For me and a lot of others, I don’t think it’s that WE are impatient. I’d actually say the organization/coaches have been the impatient ones. Two years ago this team was bad and had a lack of talent all over the field. We had just lost Cam, Luke, and Greg. We all knew this was a 3-5 year rebuild. Rhule and co tried to rush the process and have made two very stupid decisions. Both are the signing of Bridgewater and trading for Darnold. Imagine a world where this team made the same decisions minus those two. We’d have the same results except still have draft capital and more cap space. I think a lot of people, including myself, don’t have any faith in Rhule and this coaching staff to make the correct player personnel decisions, specifically on offense. They’ve made two horrible ones that will hurt us at the most important precision in the NFL. As you’ve said, I believe their only hope to keep this job long term is to somehow get Watson.

Person puts the nail in the Watson to Carolina coffin
SazmoRanger replied to SgtJoo's topic in Carolina Panthers
This doesn’t put a nail in any coffin. To me, the Dolphins and Panthers think the Texans are asking way too much. Sure, the Panthers are grandstanding saying, “f%ck that, that’s way too much. We’re out.” Classic negotiation tactic. BUT, I think both Panthers and Dolphins are walking away in hopes that the Texans come down on the asking price. Neither team cares if Watson plays in 2021, they’re looking for a long term franchise QB. So either Texans go down on asking price and trade him by Tuesday or Texans gamble and hope his legal troubles get resolved and they trade him next year. -
People keep complaining about the 3 1st round picks and keep bringing up those guys. We have those guys and are 3-4 and on a 4 game losing streak with our latest loss to the 1-5 Giants. We have those 3 guys but it doesn’t matter. It doesn’t matter who you have if you don’t have an elite QB. Show me the drafts where we drafted an elite QB and I’ll show you 1. That’s 2011 and that’s it.
-
All those players are great, but they sure as hell aren’t helping us win, so I don’t understand this argument. We’ve had 3 top 15 picks the last 3 years and yet we still sit at 3-4 with a 4 game losing streak. Hell, look back at the last 5 years… CMC, Moore, Burns, Brown, And Horn. They all seem to be great, but it doesn’t matter if you don’t have an elite QB.
-
I would say the same to you as well. This isn’t Madden. Good luck building a offensive line and then somehow finding a franchise QB. We’ve been a franchise for 27 years and have had 1 franchise QB. MAYBE two if you really consider Delhome a franchise QB. I look at the Browns for instance. They’ve had problems finding a franchise QB for DECADES. They’ve had a top pick in the draft for years. They built up their offensive line to one of the best in the NFL. Their franchise guy is Baker Mayfield. He’s a top 20 QB in this league and they’re still struggling to stay above .500. Again, both positions are important, but you’re not winning ANYTHING without an elite QB. There’s a 25 year old Elite QB to be had right in front of us.
-
I know this will shock many of you, but the O-line is very important and so is the QB. Both are super important to improve. Here’s the thing, we have a chance RIGHT NOW to upgrade one of those positions with a top 5/10 player. We don’t have the opportunity in front of us to upgrade the offensive line. Grab Watson and use the draft/free agency to upgrade the line.

My thought was this frees up Moton’s tag money and the dead money we’ll have to eat by cutting/trading Teddy if we draft a QB and want to do that.
-
All those players were drafted 25th, 28th, and 30th overall.... He’s talking about giving away the 8th overall AND two other firsts which will probably top 20 picks... Would you trade Burns, Brown, and Fields/Lance for Dak?

Possibly the craziest draft story you might read
SazmoRanger replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
People say this because he’s on Clemson’s roster and don’t actually look into his offensive personnel. This year on the offensive line he had one linemen who will be drafted this year. Also, MAYBE one more lineman who will be drafted in the NFL in the future. This is why Clemson lost like they did against Ohio State. Clemson Oline is straight garbage. This coming from a Clemson fan. Clemson has absolutely no TE on offense. Definitely not going to the NFL. Clemson also had two of its 5-star WRs injured all year. He had two WRs that will POSSIBLY be drafted. Amari Rodgers is a guarantee, but he’s probably a 3rd-5th rounder. Powell MIGHT get drafted. His best weapon was obviously ETN. Sure, he has some NFL talent around him, but not much. Especially when you compare him to who he had versus who Fields and Jones were surrounded by. Both Fields and Mac were surrounded by a ton of NFL weapons and lineman. Not saying Trevor didn’t have a decent supporting cast, but to insinuate that his greatness is because of his supporting cast is lazy. He did a lot more with a lot less versus a Fields and a Jones. -
I already said as much in this thread....
-
All this is true, I’m not sure your point? Subject isn’t questioning CMC, his worth, and his contract. The subject is would you trade Watson for CMC. Would be an easy yes for me.
-
I’m fine with letting him walk too. My point like others in this thread... it’s not hard finding productive RBs in the league. Super star QBs like Watson are harder to find and are a hell of a lot more important.
-
I don’t think anybody with a level head thinks Davis gives you anything close to CMC, but he’s a really good back. I’d rather have Watson and Davis then Teddy and CMC.
-
But we had a run game with elite rusher Mike Davis. On another note, I don’t see the Texans wanting to take CMC because they’re in total rebuild mode plus his cap hit. You have valid reasons for it wanting Watson, but other people have as valid reasons for wanting him

We've taken cast-offs as of late and made them money. See Ted Ginn and Mike Mitchell. Hopefully, if we sign this big boy, that continues.
