As a human being, I feel for him losing his mother to cancer. Lost my father and mother to different forms of cancer. As a Panthers fan... nah he wasn't it. Don't forget "vets over talent" had Luke Kuechly at outside linebacker until Beason was injured. There were many others, but that was obviously the most egregious example of playing guys out of position, or not even playing them because- favorites.

I wouldn't say he completely ignored the oline. He just thought bubble gum and duct tape was enough to hold it together. All while spending high draft capital on the d-line.

Don't forget about Derrick Brown. He has turned into a monster. I think competent QB play is the team's biggest problem. Then coaching/play calling, and lastly a sideline to sideline middle LB. No team is perfect. Panthers shore those issues and they'll be tough to beat. Easier said than done with the first 2 though.

I'd say this oline has the highest potential based on age and starts. If they're all still together in 2 years (maybe midway through next season), I'd expect them to be one of the best in the NFL.

How so? Are you saying you think a great rookie QB has more impact on wins/losses than the coaches and staff?

This, in my opinion, is exponentially important than the 22 year old QB brought in to "save the franchise."

Oddly enough Cam struggled with the short gimmies. He would tend to fire the ball to the receiver, not giving himself any room for error. Probably just needed to take a little off. But... I've never seen any QB throw that deep out like young Cam. That mofo would throw a 15 yard out late and the DB couldn't do anything but watch it.

Pretty sure I saw DJ take his helmet off after a big drop on the drive before the long TD. He was definitely on the field then. No flag. I guess it only matters if you score a potentially game-winning TD.

Rivera was the wrong coach for Cam. Defensive minded, super conservative, gave no Fs about an o-line. Cam showed everyone in 2015 that if he had a decent o-line, he could win with JAGs at WR. Yet Rivera never made the o-line a priority - idiot.

Panthers needed a Fitts to fix this oline for Cam and Rivera. Showed it wasn't as hard as they made it seem. Rivera had healthy Cam, CMC, Moore, Olsen and Curtis Samuel in 2018 and couldn't produce. Imagine what Shanahan does with that group. Hell, imagine what he'd do with CMC, Moore, TMJ and Laviska - even with Baker at the helm.

And it doesn't matter if the team doesn't get the right coaching staff in here. I don't agree with not trading Burns, but Fitts has done a great job in my opinion.

Burns is not worth two 1s and a 2. No one on this team is. Very few players in the NFL are. Should have taken that trade. I don't care where the picks fall. And future picks can used as leverage to move up in this draft.

I know Bama has historically been a bad QB school. But the past few QBs out of Bama would be better than anything we've had since Cam.
