think much can be made from these pressers regarding personnel. It’s all vague. Everyone wants a QB who facilitates to the playmakers but can make the play himself when he needs to. A QB who can stand strong in the pocket but can make plays with his feet. A strong arm with accuracy who can rifle it but knows when to throw with touch. Every QB is a “point guard”. But some QB’s are more Chris Paul and some are more Ja Morant.
  8. Lol dude I think you combine people in your head or something. I’m not on Carr’s nuts. I simply said what I said about the overuse of “retread”, lumping every QB in the same category, you responded, I asked you to clarify your definition of retread, and you didn’t respond to that but argued something I wasn’t taking about. Stay organized.
  9. It’s becomes tiresome when you spend time on a post, ask questions, and then the reply changes the topic. We went from defining “retread” to arguing something I’m not arguing. I’m on the “improve the QB position” train, regardless of trade/sign/draft. I wanted to point out that “retread” is a blanket statement of negativity towards (in particular) quarterbacks from other teams. And that it’s a poor form to apply the term to both a Sam Darnold and a Carr as if they are the same thing.
  10. “Umm yes he’s the QB” doesn’t cut it. It’s too simple. Team game. And why doesn’t he fit with this roster? A Stafford comparison isn’t silly. Stafford went from disfunction to a team with an offensive plan and he thrived. We may not be as talented as that Rams team, but we have been competitive with absolute liabilities at QB. We have a staff that will know how to run an offense, and we are a playoff team with a competent QB, especially in our trash division. Winning a Super Bowl is hard, so you don’t have to call him Stafford, but Stafford lite is a realistic scenario.
  11. People keep saying “he has 2 winning seasons out of 9”, but can you confidently say that’s his fault?
  12. What’s your definition of “retread”? Additionally, how is the term used in context on this board? (Was “retread” used by Ram fans when they were winning games with Stafford for example) These must be defined in order for a “truth” statement to be arrived at. If we assumed “his team decided to move on” is your definition, then would you consider any free agent or trade acquisition as a “retread”? Even players who you personally like? Or is it, as I assume, a term reserved to talk about players from other teams in a negative light.
  13. Wonder how good Purdy is at Fortnite. That aside I think it’s incomplete if it’s just a one off test. Probably not an oversight, as doing a 45 minute test 5-10 times is quite the demand for the participants. Very interesting though and thanks for sharing. First thing that popped in my head were those vision reaction tests during eye exams.
  14. We nailed LT after years of poo play from the position, and people are downplaying it. If you aren’t satisfied with Icky then I’m concerned with you. Can’t imagine walking around with that level of stress and anxiety.
  15. Unless Tremble has turned a corner, or Ricci (who can actually get open and catch) gets more burn…then yes. FA and draft one.
  16. That’s the problem with calling every QB who changes teams a “retread” like they are all the same.
  17. So is this a reaction time test to visual stimuli? If so, were the subjects tested multiple times on different days or just once? You really need an average score over many testing sessions to gauge each subjects performance. However a test calculating speed while making the correct decision with multiple stimuli in play is a hell of a lot better and relevant than a wonderlic.
  18. Someone will make a “dur panthers suck” joke, but Horn is arguably the best player on our team regardless of position, and some of y’all make it sound like he can’t be seen in the same room as Sauce.
  19. I admittedly haven’t watched Sauce, but I’ve watched Horn. If Sauce is better than that…just go ahead and put him in the hall.
  20. I agree Jb. Take a chance at coaching the most physically gifted QB prospect. Stay asset rich. Even trading up to 5 or so for their preferred QB I could get on board with, even though what you proposed is still too rich for my blood (I get that’s what it may cost though, especially with a bidding war). I do lean more conservative regarding trades though. I think between Richardson and Corral, you have two guys with NFL traits, Corral possibly more refined at this point, Richardson with a higher ceiling/better frame and surely this staff could develop the future between those two.
  21. This staff signing/trading for a QB, and Rhule signing/trading for a QB shouldn’t been seen in the same light.
  22. You can draft a QB without giving most of the premium picks of his rookie contract away while doing so. There are more options than “risk it for the biscuit” and “hide in your house” fear. Like mountain climbing is dangerous. You can free climb that mountain (trade up to 1). You can also take action to minimize risk with safety equipment. Free climbing is great for those who don’t slip.
  23. Yes. Sign me up for resigning Darnold, and developing a 1st/2nd round QB and Corral, while also adding 1st and 2nd round talent for the next 3 years to our roster. I get wanting a QB, but is it unreasonable for some of us to prefer the above situation to gambling all that on 1 player?
