Panthers Select Xavier Legette WR - Pick 32, Round 1

I like it, take another one -
that guarantees one of Leggette, Mitchell, or McConkey will be there at 33. Not sure they like McConkey enough to take him though.
-
terrible post. Worthy has bend and wiggle. Lot of people here don’t want Worthy as soon as he broke the record because people here make assessments that shallow.
-
Absolute terror.

there’s a big demographic of people here who distill picks down to nothing more than “I don’t want to draft a bust” but that’s not the strategy teams employ in the draft. Look at the contract aj brown just got. You’ve got to build an offense with skill players. But you’re not just going to buy an aj brown. You’ve almost always got to draft him. servicable center play can be bought for next to nothing, and a good center isn’t adding any wins to your win total versus an average center. the one thing they can’t do is go center at 33. Maximize value.
-
I’d still expect a run on the top defensive talent at some point which pushes the next group of wide receivers down to us getting the top prospect on the defensive side of the ball outside of the top 10 is a nice get for someone
-
the rules are set up to favor WRs in a matchup between the two positions, they thus inherently offer more to your capacity to win. defensive players will still get drafted high but they need to be rare prospects
-
Why? Game has changed. Top 10 picks are precious and the draft is about maximizing value. Offensive players contribute more, they cost more on their second contracts, they’re all around more valuable.
-
we’re picking 33, it would absolutely be a failure by the front office and potentially the scouting department to not walk away with a receiver

Why is no one considering double dip at WR?
Growl replied to micnificent28's topic in Carolina Panthers
I’ll toss out some bold predictions that one or both of the Texas wide receivers goes before Brian Thomas, and Keon Coleman has a big slide, maybe going behind some names that a lot of fans aren’t familiar with (including me) -

I wouldn’t be surprised if mcconkey slid a bit. All it takes is one team but it sure looks like he’s much more well liked by fans and the media than nfl teams. Joe person has said the panthers “like him, but like others guys more.” No offense but It’s weird that leggette gets so much criticism here for his career production by the same people who are all in on Ladd. -
more and more talk that he’s a first rounder candidate, schrager had New England jumping us to get him

there’s no need to necessarily go into this draft and go box ticking with your shopping list, and there’s especially no need to go setting picks on fire for lesser value positions the talent at WR is there in the late first early second range, mining that a bit especially on the offensive side of the ball, is a good idea. -
Peter Schrager’s mock now has Worthy going 17 overall, ahead of Brian Thomas. I can see it.

Austin Corbett's move to center has seemed "inevitable"
Growl replied to Carolina Panthers's topic in Carolina Panthers
people are vastly overestimating the transition from guard to center -
well tell us who they want

sure there’s criticisms but welcome to the nfl draft. I’m generally more concerned with what these guys can do as opposed to what they can’t. He has rare attributes. That’s hard to get outside the top of the draft.
-
nobody plays as fast as their 40 time, but that’s not the point. He’s bendy and explosive pre and post catch and is always the most explosive guy on the field. He’s held up and done it consistently over three seasons. im not getting locked into this idea of needing to find a traditional X player, especially since we’re not picking in the 1st round. If he struggles against press, then motion him and line him up off. It’s not uncharted territory he has rare attributes that good offensive coordinators dream about. That’s hard to get in the second round and I’d much rather do that than hoping some of these other guys-all of them with their own set of flaws-to an increasing degree the further down the board you go-put it together.
-
you’ve got to understand that for most posters the evaluation is as simple as “broke the 40 record? So he’s John Ross huh no thanks”
-
Probably my favorite of any mock I’ve seen, wonder if there’s any sourcing or if he’s just saying what he’d do

he didn’t do anything this past season and I don’t care I still want him on the team -

if we came away with both the Xaviers I’d be pretty pleased but I don’t really think they’re considering it -
Texans new uniforms. Past time for Panthers

literally every team that’s debuted a new uniform this offseason has offered up rock solid evidence for why they should stay with what they’ve had -
🚨Tony Pauline: Panthers interested in CB Mike Sainristril @33

draft a second round receiver or dont bother. this team has enough of these softball lob type players at the position make a meaningful investment there or just go into the season with what you have and draft guys where you can still get starter potential positions in the 3rd
