I felt the #18 poo was irrelevant as well and it’s cornball. DJ Johnson could easily bust, easily. The Ojulari argument is baffling whether he wore 18 or 69 or played at LSU or UNC. 6 sacks in power 5 is 6 sacks in power 5 to me. Ojulari….the better prospect heads up. But this weird argument that he was worthy of 39 and we should have went there, but Johnson is an F minus pick at 80 is absurd when you compare both production in 2022 and testing numbers.

Third year at OLB vs first year. Stats don’t lie. I get the age knock and still don’t like the pick. But BJ Ojulari is a poor argument. I don’t give a fug about #18, it’s irrelevant.Brian Kelly is a murderer, don’t tell me anything about character and reference a school that hired a murderer.

The BJ Ojulari argument is one of the worst that I can remember. His stats matched Johnson’s last year despite it being the first year Johnson has played the position. Yep the huddles draft crush got matched by a first year 25 year old with zero pass rushing technique. Woof. What an indictment on Ojulari

Pick is still a head scratcher but every time I look at the picks it makes me feel better. Around pick 60 the suck really entered this draft. Covid super seniors really changed the landscape of this draft. There are guys who are better than those who were drafted who haven’t started a game yet in CFB. It’s just weird.

You know when you bring in a “power back” on 4th and 1 you are telegraphing quite a bit. Pretty much a handoff to that person or PA fake with a roll out. It’s one of the dumbest things that teams do. If you open your eyes you’ll see that type of thing get stuffed a lot

I took that as 4 specific types of LB. Don’t think you can have 4 specific types of OLB, numbers don’t work to have that luxury.

I really like Jaylon Jones out of ATM no idea where he tests or ranks. Rush is a nice long corner with upside.

As a Miami fan, this has me tripping, no lie. But maybe DJ is a 3-4 OLB only guy. Richt didn’t run 3-4 at Miami. Mario ran 4-3 at Oregon. Maybe Lannings 3-4 was the key to unlocking who Johnson really is

It is stunning. It doesn’t mean the sky is falling. He’s not like Gaulden because he’s an elite athlete. He’s not like Kugbila because he didn’t play at Podunk st. But his stats are like BJ Olujari who this board was in love with because a guy with bad hair and some nerds named Walter or Daniel told them do be.

Missed evaluations happen everywhere. Quantity does not always equal quality. To quote the horrible Dave Gettleman, “do you want a quarter or do you want 5 nickels?” We might have missed out on a game changer by trading 132, but likely not. They guy has 0 pass rush moves with his hands. Biggest red flag, but he only played rush LB for a year. I destroyed the pick for 10 mins on here and Twitter, but I’m over it. I get why the pick was made and my initial reaction was short sighted and microwaved

Ojulari and DJ Johnson- Same stats for 2022. The love fest makes no sense. Everything else. Well said. WR is pick your flavor, same tier. Brian Branch is a bad mother…Honey Badger lite and I would’ve loved him. Need depth at OL no doubt.

I agree we need depth there. But we have made a ton of investments there too(finally) We also need depth at CB and RB. Hell everywhere but WR I guess.

Ohhhh this I can get with. BJ and DJ same stats for 2022. I think Tuli, Foskey, and White are YGM, meaning I think they are all 4-3 DE in the Pros. Young was a fit and I think that triggered the trade. I hated the DJ Johnson pick at first. Called him a senior citizen. But it’s growing on me. You never know who works and and who don’t. These guys talking about their crushes like they are top 10 can’t miss guys killing me over here.

Agree on the reaches, but 39-80 who is the can’t miss dude we passed on? Who is the day one starter? Arguments can be made for corners and nickels I guess. We already invested a fug ton in OL.
