Agreed. I can't help but wonder the amount of damage Kuechly could do in this defense alongside Shaq playing at the level he's been this season. Hindsight being 20/20, there were just too many missing pieces on the defense between YGM/Horn/Burris that it trickled through the rest of the defense in a myriad of ways. Perryman was just a waste time. Now that I think about it, with his questionable decision making and lack of availability during TC/preseason, I'm not sure he ever wanted to be on the East Coast (comes from LA chargers, ends up back toward the West Coast with LV).

We missed YGM. Probably one of our better guys at stopping the run and setting the edge and brings more size as a traditional 4-3 DE.

The Cowfugs are massively more talented and have invested more resources into the offensive line along with a better O-line coach. We're trotting out Moton and the 4 matadors and I'm not sure if Jim Hanifan could turn this group into anything more than mediocre. This. I remember Dallas did the same thing to Seattle in 2014 when Seattle had a dominant defense. Some of the same pieces are still on the O-line they have today. Seattle still went on to win the NFC championship. Not saying we will, but even still, Dallas hung 160 yards rushing on them.

This right here cannot be overstated. $47(fuggin Hurney)M in dead cap. As bad as the line is, we're realistically 1 offseason away from potentially having a legit NFL O-line. If we see growth out of Christensen/Brown, hit on just 2 more draft picks (preferably one of which is 1st rounder), and bring in just a couple of average vets in FA, the O-line goes from being atrocious to adequate, possibly even good.

This. And what I don't understand is, if Kraft & Goodell/Belicheat & Goodell are as close as they appear to be, why the hell aren't the other 31 teams ready to burn Goodell at the stake?
