  1. Not in season one. That's not realistic or fair. By year two, we should start to see some major improvements show up in the wins/losses column. This year is an introduction to a new way of doing things. I'd expect to see a slow start out the gate, that picks up towards the end of the season. Probably go on a good winning streak at the end and just miss the playoffs.
  2. This is classic DJ. He has always been this type of player. He's a Deebo-type, just get the ball in his hands football player. Shenault is similar. This team needs a few more route runners that can combo guys up, get open quickly for your QB, and have a big catch radius. That's what DJ is not good at. This... he can do all day.
  3. Ok. Bryce ain't scared! But for real, chill with Smitty. That dude will flip in a heartbeat.
  4. Tale of two halves. The way that game was going, everyone knew it would come down to the last team with the ball. As soon as it went out of bounds, I knew it was over. Was Kasay a great kicker? Best this team ever had. Was he the only reason they lost that game. Heck no! Was that kick a huge contributing factor? Yes. You better F'n believe it was...
  5. This cast is not built for coaches and play callers that can't scheme - like Rivera. Hopefully this staff can figure out how to exploit mismatches and scheme guys open. And don't forget about Laviska. Homerun threat any time the ball is in his hands.
  6. I think the WR room is just fine. All the boxes are checked - just not all in one guy. It'll be up to the coaches to figure out their strengths and the best way to use them. Bigger concern is the TE room. If Hurst brings a consistent pass catcher there, then Bryce, Thomas and Reich will have everything they need to be successful.
  7. I'm a huge Kuechly fan. Huge! He wasn't LT, Prime, Sugar Ray, Reggie White, Aaron Donald or Ed Reed level. He was a BEAST. But most of those guys changed the game in one way or another. Not a game but THE GAME.
  8. Nah Ricky, I can't get with that. Greg Hardy was a different dude. I liked his game more than Peppers. Not saying he was better than Pep, but Hardy scared the ish out of QBs. Stats don't tell the story of how crazy he was on the field. How many times he pressured Brees and Ryan into doing dumb ish - two of the most poised QBs in the NFL. How many times he crushed QBs. He had a relentless motor. Non stop. That same crazy hurt him off the field, but that mofo is my #2. He ain't Peppers, but prime Hardy is a true difference maker.
  9. Cam just wasn't afraid of the hits. He played like he was indestructible, and for awhile he was. But it eventually caught up to him. However it is not an indication of his intelligence or lack thereof.
  10. Or Cam with a half way competent HC. Like the common sense to actually make an attempt to build around your franchise QB.
  11. Young and Zay would be the smallest QB/WR combo in NFL history to lead the league in TDs.
  12. I'm ready for the next level of middle/inside linebacker player this team has had since, well, always.
  13. Keep watching. His deficiencies were alarming to me.
  14. If Drew Brees or Tom Brady or Dan got dam Fouts had Cam's situation here most of his career, they wouldn't have lasted either. The situation they're drafted into plays a big role in how successful a player will be. And that's any position. The good thing is who ever they draft, this staff has enough common sense to protect him and provide him weapons - early enough that he'll be developed to his full potential. Developing their #1 overall QB will be a priority, not an after thought. Not an "oh by the way" we don't have a starting caliber Tackle on the team. Or "oh by the way" we don't have any wide outs that could start on any other team in the NFL.
  15. With linemen or receivers that could get open. Both areas were after thoughts until the defense was taken care of. My mans was in the league like 7 years and starting to rack up injuries before they began even really trying. I'll NEVER forgive Ron and Marty for that. They were playing on easy mode and tried to skip the basics.
  16. Hopkins has been around long enough to realize what's happening in Charlotte. He sees the high level coaching. He sees the commitment to winning - and not just the balance sheet. He sees the commitment to improving the offense by going all the way to the #1 pick to bring in a QB. And he's from SC. Sure he wants to win a Super Bowl, but more importantly he wants to play meaningful games in December. And doing it in front of your family every home game is HUGE!
  17. I seriously doubt Fitt gives up the #39 pick in the draft for a 30 years old WR. I would lose a lot of confidence in him if he did. And I really want Hopkins!
  18. Not attacking your post. It's valid. But if any team's fans should know size doesn't make a receiver, then it should be the us. I'd take Smitty/Ginn/Philly Brown over Funchess/KB/Jarrett any day.
  19. Oh snap! When do the Panthers play the Bears?! It's gonna be blood and guts!
  20. Defensive players in general have always been the hallmark of this team. That and running backs. Hopefully that changes with an offensive HC.
  21. Let me clarify. I wouldn't want another DJ Moore. I would want more of a press breaker, route runner, great hands guy. In my opinion, DJ wasn't great in this role, but good. And separately, a guy that can run jet sweeps, screens, reverses, or even line up as a RB (though the Panthers may already have that in Shenault). I think you replace DJ with multiple guys, with different skill sets.
  22. Yeah, I was with him until the Burns trade scenario. Not sure I'm onboard with all that. But if Fitts could pull Hopkins and Thielen... and throw in a receiving TE. A young QB would be in pretty good shape for the next 2 years.
