  1. I just don't see Purdy being able to keep up with Hurts and the Eagles. He limits the offense now. There's enough tape on him now to scheme him have to play to his weaknesses.
  2. Purdy was very limited in the throws he could make yesterday. If you can take away the middle of the field, he's relegated to screens only. I don't think I saw one deep out route or hitch/comeback completed outside the numbers.
  3. I agree with that. But running QBs present challenges that defenses can't always prepare for. The 49ers linebackers do have wheels though. If any defense can keep up with Hurts, they can.
  4. Shanahan said Garoppolo could be back for the NFC Championship. If he's back, they have a chance. Purdy has taken them as far as he can.
  5. Well, the team was a wrist injury away from making the playoffs this year - and it wasn't a QB. There's more to a team than a passer.
  6. Reaching for need is rarely the right move. This would be more than a simple reach. It'd be a move of desperation. Drafting the wrong QB in the top 10 sets you back at least 3 seasons.
  7. So we all acknowledge Rhule held back the offense - particularly with his personnel decisions, but also game-planning and direction. And in the same breathe tear down a rookie QB that got minimal opportunity to learn the offense, because he performed poorly in preseason games. Corral has the tools and attitude. He needs the right opportunity and coaching to be successful.
  8. I said with a good team and HC. Not Rhule and whatever we marched out there calling it an o-line. Maybe add a WR or TE and a coach with a clue of offense and that will be a better approach than reaching for a QB that'll need 2 or 3 seasons before looking like a pro. SF has Mr. Friggin Irrelevant out there winning division games because they've focused on improving the team. That and a HC that has a clue of offense.
  9. Whoever wins the position battle in training camp. Again, improve the TEAM and the coaching staff. They can control those things. The QB position will work itself out.
  10. Reaching for a QB in the draft is the absolute worst thing this team could do. If our guy isn't available with #9, then get the DE, LB, WR or TE that will start for the next 5+ seasons. That's a win in my book. Take a chance with a 2nd or 3rd if you want, but be sure with the 1st and the HC. Everything else will work out.
  11. Delhomme was the opposite of a game manager. Dude kept games close that should have been blow out wins for carolina. But he was cold as ice at the end of games. Bad decisions all day long but in that last 2 minutes... it's on!
  12. Wilks is a good guy and a good coach. He would work for the right team. Just think it’s time to try something new in Carolina. Defensive coaches are more conservative. They just are. Defensive coaches sacrifice QB development pieces in order to build a stronger defense. Defensive coaches take their foot off the gas with a 10 point lead half way through the 4th quarter. They don't trust the offense at the end of games. They'd rather have their defense "hold on" to the lead. And there isn't anything wrong with any of that. It's the safe way. I'm just ready for something different.
  13. Particularly the coach. Tired of coaches that either don't care or don't know how to develop QBs. If Andy Reid would have gotten a hold of Cam in the 2011 draft... the league would have had to make new rules to slow them down.
  14. I'd argue there is at least one QB in the last 10 drafts that was picked 10th or later that you'd consider over the first QB drafted - with the luxury of hindsight.
  15. I wish I could do that. Not that I would ever actually do it. I just wish I could.
  16. So the worst human being in the world...?
  17. You're right. It's only my opinion. But honestly wouldn't even want him as a starter at DE on my team. I'd make him a situational player. Think he'd thrive in that role.
  18. Smith was arguably the best WR in the NFL for about 5 or 6 years. Unfortunately no one knew of him until he went to the Ravens. I remember discussions in 2006 or 2007 about that dude. Real football fans had no idea who he was, even then. He was buried on an unknown expansion team. That and beating up teammates are the reasons he's not in the HOF. His ability is undeniable.
  19. Burns is not a top 10 DL. Heck Washington has 3 or 4 I'd put above him. Even with his sack advantage. There's more to playing the position. He can't set the edge. He opens run lanes and gets out of position even when pass rushing. And he misses tackles at the WORST possible times.
  20. The Panthers don't have a player worth two 1st rounders and a 2nd. The Rams gave them an offer they couldn't refuse - and they did. Burns has too many limitations and can be made a liability if properly game planned against. I'd much rather have a Charles Johnson and Greg Hardy DE lineup than Burns and some JAG. Just solid and consistent play from both sides. Against the run and the pass.
