I think Stroud is a special talent. Point blank. No if, ands or buts. In hindsight, should have been the pick. Now that's out of the way. Houston's weapons are playing at a very high level. They are constantly open and constantly have high yards after the catch. A lot of those are very short routes and screens. That isn't because the QB delivered a catchable ball in stride. That's just an explosive player making a play. And maybe those guys weren't highly touted prior to the season and are overachieving. But that is due partly to the QB, partly to the offensive line holding up, and mostly (in my opinion) due to scheme and playcalling.

Carolina Definitely Chose the Wrong QB

I actually agree. Houston is a really good team. Lamar is a wild card though, but he's not the same guy in the playoffs. -

Carolina Definitely Chose the Wrong QB

Where would carolina have been picking if they had left Rhule in place? A new coaching staff makes a huge difference. Should have left Rhule in place if you were gonna trade up to #1. Opposite of smart. -

Slowik is the choice. Tepper can't overthink this ish. He's showing you right now. Of course you're gonna be in a bidding war after tonight, but you do what you have to do. -

They really did. Didn't they do something similar to Cam? The stolen laptop thing... -

Houston shouldn't let Slowik leave. Heck I'd pay him HC money before letting him walk out the door. -

Here we go again. Dalton is a friggin 3 time pro bowler. Not some career journeyman. He's seen way more than a rookie QB. On a bad team, an experienced vet should have more success. Dalton took a beating that game too. He just has more NFL knowledge after 13 seasons, than a rookie. -

This is very telling. You just don't know. Do you think that any NFL DB can outrun any NFL QBs arm? I played DB in college. The only time you cheat is if you don't respect the receiver's ability to separate. You ain't ever outrunning a throw. Ever. You let a receiver break your cushion because the receiver can't beat you. Not the throw. Geez. -

This is where you're mistaken. There are few if any "Bryce Guys" here. I think there are just guys that acknowledge this team wasn't set up for any QB to succeed. Bryce isn't better than CJ, but that doesn't mean he can't be a good QB for the Panthers. -

Right. They hit on the playcaller/play designer. That changes absolutely everything. Everything. I really don't want to get into a Stroud vs Young debate. It's futile. The situations are too different to make definitive statements either way. The Panthers season is over. Time to move on to next season for them and the playoffs for the NFL. But... if you can't see the difference in playcalling, protection, receiver separation and YAC, then you're not trying. Even casual fans can see that. -

Don't care who's playing QB. He needs to be the guy. -

Maybe you're right. Tepper needs to get Slowik. That'll answer all our questions. -

Everything is Bryce vs CJ... Their situations are not remotely the same. Bryce is home watching with the rest of the horrible team. Let's just watch the game without making QB comparisons. For the record, I'm all in for Bobby Slowik. He's schooling these boys. -

CJ has missed a ton of those all season. He's special. No doubt. But still a rookie. He's gonna be crazy in 2 years. Crazy. -

NFL's top plays from Bryce Young in 2023
Navy_football replied to Icege's topic in Carolina Panthers
I don't know... I see a lot of plays by Tee and Chase that carolina receivers just don't make. Just an observation. But his running was fun to watch while it lasted! -
2001 had an average NFL roster. 2010 had a ton of talent on both sides of the ball - on offense alone they had Smitty, Gross, Kalil and double trouble. Heck Wharton would have been the best olineman on the 2023 squad. And CJ would have killed Bryce. 2023 was bad offensively. The only players that would have started on the 2010 squad are Bryce and Moton.

I mean he's better than most late first rounders or early seconds. They'll never get 2 firsts and a second again. Very few non-QBs are actually worth that and the Panthers should have taken it just on merit. Oh well. Burns isn't a bad player. He's a freakish athlete. But he'll never be elite. You don't pay elite money to pretty good players. That's how you get a team into cap hell.

Breaking, Ian Rapoport: Fitterer Fired
Navy_football replied to NJPanthers12's topic in Carolina Panthers
Agree. And shouldn't the GM choose the coach? Isn't that how it normally works? I don't even know anymore. Things have been so backwards in Carolina for so long, I can't even remember how it's supposed to be. -
This is about as actual a conversation as I can have with someone who's obviously in their feelings and just trying to prove a point that isn't true. He passed from under center enough to show he can do it. If the OC decides not to call those plays, then... Look it's been a horrible season. No need to be so obtuse that you make it worse than what it really was. As if one player is the reason this team won 2 games.
