  1. Go watch ALA tape, he has a good amount of reps at RG, if memory serves the LG swap was for 2020.
  2. Offense: QB - Sam Darnold / PJ Walker / Tommy Stevens HB - CMC / Chuba Hubbard -- Depth -- Rodney Smith, Trenton Cannon FB - Tommy Tremble (based on personnel package) TE - Dan Arnold / Ian Thomas & Tommy Tremble (based on personnel package) WR - DJ Moore / Robbie Anderson / Terrace Marshall / David Moore / Shi Smith OL - Brady Christensen / Pat Elflein / Matt Paradis / Deonte Brown / Taylor Moton (I think Brady has a chance being a bit older, and developed physically, Brown's track record at ALA can't be denied so I think he edges out Miller) -- Depth -- Erving, Little, Dailey, Scott, Miller -------------------------- Defense: (Showing as a 4-3) DL - Burns / Brown / Jones / Gross-Matos -- Depth -- Fox, Haynes, Roy, Nixon, Miller LB - Shaq Thompson / Denzell Perryman / Hasaan Reddick -- Depth -- Jermain Carter (Area of need) CB - Jaycee Horn / Donte Jackson / AJ Bouye -- Depth -- Troy Pride / Rashaan Melvin / Keith Taylor S - Jeremy Chinn / Juston Burris -- Depth -- Kenny Robinosn, Sam Franklin, Myles Hartfield ----------------------------- In my opinion another off-ball LB, and veteran safety are needed, I feel good most elsewhere on the roster.
  3. People wanted him because Olsen was oft injured / showing signs of aging and if memory serves we were picking in the range he got drafted. The real issue was he was like a 25 year old rookie if memory serves.
  4. A lot of people need to start watching the pressers between draft days, you get some solid insight. We got the extra 3rd as mentioned - 2nd round value in 2022 We also received a future 4th - that covers the one we gave up for 2022 We also re-couped the 6th -------------------------------------------- And to take it further beyond those points, we started this draft with 7 picks, and ended it with 11. I'm sure many of us were thrown after we passed on Fields, but by the time Friday wrapped the plan really took shape for me. I understand WHY they passed even if I don't agree, they're building the best possible ROSTER, as we saw with SF, if you have a complete team, you can make a move for a QB, and we're not tied long term to Darnold. I will saw I'd swap out Fields for Horn knowing how our draft went, and I'd have not picked up Darnold's 5th and let those two battle in camp to get the most out of each. But I'm also not paid millions to make these decisions so
  5. Locks: 3 Moore / Anderson / Marshall Penciled in: 2 Davide Moore - Physical prowess similar to DJ's, makes a lot of contested catches vertically, has the 3rd most experience behind DJ and Robbie Shi Smith - Has a build, and athleticism that should make him a good fill in for Curtis, he's not as thick as Curtis, but is closer to a true WR vs Curtis who was a true hybrid Special Teamer: 1 I think this spot goes to Zylstra because he's been available, and has in game experience, this could easily be Kirkwood as he brings a bit more as a receiver, but he was hurt all year, I believe he only appeared in one game. PS: Bayless / Kirkwood or Zylstra (if eligible) / Simon
  6. Bouye, and Jackson will probably be the ones moving in and out based on matchups, I don't see Hartsfield doing a lot of this at all, he was depth last year, and IMO didn't show enough to be more than that. Keep in mind Rashaan Melvin is also 6'2, and we have Pride as well who flashed as a rookie. Not a lot of reason for a UDFA guy like Hartsfield to see many snaps in coverage at corner. Stantley Thomas-Oliver had some nice moments too.
