Common sense. If you have to rely on a pounding ground game, you keep the players who show the most upside. Just hope that the powers that be see it the same way.

Last big trade this team made was for Olsen back in the Hurney era. Don't think D.G has that mindset to do so. Maybe sign someone out there now or after cuts, but I doubt any big trades for players or draft picks. If he did it would be against the tendencies he has shown so far.

Funchess better get trained up fast....least he has the size to compensate for KB if it is a tear. Put that guy in the film room and on the jugs machine asap.

With the uncertainty of our tackles, a guy like Ward is a valuable piece of the puzzle. Having a stop gap in the backfield may be invaluable to Cam's health.

They have a mack truck waiting in the wings. Shula should know how to use the kid since they had a bruiser in Tampa Bay. We will see what happens Add Tolbert,Stew, and Cam to the mix and you have a wrecking crew to deal with.

This is one future hire that MUST be correct. It wouldn't take someone but a couple of years to start screwing up what D.G. has started to do with this organization. Things in this league can head south fast without the proper leadership.

I don't think charges have to be filed for the NFL to take action. If there is a video showing him punching people and hitting a woman with a belt, then clearly it was an action that the NFL has made clear they will not tolerate.

Per article in N.O Times-Picauyne, there is a video from 2013 at Spring Break in South Beach showing him in various fist fights and striking people with a belt including a woman. Cell phones are everywhere with clear video capabilities. The NFL is now aware of this video. Looks like he is in further trouble besides the other crap he was involved in. Some guys are just a problem.. That is all the article says besides stuff we already know about his past problems.

I would much prefer a football guy with a strong scouting resume then a money guy. Keep Beane as the top money guy and find someone in the Getts mold to handle the draft/FA etc.

Just the fact that he picked in their mocks now makes me believe that is the plan.....hope D.G stays till he is eighty.

Brandon Beane has been promoted to assistant GM. He was the interm GM before 'The Godfather'. D.G is no spring chIcken and his weight may be a problem in the years to come. Really wouldn't like another non football guy running the show. Big part of Getts ability is his football savy and finding talent. Think it would be a big mistake to go that route again and rely on a front office guy to take the helm. They should have learned from the Hurney mistake that this doesn't work.....opinions?

If Ward is as good a lead blocker as some claim and can pick up the blitz, then he is a no brainer. When your oline is still a question mark, a tank in the backfield can make all the difference.
