Positive Vibes - Sam Darnold Edition**
Navy_football replied to SetfreexX's topic in Carolina Panthers
I tell you what... he can make all the throws! Even those deep outside timing routes that many QBs shy away from. And he kills the seam and skinny post. -
Sam Darnold , other starters WILL play Saturday.

I get that this season is not DIRECTLY comparable to past seasons. My only concern is that games are drastically different than practices, even joint ones. Starters are usually on a play/time count in that 3rd preseason game. And teams have used the 4th game in case they wanted to get them in a bit longer, for confidence if nothing else. -
In hindsight he probably should have jumped on it - yes. Maybe. It's not the split decision move that bothers me, it's the BS narrative that he jumped away from the pile to avoid contact that triggers me. As if we all haven't watched him run over, stiff arm and juke some of the best defenders in the NFL like Earl Thomas. And not sure if WE wouldn't have more readily identified the true intentions of Brees or Ryan in that situation. You know them being so cerebral and all.

This is the second to last game of preseason. Didn't starters usually go at least a quarter in the 3rd game in the past? He'll have all next week to heal. It's important that he get some live game reps this week. 4/6, 45 yards. 0 TDs, 0 INTs. We'll be trying to establish a running game to identify CMC's backup. Now CMC needs to stay home. Don't even have him in the stadium. -
It's obvious to anyone with half a brain (and with the propensity for objectivity) that Cam was anticipating the ball popping out and bouncing to his right. Which it did. He just couldn't pull it from the defender. He didn't dive on it initially, but he's in the scrum. Nothing about that man's career would ever lead you to believe he was scared or a quitter.

RPOs yes. A dynamic talent at RB will force Safeties to move up and "cheat" a little against the run. CMC is a dynamic talent. If you did mean to say read option, then no way. Darnold isn't the type of natural runner you'd want to read keys in a QB-running read option setting. A predetermined QB keeper after faking the handoff - maybe something like a bootleg is more of his style.

Carolina Panthers are STILL interested in Deshaun Watson

I read the article you posted - and a few others related to the accusations against Watson. Yeah, hard pass for me. He should seek pyschotherapy before seeking massage therapy. He's lucky no one's retaliated against him yet. -

In no way would I condone inappropriate and/or unwanted contact or advances towards any woman. But I do agree with this statement. You know why you were requested - usually consistent with how you present yourself on social media outlets. If he forced someone to do something they didn't want to do, then that's a completely different story. If he presented a proposal, then... we're all adults here. And no, I have not been following this story and don't know the details. -
And somehow losing Kelvin Benjamin for the season...
-
Chandler, Bell and Amini all at the same time. 4 man rushes looked like jailhouse blitzes on the regular.
-
Hahaha, that was a fiasco! An undrafted DT at that. A practice squad DT converted to starting RT for your #1 overall pick in the draft QB? What could possibly go wrong?!
-
Is that an "X" receiver? That looks like a double wing formation to me. Killer in pee wee and service academies. Probably not so much in the NFL...

I don't think it's even close. That 2003 team was STACKED! The only positions that were better from 2015 was TE and QB. I love Luke but Dan Morgan was a F'ing dawg tackling machine in the Middle. Witherspoon was an easy comp to Davis (once again I LOVE Thomas Davis). RBs, WRs, DL, OL, DBs, all considerably better in 2003. Heck we had the best place kicker in the history of the franchise on that team - even though he choked in the big game. Don't know if they'd beat them. Cam was playing that good, but you can't argue the talent on the rosters.

DaQuan Jones on The Golden Calf of Bristol
Navy_football replied to Smithers's topic in Carolina Panthers
You're right, it definitely is. But... situations. Remember that Thursday night Tampa Bay game in 2019? Even if we'd just drafted Trevor, it would be difficult not to put in a goal line specialist in that moment. Getting reps for your rookie QB is a hard sale to vets looking to win now. -
I wouldn't discount Saleh's influence so quickly. He's a defensive mastermind who believes in pressuring the QB into making bad decisions. Darnold better be ready with the hot reads or it could get ugly for him, painfully ugly. I see CMC and whoever is starting at TE having a major impact.

I hear you loud and clear. But the Panthers had a couple of REALLY good running backs in 2011, when Cam Newton broke the QB single season rushing TD record. I remember a couple of hits that year that made me wince, even as big as that mofo was as a rookie. Reps are important, but wins are life. And don't discount the point of showing defenses different looks/options just to get them to spend precious practice time preparing against - distraction. -

There is definitely a role for The Golden Calf of Bristol. He'll never have a chance to start. Everyone knows that. He won't take ANY practice snaps from Lawrence - EVER. He's an extremely versatile athlete that at the very least could be a goal line QB that takes those shots instead of Lawrence. And if he's on the field, the defense will have to prepare for him possibly throwing the ball. At the very least, he's a gadgety distraction. At best, he's a high character locker room influence that has a penchant for punching the ball in on the goal line. Hell Cam made a living doing that, but I'd gladly have had a punching bag come in and take those hits instead. -

And the playoffs... -
My European friends have been laughing at me since the last Presidential election. Every time I see them they start off with jokes about our president. Every. Single. Time.

I think 'Eight O Clock' is for the more refined coffee drinker that actually enjoys a good coffee. Not just sugar and caramel. Sort of like a tall cold mug of Guinness.

Not sure why Cam refuses to run the ball when the play isn't there.