  7. Fuuuuugggg Dalton - 1yr / 10M, and they traded a future 1st, and a 4th and 5th for Fields Darnold - 1yr / 4M prior to the 5th getting picked up today -- We pass on Fields, this is nagging at me man, shiiiii
  8. I know I'm not alone in having my hopes for a potential franchise QB crushed by the selection of Jaycee Horn...still sucks a little but. The ONLY thing holding it down for me is what this defense is STARTING to look like. DL - Derrick Brown / Dequan Jones / Yetur Gross-Matos / Morgan Fox -- Depth, Bravvion Roy / PJ Jones EDGE - Brian Burns / Hasaan Reddick-- Depth, Marquis Haynes / Christian Miller Off-ball LB - Shaq Thompson / Denzel Perryman -- Depth, Jermaine Carter Jr. Corner - Jaycee Horn / Donte' Jackson / AJ Bouye -- Depth, Rashaan Melvin / Troy Pride Safety - Jeremy Chinn / Justin Burris -- And everybody else -------------------------------------------------------------------- We have made 8 STRAIGHT DEFENSIVE DRAFT PICKS FROM LAST YEAR'S DRAFT TO LAST NIGHT'S PICK. I think today we're looking at Safety, and OL along with trading back to try to get additional picks to address those positions. On paper we look like we have the makings of a very good defense, the safety spot could also see a veteran come in post draft as we have some room to make a move there. Tonight should be interesting. I hope the front office is right, but knowing what Fields brings as a passer / runner, it's bittersweet.
  9. I just don't see how we could operate under the assumption that Darnold is it... Darnold / Walker / Grier / Stevens That QB depth is abysmal, and Darnold is UNPROVEN and coming up on either the 5th year option + future extension -- that is a HUGE risk to skip on a QB like Fields, hell even Lance knowing we have a year they can sit, and we don't have to pick up Darnold's option. To me it just makes too much sense not to do.
  10. I'm not sure which presser you saw, but the one from the 27th seems a little different in tone --
  11. I mean you'd have to see it at least somewhat as cold feet on a prospect, to me them trading up in ''win now'' mode as some eluded to never made a ton of sense when you're looking at the 3rd, 4th, 5th best QB base don how you view -- Jones / Lance / Fields It's unlikely any of these three guys could be better than Jimmy G. year one...so why not continue to invest in the team as a whole, and now those future picks are gone -- this has gotten interesting, because man if they get it wrong.....sheesh. The Mahomes jump didn't cost this much if memory serves, and that's what the move will be compared to.
  12. For those that don't know how this piece worked.
  13. No, the point is ARI solved their QB issue by being aggressive and not working with ONLY left overs. The BEST LT's are known by name, so the POINT that you missed is, you can get the QB first and BUILD around them knowing you have that position settled. But being as you are it's no surprise the sentiment of the statement was lost on you.
  14. This is the NFL, there is no such thing as FAIR, produce, and be available -- we moved off our franchise's BEST player for those reasons. Darnold doesn't get or deserve a ''fair chance'' if a better option is in the draft, he was Plan F up to this point.
  15. Eagles have a Superbowl, if he was pulling strings in that window come on down bahahahahaha -- it's gone to poo since then sure, but they got a Lombardi.
  16. People really act like they didn't take Rosen at #10, then Kyler at #1 the NEXT YEAR! But, but Steve Wilkes wasn't a good coach, he didn't have anyone around him... Arizona got Kyler and flipped the offensive personnel in just two seasons...and given Kyler's size may have had more questions in NFL transition than a guy like Fields or even Lance who are every bit as mobile, but 225+ and each is 6'3'' or taller. We are not, and should not be married to the idea that Darnold is the answer. Also without google, can ANY of you name the LT for the Cardinals....I'll wait. If you care about PFF they finished 12th, and we finished 18th. -- https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-final-2020-offensive-line-rankings -- And we did that with a revolving door at LT, and started a UDFA the majority of the season at LG. Erving / Rookie / Little / Scott -- gives us options at LT that we didn't last year Elflien / Rookie -- Gives us options at LG that we didn't have last year C, RG, RT -- all return starters from last season, I feel good about where we could go on the OL, and in the training camp / post camp FA market. -------------------------------------------------- If our draft looks like this after 3 rounds I'd be fine: QB / LT / G I could also see trade backs at the top of the 2nd / 3rd to add additional picks to take fliers as well to help increase our draft capitol.
