I'm All In On Drafting a QB in Round 1
Navy_football replied to Daddy_Uncle's topic in Carolina Panthers
I don't agree. I love TMac and think he's gonna be a big time WR for this team. Right now he gets fed a ton of targets that helps his stats. He's getting the Adam Thielen treatment. I just don't think he maximizes YAC opportunities, or runs by DBs, or makes the circus catches in games we know he can make. I think he'll put it together, but he ain't there yet. Shakir in Buffalo showed something Sunday we haven't seen a WR do here in a long time. Who's doing that on this team? -
Who was Cam's backup? Derek Andersen. Pat Mahomes? Chad Henne. Josh Allen? Derek Andersen, (yes the same) and Matt Barkley. Burrows? Brandon Allen. They didn't bring in competition either. That's not how this works. Honestly, Dalton is better than all of those guys.
-
Kinda weird that Dalton craps the bed yesterday and it's somehow Bryce's fault? Yall gotta take a step back sometimes and listen to yourselves. If anything, yesterday showed that our oline and WRs aren't nearly as good as you thought they were.

I'm All In On Drafting a QB in Round 1

We don't have great young talent at WR and TE. We have young potential at WR and TE. They are NOT great - yet. -
The Huddle is so emotional. Watch other games. Enjoy the sport and get some perspective. Many of you have very unrealistic expectations for a team this young. And the vet presence is dwindling down every game with injuries. Hunt, Lewis, Corbett, Mays, Christensen, Moton, Bryce, XL and Coker all missing time and/or games. Pat Jones, Wannum, Wallace and Wharton on defense. If everything went our way, this was an 8 or 9 win team at best. Everything has not gone our way.
-
Hard to blame Canales for games like this. This team is really young. Particularly at the skill positions. When the vets (oline and dline) don't show up, this is what happens. Gonna take lumps until guys get more games under their belts. With that being said, starting Chuba is not the right move. Though Chuba didn't play bad today, Dowdle has earned more carries. In FA, they need to bring in faster players on offense. I swear we don't have any friggin speed on the field at WR. Slow at the snap. Slow out of breaks. Only pressing the safeties if the oline can hold up for 5+ seconds. That is the biggest issue with this offense. Defense needs playmakers at standup LB and they'll be a more consistent unit.

A week of practice with the ones will make a big difference with Andy. And he does stretch the field alot more than Bryce - not sure why that dude hates taking shots deep. We'll lose a lot of mobility at the position, but Dalton is decisive and aggressive. He plays to win, while Bryce seems to play not to lose. Hopefully he snaps out of it after watching Dalton for another couple of weeks.

Honestly think Panthers have a real chance in this game. Remember, Dalton is good for a game or two. Anything more than that and we're in trouble. If Carolina's run defense continues to dominate, I don't think Josh will light us up. Honestly think they'll hold Cook under 75 rushing and Keon under 50 receiving. Do that and we're good. Now Kincaid will likely have a good game. But choose your battles.

Yeah but I don't think it lasts too long. In that scenario, Dowdle is CMC and Chuba is Foreman. We really don't know if Etienne or Brooks will be able to replace him Dowdle next season.
-
CMC and Foreman would have been the perfect 1-2 punch. But they couldn't figure out how to use him until they were forced to. Imagine them behind this oline and blocking scheme. Geez!
-
Yeah, if we would have just ran it back. But, traded away CMC in the middle of the 2022 season. Didn't bring back Foreman. Gave up DJ Moore to move up in the draft. Changed the entire coaching office - for the worst. And then proceeded to injure every interior offensive lineman on the team, to the point that they were pulling guys off the street on Monday to play the following Sunday. I don't know. That was kind of alot.
-
Is their pass defense good because their rush defense is so bad though? People thought we had a good defense in 2023 because our pass defense was so good. Turns out teams just didn't pass on us because it was easier to just run all over us.
-
Nothing wrong with the defense having to win a game. The offense had to do it last week. Defense got toasted all game. Well, at least Mike Jack did. The Jets' defense is better than the stats show, particularly their front 7. This was a good win.
-
This is Carolina. Play great defense and run the ball. That's what we've always been. It's fine for now, but would love to see the team become more of an offensive passing team. But for now, a win is a win. And this is a win, the Panthers' way.

Bryce's Achilles Heel Is Not What You Think It Is

Lawrence is showing why he's not better than Bryce. Neither is Tua or Murray. But you can have your opinions. -
Greg Cosell: Bryce Young is a complimentary piece
Navy_football replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Didnt watch the video, but I agree Bryce is 100% a complimentary piece right now. No argument there. But to be fair, there are only a handful of QBs that aren't. Lamar. Pat. Josh. Maybe Stafford. Herbert. Maybe Dak? Though not sure how good he would have looked last week without Pickens. A franchise QB can be a complimentary piece.
