Y'all downers gotta chill, MIA was built up over 3 YEARS, Flores had Tua on the bench behint Fitzmagic, then they added Waddle Year 2 after Flores was fired, and traded for Hill in year 3, and signed Armstead etc. We're literally heading into Week 4. This was never a season where playoffs was to be expected. This is all about getting Bryce developed for what's to come.

Sam, and Pj were the QBs throwing the past two years to TMJ...and we tripping over 1 game with our perceived franchise QB. Y'all weird, new offense, new reads, new chemistry....relax and let these young guys develop.

ALERT: Panthers sign another practice squad WR
SetfreexX replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Y'all do realize we'll be in Nickel defensive sets primarily...that ONLY calls for 2 IDL, 2 Edge, two off ball LBs and 5 DBs, and that will be somewhere between 65 to 70 pct of the snaps. The "34" base defense only requires 3 DL, so if we carry 5 for now the numbers work, the depth quality is the concern, not the quality. Also it's 3 TEs and Ricci, he's a fullback...that's normal as well even if you wanna classify him casually as a 4th TE. -
Trade: Panthers Acquire Ihmir Smith-Marsette from Chiefs
SetfreexX replied to Bluetooth's topic in Carolina Panthers
Because the team DC has him as "Nickel CB". He will remain at safety for me, and play Nickel as needed. He's gonna be multiple for us. -
DET had some of their 1s out there, but it wasn't a full compliment.

Jonathan Taylors 232 carries in 2021, and 332 carries in 2022 would like to have a word with you.... https://www.espn.com/nfl/player/stats/_/id/4242335/jonathan-taylor If anything the offense features the ''primary'' back keep in mind over those years guys like Nyheim Hines, and Marlon Mack were also on that Colts roster. All signs point to Sanders being a ''big'' part of the offense which is why I think we haven't seen another vet added -- Chuba, Blackshear, and possibly Peoples are probably penciled in as the depth. For the most part the offense Thomas Brown comes from with the Rams featured Gurley while he was healthy, we saw a bit of a split / back and forth with the other back I can't think of at the moment; but both offense have a history of ''featuring'' the number one.

His annual value on that deal is NOT nearly enough to be a cause for concern. It's like 6-7M per season for a HB who's 25 currently. The backs that didn't get ''paid'' are the ones seeking CMC / Derrick Henry Money -- hell even Joe Mixon took a pay cut, as well as Aaron Jones. You still have to have legit talent at the position, and teams like NYG choosing to pay a mid QB 40M, over the guy that was they reason their team functioned is a perfect example of how desperate teams are at QB, they'd overpay an average to below average guy franchise money, while ostracizing their best player in the course.

CJ Stroud's is 73 ovr, with 89 THP via EA marketing ''Lie Detector'' promo. They did not give away any of Bryce's -- he's probably a 74 to 76 ovr, with a weaker arm as most felt Bryce's was ''good'' enough to make all the throws but not elite.
-
All rookies were lowered INTENTIONALLY during the beta, he was like a 62 ovr, and Bryce was a 63 or 64 as to not spoil rookie reveals.

This ^^^ but they too proud to add this.

He hadstand up reps coming out of Penn St. but keep in mind we will be in Nickel over 60% of the time, he will still be a ''defensive end''. It's a positional change but I expect his role to be similar overall, some Nickel DE / DT pass rush reps. Haynes / Barno / Johnson are more likely the OLB's that will feature in base fronts. YGM will get snaps I'm sure, one thing to keep in mind and people forget this because his sack numbers were low, but he was one of the better run defenders for us last year. So his ability to set the edge in the 3-4 as an OLB is likely undervalued by most atm.
-
People really tripping over us giving up a 4th... Get the WR bc Chark is on a 1yr deal, and Thielen will be 34 next season. Dj Johnson brings rare traits size, speed, strength, we have no one like that on the roster. If they didn't draft your guy it happens, I can see the vision.

