Really don't care about record that much. I was really hoping we'd field a pro offense this season. Been a long time since we've had one.
-
I hope this isn't an indication of what tye offense will look like during the season. This is Rivera-esque.
-
I'm not ready to crown them AFC champs just yet, but they can definitely take the AFC East. Yes, I am confident in saying that division will come down to the wire with them and Buffalo. Jets probably win their last 7 games.

I agree with almost everything here. Zod referenced the 2011 season vs the 2015 season. I think 2011 was 6-10. Just comparing this season to Cam's first season with a new HC and coaching staff for the Panthers vs the 2015 season when the team was closer to being a contender. Expectations should realistically be a lot closer to 6-10 than 15-1.

Maybe. Having a QB that can at least move the chains consistently makes a difference to a defense.
-
He should legit apologize to Corral. That was embarrassing.

Not just first round, but the #1 pick in the draft QB's career is wasted. If you pick a QB #1 in the draft, you have to give him everything he needs to succeed. He is the player that determines your fate. That's why Ron pissed my off so much. Should have just drafted Von Miller if you were gonna ignore WR and OL, and just stack up on RBs, DTs and CBs.

Been waiting for this... BY on QB School
Navy_football replied to TheCasillas's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yep. I can see that. I think I just interpreted it as such. Agree with keeping plays simple for the reason you suggested. It's just that you're not giving fans the real show. Just call it a practice scrimmage and charge for concessions. Don't charge fans to see a watered-down version of an NFL football game. Really was just playing devil's advocate cause I could see it both ways. Just a thought. -

If you're not giving 100% on a football field, then you're already increasing your chances of injury. 100% effort should be a given. The only thing to debate is preparation and playcalling. -

Ehhh... agree, not a team concern, but an NFL concern. If you're going to charge admission, albeit cheaper, then you should deliver what you advertise. Don't call it games and make it a big deal. Just call it a practice scrimmage and charge for concessions. I don't know. Just a thought. -
Stoic Ron was cancelled out by Chud and McDermott. Playcalling was legit that season. This season is an unknown, but with a lot of potential. Offensively... this team can't touch the talent. Cam walked into an offense that was only missing the leader. Defense gave up games that year. Can't expect a rookie QB to win shoot outs every week.

Yep. Coaches should agree on how they're playing the game prior to the start. I know they do that to some degree during practice. Then again. Fans are paying to attend these GAMES. Perhaps preseason SHOULD be treated like games from a preparation stand point. A game with 2nd and 3rd stringers. Hard to prepare that way, but vanilla schemes and play calls are not what fans pay to see. Just a thought. -

Yeah, the Jets Dline is a problem! They're gonna be hard to move the ball against getting consistent pressure without giving up a man in coverage. Remember when the Panthers had that? That unit kept the team in games when the offense had a hard time getting things going. -

Agree. These are learning opportunities. They were fooled and outschemed. That can be corrected. Unlike in the past when 3 of 5 offensive linemen were bull rushed into the QBs lap 1.5s after the snap! And to add. Those stunts were on point! They are well coached with timing and depth. -
Not in season one. That's not realistic or fair. By year two, we should start to see some major improvements show up in the wins/losses column. This year is an introduction to a new way of doing things. I'd expect to see a slow start out the gate, that picks up towards the end of the season. Probably go on a good winning streak at the end and just miss the playoffs.

This is classic DJ. He has always been this type of player. He's a Deebo-type, just get the ball in his hands football player. Shenault is similar. This team needs a few more route runners that can combo guys up, get open quickly for your QB, and have a big catch radius. That's what DJ is not good at. This... he can do all day.

Ok. Bryce ain't scared! But for real, chill with Smitty. That dude will flip in a heartbeat.

Tale of two halves. The way that game was going, everyone knew it would come down to the last team with the ball. As soon as it went out of bounds, I knew it was over. Was Kasay a great kicker? Best this team ever had. Was he the only reason they lost that game. Heck no! Was that kick a huge contributing factor? Yes. You better F'n believe it was...

Why Panthers Ikem Ekwonu will be The BEST Tackle in the NFL

Offensive support cast ranked 31st in the league
Navy_football replied to panthers55's topic in Carolina Panthers
This cast is not built for coaches and play callers that can't scheme - like Rivera. Hopefully this staff can figure out how to exploit mismatches and scheme guys open. And don't forget about Laviska. Homerun threat any time the ball is in his hands. -
I think the WR room is just fine. All the boxes are checked - just not all in one guy. It'll be up to the coaches to figure out their strengths and the best way to use them. Bigger concern is the TE room. If Hurst brings a consistent pass catcher there, then Bryce, Thomas and Reich will have everything they need to be successful.

I'm a huge Kuechly fan. Huge! He wasn't LT, Prime, Sugar Ray, Reggie White, Aaron Donald or Ed Reed level. He was a BEAST. But most of those guys changed the game in one way or another. Not a game but THE GAME.

Where do you "rank" Burns as Panthers all-time DEs?
Navy_football replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
Nah Ricky, I can't get with that. Greg Hardy was a different dude. I liked his game more than Peppers. Not saying he was better than Pep, but Hardy scared the ish out of QBs. Stats don't tell the story of how crazy he was on the field. How many times he pressured Brees and Ryan into doing dumb ish - two of the most poised QBs in the NFL. How many times he crushed QBs. He had a relentless motor. Non stop. That same crazy hurt him off the field, but that mofo is my #2. He ain't Peppers, but prime Hardy is a true difference maker. -
Steve Smith interview with Bryce Young
Navy_football replied to backINblack28's topic in Carolina Panthers
Cam just wasn't afraid of the hits. He played like he was indestructible, and for awhile he was. But it eventually caught up to him. However it is not an indication of his intelligence or lack thereof.