  17. The last time the Panthers had a 2nd Round QB (trade capitol given up for Darnold) vs a 1st Round QB in camp was............................ Jimmy Clausen vs Cam Newton, just sayin'
  18. WFT was in the playoffs even after a loss to us, and here we are as a board thinking Sam Darnold is the future, lord save us. I don't care that he's 23 years old, give me the top prospect and rookie pay to build this team around vs having to pay 20M on Darnold's 5th year, and 1) paying him beyond that or 2) having to start over again. This off-season is the cross-road, take a swing at a top prospect, or look at a guy in Darnold who was not in an ideal situation in NY and hope for the best...I personally like Field's resume over anything Darnold did coming out of USC.
  19. People aren't ready for this level of honesty, there's so MANY sold on Darnold and the ''he was on the Jets'' now that he's here he should be better rhetoric. You know who else was on the Jets, and was Darnold's back up....Teddy, and a lot of y'all anointed him too. We have not SOLVED the QB issue yet, having a LT is great, BUT uhhh, who's throwing the ball? There are more competent LT prospects than QB's not to mention we can spend FA money for one moving forward with a rookie QB contract in place for 4 years, with the 5 year option in 2026 -- THINK ABOUT THAT POO!
  20. Because a QB falling isn't guaranteed, and they are DONE with Teddy. Darnold is insurance, don't know why this is lost on so many people here. We really didn't give up anything aside from a future 2nd. The only thing we gave up this year was our final 6th, 2022 comp picks could come into play next year, the 2nd is the only selection of notoriety but we could flip Darnold, and we're likely to receive some pick capitol once we move TB. And the 4th next year is easy to recover as well. I don't see any real issues at all.
  21. It AMAZES me how quickly YOU GUYS FORGET -- Darnold was Plan D, hell maybe even Plan F. *We backed ourselves into a corner saying we needed an upgrade at QB (all the Teddy Slander) *Tried to trade Teddy for Stafford *Tried to trade for Watson (prior to allegations) *SF traded up to #3 taking a 3rd QB off the board before we select Don't buy into the social media videos, and the love shown towards the acquisition, Darnold is ''draft insurance'' does he have potential sure, but are you ready to hitch almost 20M to that for his 5th year option? We could draft a QB as talented or more so (Fields / Lance with + athleticism and passing ability) and have him on a rookie deal for the next several 4 years, with the 5th year option. DJ Moore / Brian Burns / Taylor Moton -- are three guys we know will be getting PAID in the next 1-2 seasons, extending Robbie is also an item to address as he's in the final year. Do you really want to have 5th year money tied up in Darnold when he's still a HUGE question mark, or have rookie QB money tied up in a top prospect with a chance to build the best possible team around him while at a rookie's pay grade? (Hint - Follow the money) Not to mention IF Darnold is just above average do you want to be in a position where we've played our way out of a future to pick, only to have to pay an avg to above avg QB franchise money if we get past the 5th year option or we'd be looking at starting over again in just two years searching for a QB, and we'd be at about the mid-way point for Rhule's contract. I'm okay with Darnold if a top QB doesn't fall, I will lose some faith if we pass on a QB at #8. We have ammunition to trade back at the top of 2, and 3 to add more picks this year where the talent drop off between prospects is less severe. *I could see us trading up *I could see us staying put *I could also see us trading back This all depends on how it goes Thursday night, that flexibility is why we traded for Darnold, if the board falls our way he's 4M on the books if we keep him to start in 21', we trade TB to a QB needy team (potentially DEN), and we have our guy who can take time developing.
  22. Some names to look at post draft for additional cap relief based on positions drafted: (Numbers rounded for a quick summary) Justin Burris - 4.8M cap hit / 1M in dead money = 3.8M cap available to create Frankie Luvu - 1M cap hit / 180K in dead money = just under 1M Cutting / trading TB would free up 2M in cap = around 2M Extending a guy like Donte' or even Robbie would also create some additional relief https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/carolina-panthers/cap/ -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I could see Burris being the easiest to move on from if we draft a Safety high enough: Chinn / Rookie / - Depth - Franklin / Hartsfield Could also see TB traded as we CAN afford to keep him, no value in a straight release