Josh Klein: strong probability Panthers trade out of #39

Panthers sign wide receiver Damiere Byrd
SetfreexX replied to Jackie Lee's topic in Carolina Panthers
Byrd is a plus compared to Shi, better receiver, he's faster, and is a proven returner. I'm still stuck that we were featuring Shi over TMJ early this past season. Chark / TMJ / Thielen / Shenault / Byrd -- Shi vs a rookie for the final spot IMO. -
It blows my mind how many people give 0 F's about an NFL QB being the size of a JV HS football player. He has undeniable talent, but people are ignoring a HUGE red flag. Durability long term is a real concern. Hes not a small QB, he's tiny. He's smaller than most of the people typing on here.

Which player will benefit the most in the 3-4 Defense
SetfreexX replied to NAS's topic in Carolina Panthers
OLB aka EDGE defenders still line up vs the OT's the difference is gap responsibilities, and the fact he'd be in a 2 point stance vs 3. The new alignment IMO has a chance help tap into Barnos athleticism as his physique camp is Brian. DB, Roy, and McCall are the only IDL over 315. Shy and DeShawn size wise are 3-4 DEs, as they're both listed right at / under 300 pounds. I think we see a body or two added via the draft,or latter free agency. Considering we'll be in nickel personnel the majority of the time, I'd say that personnel group should be what people really key into as that is roughly the defense you're in 65% of the time or more depending on the opponent. I think it's why we went heavy with the investment in Bell and Rowe. Playing Chinn next to Shaq as the 2nd LB, Rowe as the big nickel, with Woods, and Bell at Safety. This would give us the best mix of pass / run defense when facing 11 personnel, and being flexible enough to handle 12 from an offense. -
I don't understand the infatuation with Young. If he's on USF none of you would care, it's the ALA ties. Is he intellectual sure, but his arm is just above average, which is documented by evaluators, he's not a field stretcher, and his speed is mid. There's no physical trait that pops like with Kyler's speed, he's just a really good college QB. But once he takes a few NFL licks at 190'ish pounds y'all gonna be sick knowing his build which is slim + the lack of weight were a BIG risk.
-
Some of the ways y'all look at positions makes me question a lot. This isn't the 90s where guys way less at some of today's positions. We're likely looking at: DL - Brown, McCall, Tuttle ILB - Shaq, Smith Edge - Burns, Luvu
-
300 lbs is not a traditional NT, he's more likely the DE opposite DB, NT right now defaults to MCCall originally listed at 380, but now listed at 345.
-
I'd be fine with AR, gotta keep in mind that we're forecasting a bit, Stroud and CJ ''are what they are'' accurate QBs primarily one with traditional size. In three years what could they ''add'' to their game to be possibly generational franchise type QB's? More accuracy, Young is going to gain much more weight, and they are both ''mobile'' but they are not 11 on 11 run threats. If we look at BAL, and PHI success it makes sense to consider AR as mechanics, etc. can be worked on over time, but AR already comes in a TOP athlete in the NFL and has that to lean on while developing. With that in mind in three years IF he's dedicated he would bring more to the table than either Young or Stroud. Him (AR), plus our OL, and a competent run game could be scary. I'd be ok with Stroud or AR, I don't want a QB that's 5'10 who has a ''playing'' weight in the 190s. That's basically Steve Smith at QB.

What a Shaq extension/restructure could look like
SetfreexX replied to ECHornet's topic in Carolina Panthers
He was drafted to replace TD, and Ron pandered to vets so Shaq was rotational, aside from health Luke would still be playing most likely. Shaq came in as a will LBer. Not a Mike. -

SetfreexX replied to ECHornet's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'd say cut him for the full savings 13M'ish, look to sign Okereke who has history with Reich. He's younger, more athletic and would pair well with Smith as the iff ball LBs. -
Carr isn't signing to be a bridge, or for bridge money. He's going to sign somewhere where there is no immediate threat to his position as ''the guy''. NO / TB make the most immediate sense, neither has a 1st round pick, and are likely to spend to attain his services. The Raiders seem to be the Jimmy G destination, it just kinda makes to much sense. Jordan Love has a 20M+ 5th year option value, so if they pick that up it stands to reason Rodgers is as good as gone, and he already said no to SF, so you'd think NYJ was the answer, as the Packers said they won't send him to a NFC team.
