  1. This cast is not built for coaches and play callers that can't scheme - like Rivera. Hopefully this staff can figure out how to exploit mismatches and scheme guys open. And don't forget about Laviska. Homerun threat any time the ball is in his hands.
  2. I think the WR room is just fine. All the boxes are checked - just not all in one guy. It'll be up to the coaches to figure out their strengths and the best way to use them. Bigger concern is the TE room. If Hurst brings a consistent pass catcher there, then Bryce, Thomas and Reich will have everything they need to be successful.
  3. I'm a huge Kuechly fan. Huge! He wasn't LT, Prime, Sugar Ray, Reggie White, Aaron Donald or Ed Reed level. He was a BEAST. But most of those guys changed the game in one way or another. Not a game but THE GAME.
  4. Nah Ricky, I can't get with that. Greg Hardy was a different dude. I liked his game more than Peppers. Not saying he was better than Pep, but Hardy scared the ish out of QBs. Stats don't tell the story of how crazy he was on the field. How many times he pressured Brees and Ryan into doing dumb ish - two of the most poised QBs in the NFL. How many times he crushed QBs. He had a relentless motor. Non stop. That same crazy hurt him off the field, but that mofo is my #2. He ain't Peppers, but prime Hardy is a true difference maker.
  5. Cam just wasn't afraid of the hits. He played like he was indestructible, and for awhile he was. But it eventually caught up to him. However it is not an indication of his intelligence or lack thereof.
  6. Or Cam with a half way competent HC. Like the common sense to actually make an attempt to build around your franchise QB.
  7. I'm ready for the next level of middle/inside linebacker player this team has had since, well, always.
  8. Keep watching. His deficiencies were alarming to me.
  9. If Drew Brees or Tom Brady or Dan got dam Fouts had Cam's situation here most of his career, they wouldn't have lasted either. The situation they're drafted into plays a big role in how successful a player will be. And that's any position. The good thing is who ever they draft, this staff has enough common sense to protect him and provide him weapons - early enough that he'll be developed to his full potential. Developing their #1 overall QB will be a priority, not an after thought. Not an "oh by the way" we don't have a starting caliber Tackle on the team. Or "oh by the way" we don't have any wide outs that could start on any other team in the NFL.
  10. Hopkins has been around long enough to realize what's happening in Charlotte. He sees the high level coaching. He sees the commitment to winning - and not just the balance sheet. He sees the commitment to improving the offense by going all the way to the #1 pick to bring in a QB. And he's from SC. Sure he wants to win a Super Bowl, but more importantly he wants to play meaningful games in December. And doing it in front of your family every home game is HUGE!
  11. I seriously doubt Fitt gives up the #39 pick in the draft for a 30 years old WR. I would lose a lot of confidence in him if he did. And I really want Hopkins!
  12. Not attacking your post. It's valid. But if any team's fans should know size doesn't make a receiver, then it should be the us. I'd take Smitty/Ginn/Philly Brown over Funchess/KB/Jarrett any day.
  13. Oh snap! When do the Panthers play the Bears?! It's gonna be blood and guts!
  14. Defensive players in general have always been the hallmark of this team. That and running backs. Hopefully that changes with an offensive HC.
  15. Let me clarify. I wouldn't want another DJ Moore. I would want more of a press breaker, route runner, great hands guy. In my opinion, DJ wasn't great in this role, but good. And separately, a guy that can run jet sweeps, screens, reverses, or even line up as a RB (though the Panthers may already have that in Shenault). I think you replace DJ with multiple guys, with different skill sets.
  16. Yeah, I was with him until the Burns trade scenario. Not sure I'm onboard with all that. But if Fitts could pull Hopkins and Thielen... and throw in a receiving TE. A young QB would be in pretty good shape for the next 2 years.
  17. I think that pick will be very telling, coupled with FA moves. Are they truly trying to develop a young QB, or are they in win-now mode? A vet WR and/or TE is essential - along with a strong oline. But will they bring in a young receiving threat to grow with our new QB as well? If they draft a pass rusher or a LB in the second, I think they're more in the win-now mode.
  18. I think Moore can easily be replaced with a better WR. He's more than a WR though, similar to Deebo Samuel. Ultimately would take 2 players to match or upgrade what he brings to the table. A pure WR to me is more if a Hopkins/Diggs. Can beat the press, great route runner, and exceptional hands. Most WRs now are just athletes, and are weak on the technical aspects of the position.
  19. I remember having a conversation about football after church and brought up Steve Smith. Not one person even knew who he was. This was in 2007 or 2008 when he was arguably the best WR in the NFL.
  20. You sir are correct. Got caught up in my Super Bowl rant. Forgot they didn't even make it to the Super Bowl, because that QB they gave up so much to get... was injured. They're still a strong team though and could have gone if Brock didn't get hurt.
  21. Sir... The Eagles didn't even win with the QB they went up to get. As a matter of fact, Wentz missed the entire playoffs. That team was stacked - especially their defense. The Rams went with a proven vet they knew could get them over the hump. That team was stacked - especially their defense. The 49ers just went to the Super Bowl with Mr. Irrelevant. The very last player (not just QB) picked in the draft - as a rookie. That team was stacked - especially their defense. But the Panthers should give up a bunch of 1st and 2nd round picks to get a QB. Like no other positions matter.
  22. Good teams that were a QB away. That is not Carolina - yet.
  23. I honestly wouldn't mind giving up a bit to get a good young QB. Just not too excited about giving up the haul needed to get to #1. There are good QBs that won't be picked by #9. If these coaches are as good as advertised, then shouldn't need to give up so much for competent play at the position.
