  1. Maybe you're right. Tepper needs to get Slowik. That'll answer all our questions.
  2. Everything is Bryce vs CJ... Their situations are not remotely the same. Bryce is home watching with the rest of the horrible team. Let's just watch the game without making QB comparisons. For the record, I'm all in for Bobby Slowik. He's schooling these boys.
  3. Bobby Slowik is that dude. I don't care what it takes. Get him here.
  4. CJ has missed a ton of those all season. He's special. No doubt. But still a rookie. He's gonna be crazy in 2 years. Crazy.
  5. That's crazy. We ain't watching the same game. I want Bobby Slowik! That boy is putting on a clinic!
  6. I don't know... I see a lot of plays by Tee and Chase that carolina receivers just don't make. Just an observation. But his running was fun to watch while it lasted!
  7. 2001 had an average NFL roster. 2010 had a ton of talent on both sides of the ball - on offense alone they had Smitty, Gross, Kalil and double trouble. Heck Wharton would have been the best olineman on the 2023 squad. And CJ would have killed Bryce. 2023 was bad offensively. The only players that would have started on the 2010 squad are Bryce and Moton.
  8. I mean he's better than most late first rounders or early seconds. They'll never get 2 firsts and a second again. Very few non-QBs are actually worth that and the Panthers should have taken it just on merit. Oh well. Burns isn't a bad player. He's a freakish athlete. But he'll never be elite. You don't pay elite money to pretty good players. That's how you get a team into cap hell.
  9. Agree. And shouldn't the GM choose the coach? Isn't that how it normally works? I don't even know anymore. Things have been so backwards in Carolina for so long, I can't even remember how it's supposed to be.
  10. So now it can't be a screen or roll out? You acknowledged that no team passes exclusively from under center. Probably 5% of passes at most. Why does it even matter?
  11. This is about as actual a conversation as I can have with someone who's obviously in their feelings and just trying to prove a point that isn't true. He passed from under center enough to show he can do it. If the OC decides not to call those plays, then... Look it's been a horrible season. No need to be so obtuse that you make it worse than what it really was. As if one player is the reason this team won 2 games.
  12. Gotcha. Which team passed the ball exclusively from under center in 2023?
  13. If you don't think a guy can run by you, you let them eat your cushion because you can always catch them. DBs were down right disrespectful to our receivers this year. If you respect a guys speed, you give him 10 yards and turn to run when he's 2-3 yards away.
  14. Are you saying Bryce can't play under center? I disagree. He showed that he could.
  15. Pootie, they got a whole new coaching staff. An OC from the baby-Shanahan tree. Chark's game in Green Bay was the norm for them plus they were YAC machines. That's not just a QB. That's an offensive scheme. If nothing else, we know Bryce can throw a wr screen. Our WRs just can't do anything with them. Houston's big 3 could all take it the distance anytime. You have to respect all 3. Carolinas receivers are all basically possession receiver athletes, that run bad routes, and can't catch consistently.
  16. I don't necessarily believe in Bryce. But I do like his ability to escape the pocket once he decides to go, and his ability to make guys miss in the open field. He prefers to pass with anticipation, but he wasn't on the same page as his receivers most of the season, so that doesn't work. The one game (really 2-3 quarters) when he got NFL average protection and receiver play (meaning they caught the catchable passes - still no YAC), he looked fairly good. Amazing how is arm strength suddenly wasn't an issue when 300 pounds men wasn't in his lap all game. Go get Ben Johnson. Increase Marsette's role in the passing game, draft a 3rd round WR with speed and route running ability, and go get a #1 receiver in FA. Find a few serviceable average starter level interior linemen in the draft and FA, and give Bryce a chance to sink or swim. He'll decide his own fate.
  17. Maybe. But his suck wouldn't be nearly as bad as his suck in Carolina. Houston receivers will drop balls on occasion too, but they'll turn a 5 yards slant into a 75 yards TD the next play. No one does that in Carolina.
  18. I think the Panthers did too. Honestly, the wheels fell off when the entire oline became turnstiles. Hard to reach too deep into the playbook when the QB is running for his life most of the game.
  19. Ok. But if your first read isn't open, then you go through your progressions. If you're constantly getting to your 3rd or 4th option before a guy is open, then playcalling is failing you. Assuming you don't have a #1 that can get open at a high win rate.
  20. I think they all have made big plays that can't be attributed to the QB. Don't forget the TE Schultz. He's making plays too. And their OC is from SF. He's a big contributing factor to their offensive turnaround. As is CJ Stroud. He's playing very well for a rookie.
  21. Bro. I'm concerned some of these posters have never played football. Sure a QB can hold the ball too long at times, but QBs are mostly sacked from a lineman getting beat and/or coverage. Sacks and QB hurries are attributed to offensive linemen and TEs. Though WRs and playcalling can be just as responsible as a QB holding the ball too long.
  22. Only because the plays scheme him open and the line gives his QB time to find him. And that's assuming he doesn't drop the first two balls a game that hit him in the face/hands.
  23. I promise you that DBs don't sit on receivers because they don't think a QB can beat them deep. It's about not respecting the receiver's ability to get open on them. No DB can outrun a pass.
  24. Seems ridiculous to me that anyone thinks a QB is supposed to make guys block effectively, get open, catch the ball, then run with it afterwards. Maybe I'm different. I just look at QBs as players. Important players. But just players. An elite team can win with average QB play. A bad team will lose with an elite QB.
