Of course we don’t KNOW who is going to be available, but we do know there will be elite players available because they are every year just like I showed you… Burns isn’t worth multiple elite players and/or cheap 1st round rookies. As others have said, a lot of this has to do with timing. We kept CMC and gave him a big contract. All for what? 7 wins? Having MORE talent or the fire power to go and get the QB we need is worth WAY more than Burns.

The first thing I said was “some great throws in there”…. Lol
-
Yes, some great throws in there. I don’t want you or anyone to think that I don’t like Stroud as a prospect. He’s awesome! He’s just a bit too robotic to me. I’m not a statistic guy. I don’t care if one prospect throws 60% versus another throwing 62%. Young passes MY eyeball “IT” factor test more so than Stroud. The difference in really good NFL QBs like Cousins, JimmyG, Carr etc and Allen, Mahomes, Rodgers etc is simple. All of those QBs can throw darts in a clean pocket, but what happens when the pocket collapses and you have to throw across your body on one foot, run for your life and raid a hit shoot throwing 25 yard dart, etc. Young has shown a lot of that , where Stroud hasn’t. I do go back to Stroud hasn’t had to either. So I can’t knock him specifically for something he hasn’t had to do. If we get either I’ll be happy. I just personally like Young better.

I did mis that game. I didn’t watch any College Football yesterday as I had to work all day. No comment here on that particular game.
-
The people saying CJ is more accurate and Young has this great line need to go back and watch the games. CJ and Ohio State haven't played ANYBODY. I’m not dissing Strout and saying that’s his fault, but his receivers constantly have 5-10+ yards of separation. One of which will be a top 10 pick. Strout hits them most of the time which is good on him, but his oline and weapons are a lot better than Young’s and that helps with accuracy. If you don’t believe me, go back and watch any game Ohio State has played and then go back and watch Young against Tennessee last week. His line was getting blown up all night. The amount of plays he made with quick throw accuracy and scrambling in and out of the pocket were a thing of absolute beauty. I too wish Young was 3-5” taller, but he checks every other box. Arm strength, accuracy, mobility, reading defenses, preparation, leadership, and the “IT” factor.

Versus what? Letting him walk for nothing like Peppers?
-
Well he’s 6’4 and 230lbs so he’s obviously much better and NFL ready than Young. *sarcasm* This coming from a Clemson fanzzz

I feel people get so enamored or specific about QB’s size/weight/speed and don’t look to see if he has that “it” factor. Young has that and I’ll be over the moon if we draft him. CJ Stroud has all the measurables physically, but looks robotic out there to me. Young makes it look easy. I’m not a QB guru, but I’d put my stock in Young all day.

Your daily Laughing coaching staff press conference (9/22)
SazmoRanger replied to ncfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I hate when people try and compare this team to that 2013 team without any context. The main two things being Cam and Luke aren’t walking into this locker room. -
Well of course, but you’re talking about the Panthers that have only won 5 games every season for the past 3 years. I’m not going to believe they’ll make a huge jump into the playoffs until I see it. Just like I’m not going to believe the Chiefs miss the playoffs this year unless I see it. Could that happen? Sure, but it’s not likely based on the last 3 years.
-
Lol yes… Have you not seen how horrible he’s been with that? Again, I said the offense should be better and defense should take a step back. Not sure what you’re arguing. This will be an improved team, but this isn’t going to be a 9+ win team.
-
Maybe, maybe not. Rhule is still going to be the one managing the game like all HCs do. People for some reason love McAdoo, but his success has come off of two HoF QBs. I’m not saying he’s going to be bad, but it’s not like why hired McVay. Even with our additions, we aren’t all the sudden in one year going to win 10 games.
-
Can’t both be true? Our offense was bad, but Rhule also sucks. To me, we had no business getting beat by 22 points to the Giants last year. Scoring only 3 points was because our offense sucked AND Rhule sucks.
-
It’s both. Our schedule is brutal. We play a lot of really good teams. That and teams we’ve played that had lesser talent we lost to as well. Take the Giants for example. Not only did we lose to them, we got absolutely demolished. So basically our schedule is harder than next year and we still have Rhule as HC who has proven he does less with more.
-
I just don’t see us winning too many games with or without Baker/CMC. We’ve had games the last few years we should’ve easily won and yet find ways to lose, convincingly. Also, we lost our last 7 games last year and it wasn’t even close. Not even competitive. Browns - Toss up Giants - Toss up Saints - Toss up Cardinal - Loss 49ers - Loss Rams - Loss Bucs - Loss Falcons - Toss Up Bengals - Loss Falcons - Toss Up Ravens - Loss Broncos - Loss Seahawks - Win Steelers - Loss Lions - Toss Up Bucs - Loss Saints - Toss up Going through the schedule I have 8 games that I can see us having a realistic chance at winning. I feel we can beat the Falcons, Saints, Seahawks, Giants, and Browns. I’d say at BEST we split with the Saints. We’re 2-9 against them in our last 11 meetings. That’s down to 7 wins. We’re also 3-8 against the Falcons in the past 11 meetings, so I’d say we’d split with them too. That’s down to 6 wins. That leaves the Giants and Browns. Browns I’d lean to a loss as it’s the first game of the season and Giants are a true wild card. Should be a W, but they beat us by 22 points last year. So let’s say we split those games as one W and one L. That brings us to 5 wins. Realistically, we’re looking at a 5-7 win season. I’m sure out offense will be improved, but our defense will probably take a step back. Fun times.
-
Also, this is the biggest problem with our staff. Making moves to win NOW instead of building for the future. Worst part is the wins haven’t done either.
-
If we’re slinging out hypotheticals, so COULD Corral. Look I want nothing more than to eat crow and Baker be a 10 year All-Pro, but I’ve been at the table ready to eat for 3 years now. This will be the 4th QB myself and others think is a waste.
-
You’re comparing what we have in Carolina to those rosters and coaches? Not to mention comparing Baker to Brady, Manning, Mahomes, and Stafford,? Whatever makes you feel better my dude.
-
Well I’d try and do the same thing the Chiefs, Chargers, Raiders, Packers, Bills, Ravens, Texans(DW4), Bengals, and the Cardinals did. The formula is out there.
-
Why do people keep comparing him to Darnold? Please stop. The people who didn’t want to trade for Baker don’t think Darnold is better. NOBODY, thinks that. Congrats, Baker is better than the worst starting QB in the league last year. Most people like myself just don’t want to settle for mediocrity and don’t believe Baker is an elite QB. You need that elite QB to win the Super Bowl in today’s NFL. Just because Sam sucks doesn’t mean we should’ve traded for Baker.

Carolina Panthers are a mess, bad situation, etc.
SazmoRanger replied to NAS's topic in Carolina Panthers
Lol what? You’re trying to make your case based on Donovan McNabb going to the Redskins in his 12th season at the age of 34? You really don’t think that the Browns would be better if you dropped Mahomes in Cleveland? Time will tell and hopefully I get to eat a ton of crow, but I’m not sitting at the table waiting. -

SazmoRanger replied to NAS's topic in Carolina Panthers
I understand that to a point, but just because players move to another team doesn’t mean we don’t know what they are. If Patrick Mahomes signed with us do we have any questions on if he’s going to be elite? If Darnold signs with ANY team in the NFL do we question if he’s going to be hot garbage or not? Baker has had more or for argument sake the same talent around him in Cleveland and hasn’t been anything special. At the absolute BEST we’re the Tennessee Titans. A mediocre QB at the helm surrounded by very good talent, but can’t get anywhere because their QB isn’t elite.
