  1. You will be shocked by the poster who poo’d this. That aside, I agree with OP to the core. Cheers friend. Too much to be excited about right now as a Panthers fan.
  2. Yes absolutely. But as I told Gerry in a reply, at the end of the day I can’t base it on anything but instinct and size bias. I naturally think small guys get hurt more than big guys because it seems like common sense, but I can’t prove that instinct is valid. There’s just so many variables. Think all the way back to Doug Flutie. He only got a chance because the big prototype guy couldn’t stay healthy. Young may get hurt right away, and if he does it will be blamed on his size, but even then…that might not be the reason even if it’s the first thought that comes to mind. A great example is our boy Corral. What happened when he injured his lis franc? Everyone said “injury prone” and “frail frame”….but…that’s bullshit. He hurt his lis franc because he was unlucky. His cleat was planted, and the pass rusher spun him in an awkward way (just like with Cam). Corral isn’t a little kid getting tossed around. He’s a professional athlete that got twisted in a way the foot didn’t like. Horn is labeled as injury prone. He had a random non contact injury his first year, then, him doing nothing wrong, got blasted with friendly fire by one of our hardest hitters directly on his arm and it broke. Just makes me lean more toward complete randomness than anything else. I get it if people think I’m spouting nonsense though. It’s just observational stuff.
  3. I like CJ a lot too. I like Corral as well (and catch hate for that lol). I’ve given up on worrying about Young getting hurt. At the end of the day, I assume being small means “hurt more often” but I can’t back that up with anything outside of bias and instinct (personally…just me), so I’m letting it go. Darnold gets hurt consistently, and he’s prototype. Hooker in this draft? Prototype…got hurt. Big Ben…huge…dealt with injuries his whole career. This doesn’t prove anything I know, but it seems more random than anything, and at minimum more complicated; with more variables than simple height a weight. Some guys are tougher than others too. How flexible is the player? How instinctual are they? Do they “feel” a big hit coming and get down? Are they too tough for their own good (maybe Cam)? Do they have frail bones or thick bones? Maybe diet influences? Genes? You get the idea. Just too many variables and hypotheticals. I get the concern though because I’ve felt it too, but I just don’t know how valid the concern I feel is or not. Anyway I think you are a good poster Gerry so don’t let the trolls get you down.
  4. Lots of game tape showing what happens then. He’s at an advantage for sure. Despite not having a Mahomes arm, that’s why people throw the Mahomes comparison out there. He also navigates and buys time within the pocket at a high level, and has a 6th sense for the line of scrimmage. So he evades in, and out of the pocket, while keeping his eyes downfield. It’s quite impressive.
  5. The only part of his game that leaves me wanting more is his arm strength. I’ve said it before that it’s good enough it won’t hold him back, but it’s probably somewhere between Teddy and Sam in strength, which is enough, but like everyone I love a laser if possible.
  6. I thought this too but saw more footage BEHIND him, and that really allowed me to watch his head, and how he goes through his reads and what he sees. Sometimes when he holds the ball, he actually sees an open guy, but checks a potential better option, and if covered, he goes back to the open man he saw. He won’t have that option as frequently in the NFL, but that can be coached, since he does indeed go through reads quickly. I think he naturally was confident in his line, so his inner clock knew he had the time to do that. If he gets accustomed to less time, he will adjust. At least that’s what it looked like to me. We shall see.
  7. People shitting on BBQ from different places always made me laugh. It’s just like anywhere else. There are phenomenal places there. There are phenomenal places here too. But excellence is hard. Excellence is rare. So you have to know where to go. Most BBQ places, painters, mechanics, doctors, teachers, QB prospects…suck. If you stumble on excellence; that’s rare, so enjoy it.
  8. That will be a blast. I have family over there. Enjoy some KC BBQ (Kansas City Joe’s). If there’s anything the Midwest people do well, its finding the best way to cook livestock. You road tripping or flying?
  9. Meh I probably should just take a break from the internets until the draft. I like discussing football but it’s so redundant at the moment.
  10. Acting like it means nothing is not what I’m talking about. People writing paragraphs about his size concerns like it’s a novel observation is what I’m talking about. Like no poo. EVERYONE KNOWS. ”He’ll be small a year from now.” EVERYONE KNOWS. ”Durability concerns…” EVERYBODY KNOWS. That’s all I’m saying.
  11. I don’t understand why people keep talking about Bryce being small at this point. EVERYONE KNOWS. “He might get hurt…” EVERYONE KNOWS ”Smallest ever QB” EVERY. PERSON. KNOWS.
  12. Even the f-150’s enjoyed 2015. All a QB has to do is win nearly every game all the time.
  13. At this point, why not just agree to disagree and move on? Stick with you assumption, but allow others to have their assumptions too, and let’s just see how it plays out.
  14. Small guy get hit harder by big guy mean small guy more likely hurt. Historical data has been provided that suggests the opposite. You criticize others for assuming he won’t get hurt, but you are doing the same in the other direction; assuming he will get hurt.
  15. Since there isn’t a fair comparison of him in NFL history, your statement that he “will more that likely have injury issues” is an assumption.
  16. Sounds like I fully understand. What you are saying isn’t complex. Being healthy in the SEC does not guarantee he is healthy in the NFL. Either your issue is people comparing the SEC to the NFL (in your case, regarding health) or people talking with certainty (absolutes) that he will stay healthy, when absolutes simply don’t exist. Is this what you mean?
  17. So essentially what you are saying is that the SEC isn’t the NFL, right? As in, he may have been relatively healthy in the SEC, but it’s still not the NFL. The NFL is a different beast. If so, that argument can be made for anything done in the SEC. Football skill included. “A player played well in the SEC, but the NFL is a different level.” ”A player stayed healthy in the SEC, but the NFL is…” ”A QB had a lot of rushing yards in the SEC, but the NFL is…” At the end of the day, the SEC isn’t the NFL, but it’s the closest to the NFL regarding the talent level. It’s the big boy college conference. Young may get hurt. It may be because he’s small (which will be the default explanation) but it may not be because of his size at all. Take Corral’s lis franc, and Cam’s lis franc. That is a season ender, and it has nothing to do with size. It’s more of a result of the cleat being planted, while being twisted down to the ground. poo happens. I’m not worried about it until I have to be.
  18. People assuming Cam wouldn’t be a good mentor or coach? I think he would be, but I think his personality would be perfect to coach high school/college age young men. He’s mentally strong, a great motivator, hard worker; natural leader.
  19. This makes me think of the ridiculous raw athleticism that Brandon Smith has. I’m excited for this staff to work with him.
  20. Because college stats and the prestige of the school you went to matter for awards, but don’t matter for transitioning to the pros. It’s more complicated than that. Also, Bryce Young is a damn good football player.
  21. It’s gonna be okay Rip. Young has been told he’s too small his whole life and he just keeps his head down and works; proving people wrong. He might not work out of course, but he has a better chance than you give him credit for imo. But we have Corral too who you and I both like. If Young doesn’t work out, we aren’t dead in the water at all. We have not 1 but 2 lotto tickets to fix QB.
  22. …and I still would have been excited as long as McAdoodoo wasn’t retained. Wilks was that transition manager who cracks skulls and hits the reset button after the last guy fuged everything up. That being said I love where we are at. But nothing but love for coach Wilks.
  23. All these super fan parody accounts make me doubt free speech as being fundamental.
  24. Some good stuff in this thread. Gonna check out some corners on YouTube tonight. I’d love to add a corner as this class seems deep, as this should be a make or break camp for CJ and Taylor. Maybe I’m sleeping on STO3 as well.
