  1. I thought Legette would be higher too. He's normally pretty good blocking for the run.
  2. Oh yeah. Tremayne jumps out at you as a run blocker when he's on the field. I've seen him pin DEs.
  3. Tmac routinely beats his guy deep? Not really. He's been given the most opportunities deep I think. And he isn't making the play because there's a DB draped all over him. I think he's going to be a fantastic WR for Carolina, but he is not a deep threat. At least not the type that runs past the defense. He's more of a jump over the defense.
  4. At least Green bay is before November. Still gonna be cold, but November will be "Got damm it's cold out there" cold.
  5. OP, Rico is playing well. He's what Brooks is supposed to be - may still be - some day. He has been making the most of plays where he isn't touched until the secondary. Chuba isn't that type of back. Now if we get into a dawg fight where every yard is a struggle, then Chuba probably the better choice. Bryce played really well yesterday. He missed a couple of throws all game. I think folk are looking for him to throw more fly routes. And I think he could throw a little more, but we don't have the WRs for that. Jimmy Horn has the speed and quickness to take a few shots a game. Every other WR's deep ball proficiency is limited to jump balls and defensive mishaps. Can't ask a QB to throw more deep passes if that's not the strength of his receivers.
  6. I don't know. It looked more like Dak evading pressure in big moments to me. Guys were there. They just couldn't quite get to him. Love the mix of players and where they're lining up across the d-line. That double A gap blitz with Roze and Wallace is a thing of beauty. Gotta give Evero some props on that. Adjusting to the WR that's killing you is another story though. It may be as simple as Horn shadowing, but that could open gaps in other areas. Not sure, but can't keep doing the same thing that's not working. Jackson was reeling. You could see it. He lost confidence. He was outmatched and he knew it. It happens to a lot of DBs. The adjustment probably should have been a safety over top. But again, that opens up gaps in other areas.
  7. Blake Horvath from Navy should be in the Heisman running!
  8. Reminds me of Devito last season. Playing reckless at the QB position will get you hurt.
  9. Missing piece last season. I mean this dude is friggin ridiculous. Can one player make that much of a difference in the entire defense? Yes. Yes he can.
  10. I keep hearing that Bryce "gifted" the Dolphins 14 points, and the game would have been closer to the ATL game if not for his turnovers. I don't agree. Didnt they drive down to inside the 10 on their first drive, and came away with a FG? Now the fumble was a complete doophus moment but it didn't gift them points. They still had to drive 50+ yards to score. Defense gave up a 3rd and 8, a 3rd and 7, a 4th and 5, and a 3rd and goal from the 10. That's on the D. Horrible fumble by the QB but it didn't put them in scoring position. Same with the interception, which I don't mind as much. At least he was throwing downfield. It happens. But that put them on the 50 yard line. That's not scoring position. Evero adjusted with stunts and more exotic blitzes after those TDs. Honestly think they score 13+ points with or without the turnovers.
  11. Not sure about the intermediate stuff. But I think Horn is more of what he's used to on deep routes. Small and quick/fast. Bryce really had to learn to put arc on those deep passes for the big plodders/long striders he's had with the Panthers. A guy like Horn has the shiftiness to adjust to deep passes with less arc. Hopefully they at least TRY to test that theory. Renfrow is not a deep threat. He has never in his career been a legitimate deep threat.
  12. I think Chuba is better in pass pro. I think Chuba does a better job setting up blockers, while Dowdle tends to just want to juke or outrun defenders. He has more big play potential, but probably won't get you the consistent numbers. He'll get you in more 3rd and long situations. Now I'm actually excited to see Etienne get more burn. That kid has big play ability written all over him. And he is NOT a punt returner.
  13. Got you. Don't want to hash out disagreements about the QB either. This is really about the WRs role in pressuring safeties. Speed will open up the field of play. We're constantly faced with all 11 defenders within 15 yards of the LOS. That's not a sustainable way to play offense. I think Carolina gets as much Cover 1 with a Robber defensive looks as they get Cover 2. That has to change.
  14. Legette isn't shifty enough. Just get a hand or body on him and he's all of a sudden a 4.7 guy. Which is fine honeslty. I'd rather see him play like he's 220 pounds than like he's a burner anyway. Gotta be able to out muscle 180 pounds CBs. Just have to.
  15. I wouldn't want to see him on the outside either. He can press safeties from the slot and allow TMac and company to work underneath. Safeties have to back up if a guy is streaking by them - even if Bryce refuses to look their way.
  16. Agree. Agree. Agree. Horn should get snaps based on being the only WR that can actually stretch the field and pressure safeties with speed.
  17. What about Jimmy Horn? Shouldn't he be in the mix?
  18. Honestly... If BY requests a trade or a big extension after what he's shown so far, then so be it. This hasn't been a great situation for him but he doesn't have a resume that'll hold any leverage. Ideally he'd take what he can get and then try to prove himself. A lot of QBs have had success betting on themselves in contract years.
  19. He was pretty good the backend of last season. The first year and a half was really bad though. Really bad. No arc. Just linedrives 40 yards down field, leaving no room for error. It's perfect or an incompletion.
  20. So true. He makes you prepare for something totally different at the position. I'd love him for that alone. DCs hate prep when there's a threat of that dude taking the field.
  21. He's hit Coker, Legette, TMac and Thielen with beautiful passes downfield. He can. He just doesn't. Which again, is even worse than not being able to. Too many short passes leaves opportunities for something to go wrong. And it often does.
  22. No argument there. If it isn't his presnap read, then he ain't likely even trying it. But when decides to throw deep based on coverage, he's shown he can throw with accuracy.
  23. XL is a plodder. He doesn't have quickness to go with the straight line speed. A CB could run a 4.6 and easily cover him deep just by getting a hand/body on him. He doesn't play big either. TMac is not a burner, neither was Funchess. But if you throw a Ginn on the field with Funchess, then you might have something. Bryce can throw a deep ball. He just doesn't. Which is probably worse.
