Kayvon Thibodeaux??? How you feeling if he was the pick?
SazmoRanger replied to Basbear's topic in 2023 NFL Draft
You’re right, that’s what I meant. Elite talent, not skills. -

I think he has some elite skills, but if you went in a time machine 5 years from now and told me he was a bust, it wouldn’t shock me. The thought of Thib, Burns, Brown, and Reddick really excites me. I do feel Thibs is a good fit here as well. Thibs is on the smaller size so that worries me, but I was worried about Burns for the same reason. -

To add to my reply…. I’m not the biggest fan of Thib, but if it’s between him or any QB because the top 3 OT are gone, I wouldn’t mind him or the safety from ND. Sure, I’d rather go offense but this team isn’t 1 or two drafts away. Grab the top talent on the board, fire Rhule next year, and start an actual re-build next year allowing your new coach and staff pick their QB. -

I’d love it. To me that means the top 3 OTs are gone and I’d rather grab Thib than a QB. Sign me up. -
The way I look at it is this…. Sign Reddick and trade Burns for a 1st. Burns is more valuable for a trade because he is on a rookie deal and younger. If a QB is taken in the top 5, one of the top flight OT or DE like Thib will be available to pick. Use that additional 1st from Burns to take a shot at a QB.

It SEEMS Pickett to Carolina is all but done. As others have said, Rhule seems to love the kid. I can’t remember the quote but he talked about drafting QBs and their bust rate. It wouldn’t make sense to me that he’d hitch his wagon to Pickett while passing on trading up for Herbert or drafting Fields/Jones. He has chosen Bridgewater and Darnol, so maybe it does make sense. Just not in the positive sense.

I don’t even mind if we don’t address OL in free agency(this year). We don’t have a lot of cap room and have multiple people we need to sign. This offense can’t be fixed in one offseason. What I’d like is if we drafted Corral, draft lineman with remainder of picks we do have and then next year go heavy in the earlier rounds on OL. To me we either draft QB in the 1st this year or next. Same with OL. Either we draft OL in the first this year or next. So sit Corral this year as you build the line the next two years so he can come in year two and not get absolutely destroyed.

This is my fear. I said it in another thread, but it feels like we suck and are always 1 pick from having that elite guy that fits our needs. 2021 - Sewell picked by Lions 1 pick before us. 2020 - Herbert picked by Chargers 1 pick before us. 2019 - Christmas Wilkins picked by Miami 3 picks before us. If the top 3 OT and top 2 DE are gone, I’m picking either Corral or Linderbaum. I hate the thought of us using a top 6 pick on a center. An elite center can be found in later rounds. Just see KC last year, but if he’s an All-Pro for 10+ years, no complaints here. I’m not huge on a QB this year either. Out of all of them, I’m highest on Corral. I think he has the “IT” factor, but I do worry about his injury history… especially behind our line. I also feel like Rhule needs to be forced to play Sam for all the stupid sh*t he’s done at the QB be position. I don’t want this regime to pick a QB because they’ve proven multiple times that they’re clueless in that realm.

There’s always HOPE if you can draft a franchise guy, but the problem is…. drafting that franchise guy. I mean just look at the Bengals. It took them 30 years to get that franchise guy. Look at the Browns, Dolphins, Jets, Bears, Redskins, etc. They haven’t been relevant for years because their franchises haven’t picked the QB. Here’s to hoping somehow our franchise gets it right soon. We need our next Cam!

Yeah, but I think he’s talking about Tepper AND Rhule talking about it taking 7 years. So no, it shouldn’t take 7 years. It’s taking 7 years because Rhule is way over his head. Do you think that the Panthers wouldn’t be in a hell of a lot better position if the 49ers, Rams, Titans, Chiefs, etc organizations were making the choices instead of Marty/Rhule?
-
Just crazy. He’s who I’ve wanted since I knew we were picking top 10. I feel we’re always a few spots away from getting the guy I want. 2021 - Sewell to Lions right before us. 2020 - Herbert to Chargers right before us 2019 - Christian Wilkins 3 picks before us.
-
I don’t see this happening as I think Ikem is sky rocketing up draft boards. BUT, I’d be happy with this even if it’s Cross that’s still available.
-
I’d be happy with this. Sucks to think after we were so horrible this year that we get the 3rd OL lol. Hopefully if this is our pick, Cross ends up better than the other two. We shall see.
-
The only two I like are Corral and Pickett. I’m not in love with either of them, but they both have talent. Not crazy about Pickett’s age and lack of multi-year production and I’m worried about Corral‘s ability to stay healthy. If we had a new HC, I wouldn’t mind taking a chance on one of these two. But I think I’d rather us pick OL and let our new coach next year pick their QB.

Everyone laughing about Dallas last night. Next morning: Panthers set to interview Cowboys offensive consultant.

I’m good with it all, but as others have said… we’d be lucky to get a 2nd round pick with CMC’s contract. This goes back to Hurney being a moron and signing this dude to a max contract when he still had 1 year on his rookie deal AND the 5th year option. I don’t see any team that’s Super Bowl contending stupid enough to give up a 1st. Also, why trade Brown? Sure, he hasn’t been a force that we thought he would be, but the kid has shown flashes. Hell, he played awesome his last two games. I wonder how he’d develop if he had a real NFL staff around him. Also, even trading him for a 1st opens up a hole on the interior defensive line. You’re getting rid of a starter and depth. You’d have to just draft another DT to replace him. To me it would be smart to keep Brown. I don’t want to give up on him after just two years under a horrible group of coaches. Especially for how cheap he is. All-in-all, I love it. It makes too much sense, so this organization probably won’t do any of it.

So Who Can/Should we Get as our New OC if Rhule Stays?
SazmoRanger replied to Michael G's topic in Carolina Panthers
I told you it’s because I’m a glutton for punishment. Watching this Panthers team while being led by Matt Rhule in hopes of some sort of positivity of any kind like hiring an actual competent OC is pointless. Here’s to 2023, when there might actually be some hope of a real NFL coaching staff. I hate you’ll forget me. That really hurts deep. -

I did answer the question. Lol Go bitch about me in the 800 threads. -

Does anybody really care or think it’ll make a difference under Rhule’s leadership? Me either. -
Fixing the OL- a painful proposition
SazmoRanger replied to Chardee MacDennis's topic in Carolina Panthers
You really think the Jets care about Saquon at all? He hasn’t seen the field basically his entire career. He’s got nice looking legs, that’s about it. Just like with all of our quality players aging, we missed the bus on trading CMC for a top tier pick. CMC isn’t going to garner anything higher than a 2nd rounder and with his contract, we’d be lucky to get that. Much less a top 10 pick. Lol. -
Unfortunately, I agree.
-
My biggest fear is Rhule drafts one of these QBs at 6 instead of us grabbing a stud O-lineman to try and save his job. Rhule should have to live or die by Darnold for trading for him and exercising his option.

What if Rhule hires NFL Coordinators and positions coaches?
SazmoRanger replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
My question isn’t if he hires experienced NFL coordinators, it’s who would want to come to this sh*t show? Seriously, people see from the outside that Rhule doesn’t have it in him to be an NFL HC. Why would an experienced NFL coordinator move their family to Charlotte when it’s obvious that they won’t be here past a year? This is why we need to bite the bullet and fire Rhule.
