Or how could you go wrong with a WR from LSU?
-
Bro, I think all but maybe 1 "Bryce stan" feels the same way. Objectivity is usually the best approach. Usually.
-
Yeah, you're just making that up. It's ok. I understand your pain. And I'm sure a DT didn't intercept an out route. If so, what the heck is a DT doing in the flats?! That's a diabolical defensive playcall!
-
Okay. So how does it help you as a fan to point out every single deficiency of one player - with almost no context? I didn't say Bryce did anything to show he was a franchise QB. I actually have never posted that. And there are probably a lot less of those across the board than your memory is creating. I call the good plays when they're good. I call the bad plays when they're bad. I point out good protection and tough catches when they happen. I point out crappy protection and drops when they happen. I point out bad play designs when they happen. I point out great play calls when they happen. I point out a lack of deep passes attempted by the QB. I point out the receiver's culpability when bad things happen too. I guess I consider my approach to the team and QB an objectively optimistic one. Optimistic because that's my personality type. Objective because well I guess personality type too. It's just a lot more fun to cheer for the Panthers to me, than to cheer against them. That's all. Maybe you're the opposite. And that's ok. Just don't agree that you should try to convince me that your approach is better than mine. I just remember playing football and never thinking this team sucks only because of the QB or vice versa. To me, a QB's success is only as good as his supporting cast. I mean Tom Brady had his best season ever with Randy Moss. If it didn't matter, then it wouldn't have been his best season.

Do you factor in the dropped passes? some for TDs? some that would have put them in the RZ? Do you factor the lack of protection resulting in sacks? Do you factor in the drive killing penalties from the oline? Not to mention the changes at playcallers and coaching? Not defending just saying there were A LOT of extenuating circumstances. I think the entire offense gets a mulligan. Bryce, Ickey, Mingo, etc. Should have a much better understanding of what's going on by week 4.

I'd hate it if Damien Lewis and Diontae Johnson are out this week. That's half of the major offseason acquisitions on offense. Hunt and XL are the others I guess. Hopefully someone steps up to the challenge. Maybe a rookie TE? Maybe a 2nd year QB? Maybe a RB with a chip? Let's go!

Man I don't know. I do know that the back and forth bickering and general negativity about EVERYTHING is getting old. Not sure why we can't all just cheer for the team. If you don't want to cheer FOR the team, then just get another team so you can cheer AGAINST them. I guess that's how I look at it. But I'm getting too old to judge folk. Committed too many unsavory acts in my time to do that.

I could be wrong frank, but it really kinda comes off that you just want to be vindicated in your early assessments. I didn't want to draft a QB last year at all, if they had to move up to do it. But, I can also objectively observe a situation. At the end of the day, we're all Panthers fans. We have been for a long time. Teams go through slumps. Players have bad games. Players have good games. FOs do dumb stuff all the time. Enjoy the ride. You only get one 2024 football season for your favorite team. Don't approach it looking for the negative. Cause you'll ALWAYS find it. ALWAYS.

okie dokie. agree that Bryce should take more deep shots though. I think he's been trying that more in practice too. I think Canales is good for him and the rest of the team. Seems to be a different approach thus far.
-
Wait... No bueno, again?
-
Agree that everyone could benefit from preseason games. I think that's an opportunity to apply what you've learned in practice before it acually counting against you. Not necessarily where you try new things. Just my opinion though.
-
Right? And when/where is he supposed to correct it? Practice. Right?
-
Yeah. I agree with this sentiment. Practice is not where you play conservatively. It's where you test yourself and your team mates. Can I fit that pass in? Who's gonna make a play for me when I'm in trouble? For WRs and RBs - try a new move, try a one handed catch. That's what practice is for - and you get better and build confidence. Now, if you start doing it in games and it ain't working...
-
He probably passed out in the endzone. I love that stuff! That's the fun parts of practice!
-
Love it! Bryce testing his limits - in practice rather than games. Defense making his butt pay for mistakes, and actually catching INTs. This is how a real practice should go. Everyone is getting better.

I wonder how far he ran!? I bet he was GASSED!

Chris "the Hitman" Harris was a menace in Chicago too. That dude was feared by many. Knock your head right off.
-
This is the Canales effect. Hopefully there is a positive impact. But seems the team is buying in to him.

I need to see the big man juking! DTs be doing the most when they get turnovers!!

muy bueno!

Panthers Practice August 12: Compliment Sandwich Edition
Navy_football replied to Ricky Spanish's topic in Carolina Panthers
Oh definitely. He led more with his play than anything else early on though. Plus Cam is an anomaly. No QB ever played the position like him. That dude just loved playing football. He would be smiling while stiff arming a friggin linebacker while dragging a free safety down the field. Then superman pose after running over a defensive lineman for a TD. No QB is comparable to Cam's fun loving competitive nature. They broke the mold with him.
