  1. Neither of those guys are reaches though. Proven and relatively young. And... no long history of injuries. Truly a black cat moment if they fail.
  2. I don't think people see the hypocrisy in those takes. That's like saying, I want him to lead the team to success and be the best QB in the NFL, but until he does I'm gonna let everybody that will listen know that he can't do it. Making definitive statements like - he's too short, too little, too slow, too weak, not smart enough to even play in the NFL. He doesn't have any tools, zero, nothing to be successful in the NFL. But if he ever figures it out, he's my guy! Make it make sense. Reality is if he shows any improvement, they'll give the credit somewhere else. When it'll really just be he finally gets NFL average in areas like coaching, scheme, playcalling, pass protection, and receiver play. But he's supposed to overcome below average in all those areas as a rookie? And if you just acknowledge that lack of supporting cast prevents us from making a final decision on him yet, then you're a stan or a Bryce defender. No, I just have objective common sense, sir.
  3. Yeah, it appears that he's working on getting the ball downfield more. Last season, he constantly overthrew those passes - not enough air under it. Now, it seems like he's putting too much. But he has been connecting on a few too - in practice. He'll find that sweet spot as long as he keeps pushing it. I think that's the key point. Don't stop throwing it. Even if you miss, you've planted a seed.
  4. Yeah. You don't trade all of your best offensive players so you can hire an offensive coach to become an offensive team. Kind of defeats the purpose.
  5. I'm always hyped to watch Panthers games. I don't know what they'll be this season, but it doesn't dictate whether or not I'll watch the games. I will. And I've always watched every game on Sundays and Mondays, now Thursdays too. So, my enjoyment of the NFL isn't restricted to the success of Carolina. Just gives me bragging rights. That's all.
  6. I remember Cam looking absolutely lost his first preseason. Then the first two games happened... Playing starters a few snaps just to catch up to game speed is ok. Win or lose. It really doesn't matter. Not playing them is ok too. But I do agree it needs to be a majority of the starters or none at all. The only way it helps at this point is timing and game speed adjustment.
  7. Just have to hope he can adapt. He has enough arm to throw it early, just not late. Completing deep passes at a high tick would be great, but you have to at least take the shots. 2 or 3 a game of 50 yards+ would change how DBs play the pass. Honestly, every time they start creeping up, I'd just take a shot over everyone's heads to back them up. I agree with not making the offense too predictable. I was thinking more of encouraging him to break out of the pocket when things get hairy vs calling too many roll outs. I'm thinking a heavy play action offense instead. But the running game has to have some success for it to work.
  8. I honestly think the starters will get a few snaps against the Bills. Understand not risking the QB1 without the starting OL and WRs on deck.
  9. He appears to be better when it's his first option - as most QBs are. He's just really bad when it isn't, and rarely even takes it if it's late in the progression. That could be a lack of confidence in his receivers too. DC should really dial up plays for him and take more of the decision out of his hands. Yeah, trying to turn him into a pocket QB would be a horrible approach, and I don't think DC even wants that. I think he mentioned that in an article last week.
  10. I think we've seen a more aggressive Bryce Young this year, that is more willing to take shots downfield. He didn't take enough shots last year to have success in my opinion. Hopefully he learns to fit this offense by taking more opportunities. Once every 2 or 3 games ain't gonna get it done.
  11. That's all this was for Dillon. They're cutting him early to give him a chance to make another team. He ain't gonna make this squad, so they did him a solid. It's a numbers game. If he doesn't get picked up, then he'll be on the PS or quick dial if there's a RB injury.
  12. Yall are so goofy sometimes with your tin hat theories, stemming from a wholehearted disdain for the current QB1. So they changed the offense 3 times before they saw Bryce play in it, because Bryce couldn't play in it? Let that sink in for a sec. Just relax and give the guy a chance. A real chance. Not last season's chance. That was crap from the beginning. Well, appears to have been crap since before the beginning. Reality is probably closer to disagreements in scheme and play design. Also, there may have been an idea of whether or not they were designing an offense for a rookie vs a 13 year vet. There is a difference, as alluded to in the article. Perhaps they were creating an offense for Dalton, but Tepper forced them to play Bryce even though he wasn't ready for that playbook. I can see that. But I'll say this. Yall are consistent. I always know what to expect. Bryce can't throw downfield, deep outs, over the middle, and he's too slow and easy to tackle. How in the heck did this guy win a Heisman as an underclassman, or become the top QB recruit in his class, and the #1 pick in the draft? He's been scheming the system since middle school. Had them all fooled except you. Gotcha.
  13. Right. I said he but I meant they. A couple of plays won't make a difference. A full half probably could. Ideally 2nd and 3rd quarters after adjustments too.
  14. Yeah but 1 or 2 series probably won't make a difference, other than confidence (good or bad). Now if he was playing for a full half, now we're talking.
  15. This guy is for practice only. He'll be dropped or replaced as soon as another better option comes along.
  16. Well... injuries are aren't always an accumulation of things. They're often freak accidents almost. I guess the idea is to limit the opportunities for those freak accidents.
  17. I could sworn he did that once last season in a short yards situation. The defense was like "where the Hell is he"
  18. I hear you. He doesn't have a big arm. But it's good enough in my opinion. If he can complete throws against Jaycee and Sauce, then his arm talent is good enough to complete passes on anyone. But agree, he doesn't have the type of arm to turn to the 3rd read and launch it 50-60 yards in the NFL. To be fair, a deep threat/jump ball receiver is usually needed for those too.
  19. Yeah I don't think that's true. There probably isn't a poster on this forum that hasn't had a negative comment about Bryce, Mingo, TMJ, Ian, Chuba and Ickey (and every OG from last season). As far as Bryce goes, I think there are a couple of categories. Stans: really not stans as much as undecided due to only playing 1 year in league on a really bad team/supporting cast. They're actually a shaky group. A lot of on the fence. I'm included here. Ops: 1. He doesn't have the physical tools to ever be successful. 2. He's supposed to raise the level of everyone else on offense, so no excuses. 3. Just don’t like him (hair, laugh, stutter, not a leader, etc.)
  20. I think Mingo had a juke during the game against Houston but I can't remember another player/time all season. They'd just catch and fall or run out of bounds. Hopefully Bryce has cleaned some things up. But honestly no one will care if he's completing passes. I'm more concerned with him staying aggressive and continuing to take shots downfield.
  21. I'm not worried about the QB right now. If he plays, great. If not... I get it. Would rather see Bryce out there a few drives but I understand why they don't want to risk it yet. I really want to see the starting oline against the Jets starters. I want to see Carolinas starting dline stop the run and create pressure. Also want to see some WRs run after the catch. I know y'all ain't gone like this, but the only player that juked a guy in the open field last year was the QB. Hot take: wide receivers used to be smaller and shifty players for a reason. I prefer a Stefon Diggs over DK.
