It's bc BC can back up two spots, so if Mays or Ickey goes down he could fill both.

That is great and all but based on how Bryce looks....seems unlikely to happen, the best thing is to move on early versus letting it linger. Move on, invest into the roster as a whole Free Agency / Draft, and once the ''team'' is ready be in position to make a move for a QB. I'd take a Fields, he at least offers elite traits to build off of, or sign a vet to bridge the gap. I'd be interested in Milroe if he dropped to the bottom of the 1st in a trade up similar to how we got Legette. Let him sit a year and develop. While we would have still used our likely top 10 pick on a blue chip player, I'm also not against trading back in the first depending on the options etc. We need a lot.

Not we, Evero. Chinn showed all the promise in the world as a ''box'' defender, but since Evero tends to play a lot of 2 deep shells, Cov 2, 4, 6, and 9 (this is aside from personnel is why we struggle with the run at times because the safeties are typically both back) it limits Chinn's ability as a utility piece, and playing him as a F/T nickel was not something he could do fool time. Chinn is a chess piece you move around each game to attack an offense, blitz, run defense, coverage, not sit off the ball 20 yards. Dude is 6'3 220, he needed to be deployed near the LOS.

So we don't like... Drafting Leggette Brooks projects to be a stud, and IMO was always a pick to replace Chuba because of Sanders' contract Getting our last 2nd round pick back via a draft day trade with LAR Drafting an actual passing game threat at TE in Sanders Signing Hunt, and Lewis, plus staying the course with Ickey Helping the corner unit by flipping Barrett (who was released) for Jackson Basically getting Dionte for FREE, then turning him into a 5th when he wasn't going to resign here anyway, and doesn't fit the timeline being 29 next season I can understand the ire against the defensive signings, but this was always a "let's see what we have in Bryce" season so resources we're redistributed and we found out quickly Bryce isn't it. People have got to be realistic considering cap space, and the situation the roster was left in after years of mismanagement dating back to 2020. All things considered they've done a solid job and have 9 picks heading into the draft.

The financials would not work if Dak was just extended. Do you even understand the dead cap ramifications this would lead to for Dallas....

BREAKING: Panthers signing former 1st round pick CB
SetfreexX replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Not too many of those available for cheap considering our cap situation. It'll be a draft / free agency priority I'm sure. Hopefully Wonnum and Barno add to that once healthy. In the interim seems like they're taking fliers on guys that have the size / athleticism pedigree and looking to cement this group heading into next year. Horn and Jackson, have been a nice duo so far. -
Poll: Has Bryce Played His Last Snap as a Panther?
SetfreexX replied to Captroop's topic in Carolina Panthers
This is the most realistic scenario; Bryce has been bad. This wasn't even about ''winning'' we could not even COMPETE with the way Bryce was playing. So unless somehow Andy just somehow plays worse than Bryce, then at that point it really doesn't matter anyway. -
Panthers need to move on from Young ASAP
SetfreexX replied to ProcessBlue2's topic in Carolina Panthers
Well he ain't going anywhere so gotta deal with realistic options; not referring to the OP's suggestions, but in general. All we can hope is that Tepper learned his lesson, and has stopped the incessant meddling....which honestly seems to be the case since Dan, Brad, and Dave have been on board. -

That's Dionte's role, Legette will probably feature on slants, comebacks, overs, and manufactured touches (sweeps, screens) while he develops. People need to realize we have enough for him to be the 3rd or even 4th option if needed this year, same way we can afford to wait on Brooks, and Samdera "if" needed.

QB School, A Reminder of our 2023 Offense
SetfreexX replied to SetfreexX's topic in Carolina Panthers
Bryce has a lot he needed ro work on (my guy was AR15). However, we have Bryce and I can admit he flashed plenty, and in some cases overcame the deficiencies and got in position to win games. No QB was surviving what we put out there last year...saying he sucked with all the negatives around him goes a bit far. -
QB School, A Reminder of our 2023 Offense
SetfreexX replied to SetfreexX's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'm not looking for positives per se, I don't want to forget just how bad schematically we were so that I can compare to 2024. -
QB School, A Reminder of our 2023 Offense
SetfreexX replied to SetfreexX's topic in Carolina Panthers
To have a true base of our 2023 offense as a reference so I can have an informed opinion on how far we've come as the pre-season / meaningful games begin once there's new tape to look at. I'm not a fan of being an uneducated fan. -
With so much emphasis on the overhaul as it relates to the staff, and player personnel, I thought it would be a good time to reacclimate myself with the poo show that was our 2023 offense. For those that blamed Bryce, and said he was horrible etc. take a moment to remind yourself how bad the offense was collectively. Bryce has his items to improve, but those that blind hate on him, please educate yourself. There are SEVERAL videos on our 2023 offense, 30 minute breakdowns.

I agree with the edge assessment (not DE's since we run a 34 base), but are people not aware that they did have Ngaukoue, Lawson, and even Haynes in for workouts this week...we have just under 6M in cap space, so negotiating will have to be sorted out as it relates to bringing in a more premium position like an edge rusher... Now, back on topic; this is a WR 4-6 type of guy who at least ''already knows the offense'' and offers return ability, not to mention just in general adds some more speed and most of all short area quickness. Dionte ran a 4.53 at the combine Thielen is turning 34, and was never a burner, we know he gets open, but he's not a threat vertically Legette ran a 4.39 so we know that was part of why he was drafted to help take the top off TMJ who ran a 4.38 at his pro-day, we just never see consistent usage as it relates to him Mingo ran a 4.46 ISM ran a 4.42 Legette, TMJ, and Mingo and are all in the 6'1 - 6'3 range and we 220+, none of them would be classified as ''quicker than a hiccup''. Dionte over his career, and ISM in spots are the only ones that showed some play-making ability in space last season that are currently on the roster. ____________________________________________________________________________________________ Also for those stuck on the domestic violence piece, google is your friend. https://www.si.com/nfl/buccaneers/tampa-bay-buccaneers-news/bucs-news-deven-thompkins-investigation-nfl-2024 The NFL has ended its investigation of former Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Deven Thompkins, who was accused by his estranged wife Maria Castillos of domestic abuse in May of this year. In a statement, NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy said that there was no "sufficient evidence" that Thompkins had violated the league's personal conduct policy, per FOX Sports' Greg Auman: "Following a review of the matter, the league did not discover sufficient evidence to support a finding of a violation of the personal conduct policy," McCarthy said. Castillos, who is getting a divorce from Thompkins, released photos on her TikTok that appeared to show bruises on her body that she claimed Thompkins had caused. The Buccaneers released Thompkins with an injury designation during mandatory minicamp not long after the images were posted, and Thompkins later filed a defamation lawsuit against Castillos. Per Auman, those images have now been deleted from Castillos' TikTok account.

Proof...? If there's not police report, arrest, etc. An accusation isn't grounds to hold against someone. Poster above said best he could locate was tik tok...

No, and even Yosh Nijman got barely a mention.

Panthers working out UFL’s Offensive Player of the Year
SetfreexX replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
This is basically what I remember as well. -
So the completions to Jameson Williams at Alabama just didn't happen.... Bryce can throw downfield...but Mingo a 4.49 guy, and Chark who couldn't get off the LOS were our best outside options...with a 33 year old never been fast Thielen. Let that sink in...THEN consider guys like Throckmorton, Zavala, and Bozeman getting destroyed each and every game. Bryce has his struggles, but let's not act like we had real vertical weapons, or even a potent offensive scheme.
