Oh they gone fight today.

Yall tripping trying to justify yourselves right now. Bryce Young didn't even play. He wasn't even suited up for the game. It makes no sense to even mention his name in this thread, let alone hijack the discussion. Didn't mention DJ or Theilen. Tommy Tremble or Moton aren’t being mentioned either. Why Bryce Young? Nobody is trying to defend him. I'm just tired of some of y'all killing threads so you can get your daily Bryce Bash in. If he sucks this season, everyone here will want him out just as much as you. If it's the topic then go at him. But you don't always have to find a reason to let everyone know how bad you think Bryce is. Jeez.
-
No I want to find out what's going on around the league as it relates to the carolina panthers. I don't want to have every thread turn into Bryce sucks, let me count the ways. It's annoying as fug and I'm really not a Bryce Young fan.

It really is annoying. I guess that's why they keep doing it. Attention is a hell of a drug.

Prayers up Mr. Scot! We miss you around here.

Bryce Young won't play in preseason opener
Navy_football replied to Carolina Panthers's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think the improvements at both offensive guard positions would have made a huge difference last season. Throw in a receiver (DJ) that can create separation, another that can run after the catch (XL maybe), plus a pass catching TE (Sanders) and the offense should be better - even if no one else improves from last season. I think this defense is better without Burns honestly. The run defense should be solid without him and YGM consistently not setting the edges. Pass rush is definitely a concern, but honestly it was last season too. Secondary is a push unless Jaycee is healthy. If he plays, they're better too. -

The idea is that improvements in pass protection will occur between now and week 1. Oline takes time to gel. That's pretty standard. There are 3 new starters in the middle. They will likely improve as a unit in another 3 weeks. -

And he shouldn’t unless there is a vast improvement in pass pro. Makes no sense to further shell shock your starting QB that already got the ish kicked out of him his rookie year. -
Ian Rapoport on Bryce: "Everyone had Bryce Young #1"
Navy_football replied to Icege's topic in Carolina Panthers
Didn't think they should have traded up for a QB. Too many quesion marks at Oline and receiver. Trading DJ made it even worse. After trading up, Richardson was the only one that made sense to me. Figured he could just make enough plays with his legs to win games. Say what you want, but the Huddle would have been dogging Stroud if he would have come here too. Just for different reasons. -

Bryce isn't playing because he isn't confident the oline can protect right now. That's it. The Jets practices, assuming everyone is healthy, will go a long way in them giving Bryce the green light for the rest of the preseason. -
You'd think. But Huddle gonna Huddle.

Iron sharpens iron!

Bad snap and immediate pressure up the middle. Yo this team can't keep doing this. Something has to give. Don't wait until week 5 again before you start addressing issues in protection and personnel.

The only Hanson brothers that matter...

I don't think he would have pushed Bryce to start out the gate - at least not from a coach's perspective. But he would have caused controversy. Spencer's arm talent has never been questioned. When/if he finally gets the mental aspect, he's gonna be a nightmare for the NFCS.

You'll get no arguments from me in anything you just posted. I'd add that every pick of the 2024 draft was a futures pick. Every single one. Wouldn't be as egregious if there weren't starter level talents staring them in the face through the first 5 rounds.
-
XL will be a really good player. Not the best receiver of the class, but a great playmaker. And... he'll take time to reach his potential. He's a futures pick. Everyone knew it when he was chosen. Why are we surprised now? Bryce Young is better with true receivers. Technicians. Route runners. He's not as backyard football as the FO led us to believe.

I think DC will need to dial up deep shots as the #1 option. Unfortunately that's not a pass Bryce seems to excel at as a #3+. When he does take a shot late, he rushes it and doesn't step into the pass in those cases. Often leading to an overthrow /inaccurate. Seems to be just putting it out there for the receivers to go get instead of dropping it in the basket like he does if its his first read. Panthers may not have that receiver to go get it yet. Hopefully XL as the season progresses. Bryce does have weaknesses. As does every QB in the league.

Yeah... DJ Moore was better after the catch than before. Plus he was a fumbler early on as well. Sometimes players just take time to develop into their final form.

The Athletic FS - Bryce Conversation
Navy_football replied to Bear Hands's topic in Carolina Panthers
Nope. The Jets practice showed that the oline couldn't block - particularly stunts and delayed blitzes. A rookie QB can't learn to be an NFL QB if he isn't protected. At least a little. -

Not really, but the stupid ish you spew is ridiculously flawed and short sided. -

Wait, wasn't that John Keynes? My undergrad was Economics. Definitive statements that won't change shouldn't be made if you want to leave room to change your stance. Bryce won't get taller so saying he's too short to ever be an effective QB is not a statement you'd want to make. Same with arm strength being the worst in the NFL, etc.
