  1. YGM would paradoxically be both a surprise cut, and a surprise if he made the roster.
  2. Smith balls out on special teams too. Might have made the difference.
  3. If Corral isn’t on the 53, the amount of pie in the celebration thread will crash this site.
  4. The depth chart had him listed as a starter, and then he was cut. Why the fug would anyone be curious that the fan base would have a reaction to that? Has nothing to do with how good he was/wasn’t.
  5. It takes a “special kind of stupid” to admit your mistakes?
  6. Bingo. And all this points to what’s reality: that this is a TEAM sport, no matter how hard we, as fans, try to evaluate players in a vacuum. We are literally a few years removed from the best QB in the league getting BLOWN OUT in the Super Bowl against the Bucs because even he couldn’t get it done without the help of his offensive line. And then there is bias: Young this preseason received the benefit of the doubt because his line wasn’t giving him time (which is true), but just a year ago, Corral was getting his helmet ripped off, and had no pocket, and this board was full of “Corral sucks” takes. If we don’t slow down to think things through, then our emotions will lead to wildly inconsistent and conflicting thoughts.
  7. I think he makes the team based on special teams. He sometimes beats the gunners down the field after initially blocking. He shows off his speed on kickoffs too. And he hits like a truck. Maybe he makes a career being a gangster on special teams. We loved Karl Hankton and he never was a usable wide out. He was just a pro and a team leader on special teams.
  8. Good luck. The path ahead is a rocky one.
  9. I think Tremble has been misused from the jump. His ND tape is a lead blocking wet dream with a few catches throw in. He’s never been used that way. Or maybe he has sucked blocking NFL players and just beat up on college guys.
  10. He laid the wood multiple times this preseason. Good special teamer too. Now if he was getting out physicalled by linemen, he may just be terrible shedding blocks. No matter how great his size is for LB, a 320lb man will still make him look silly if they get their hands on him.
  11. Are we talking today Dalton? Or Dalton with AJ Green and Houshmandzadeh? Nice guy? Sure. Hope he never sees the field.
  12. Yeah I like him. Wish he was given the looks that Ian and Tremble get. He makes the most of his targets.
  13. Hasn’t YGM had considerably more snaps than Johnson and Rucker in their first years though? I know for sure with Rucker, and Rucker I’m sure benefitted from the vets he got to learn behind. YGM has flashed nothing as a pass rusher. Even when he gets there, he’s the 2nd or 3rd dude…and that’s his best so far. Definitely rooting for him. He’s frustrating because he could fix a huge problem if he can just turn it on. We want him to be good.
  14. I get what you are saying but we must be careful not to exaggerate things. Also we don’t know the full picture. Outside of one throw that looked 2-3 yards behind the receiver, most of his incompletions were passes that hit the receivers hands, but in a poor location, forcing the receiver to adjust their body. Bad day? Lacked chemistry with receivers? Probably both to some degree. And the prior two games he completed 68%. Now completion percentage is a Teddy Bridgewater stat, and doesn’t mean much to me, but it is indicative of a QB who, indeed IS putting the ball in “the same zip code as his receivers.”
  15. Unless he absolutely fell off a cliff, he can have Ian’s spot yesterday.
  16. I’d take the former option, but I don’t like Dalton (on field, but I’m sure he helps as an assistant QB coach), and I’d rather have another young dude developing until we see more of Bryce. I find more value in that than another fringe roster spot. But my opinion isn’t more valid than yours. Just preference.
  17. With how bad QB has been…I still wanted Howell after we drafted Corral lol. But we have Young so hopefully we won’t have to care about QB for a long time. That would be nice. We shall see.
  18. There’s no concept of patience or development here. Some dude even insinuated you can’t develop at all as a backup, like practice doesn’t exist or something. Guess they think if you aren’t playing on Sunday, you are banished from the stadium, and your playbook is burned.
  19. Didn’t have a good game regarding ball placement, but he made a lot of good decisions with the ball, and didn’t turn it over. He led an inefficient TD drive, but it was a TD drive nonetheless, and he showed his running ability. I still like what I see enough for him to be considered to develop as a backup. Dalton makes me feel that way even more.
  20. Watching because the next two weeks will take a lifetime to get here.
  21. Dalton is Rodney Peete with red hair. I’d keep Corral just because of that.
