If they trade for Payton they have to come away with a 1st round QB this draft and the whole league knows it
-
you’re weirdly emotionally invested in this
-
what does it mean

Panthers receive permission to interview Sean Payton

lol alright buddy rein it in -
Only one playoff team in the NFC had/has a 1st round draft choice at QB.
Growl replied to SCO96's topic in Carolina Panthers
perhaps the real message to be taken here is that the Panthers have a chance of having the NFC’s only elite QB that alone makes a swing on a QB all the more worth taking -
I don’t think it’s that. I think many of them want an average QB because of their belief on “the way the game should be played”
-
it’s especially weird in this case because Jax sank or swam on Lawrence’s back entirely, he had a bad first half and thus the team was bad, he went off in the second half thus the team was superb i get that this weird anti-QB crowd was standing giddily at the ready at the end of the second quarter last night and now the narrative has to be salvaged and framed in a different context, but nobody is falling for it last night was such a thorough deconstruction of “QBs aren’t important” and that it happened with a number one overall pick having so much influence-and ultimately winning a playoff game for a persistently bad franchise-only rubs salt in the wound of this odd crowd that’s fighting so hard against really vanilla truths.

it’s honestly strange

“if you’ll just look over here at this carefully selected information…” -

hey NEVER REACH FOR NEED instead take BPA!!!! so that we can immediately start discussing how much trade value they’ll have in season 4 while we’re still looking for the only piece that really matters we’ll finally get those two 1’s this time! the cap is gonna be so healthy
-
lol the fact that he puts it in parenthesis counters his own point It was unimportant. They couldn’t win any grudge match or meaningful game they played. They lost every time. They padded with their record against patsies and never came through when it counted.
-
also if draft day comes and goes and they pass on a QB prospect because “we just didn’t see a guy we liked” after they cooed about the first round grade they had on Matt corral last draft then LOL
-
Scott fitterer has been here a while now, if he still doesn’t believe there is a QB worth drafting then he just needs to be fired and replaced with someone who understands what it takes to win football games
-
lol which part exactly do you disagree with other than “I’m anti-quarterback and this appeals to my confirmation bias”

Under No Circumstances Should We Trade a Haul for a QB/Pick

the team needs to keep doing exactly what it’s been doing and not make any changes at all to that wildly successful formula -
well this is obviously what’s going to happen people-including the people who play the game, want the game to be played on grass. but more importantly, the NFL is not going to admit it’s wrong thus some stupid and absurd BETTER THAN GRASS technology has to be invented to show that the NFL Is Dedicated To The Safety Of It’s Players and Darin gantt will write a lovely propaganda piece for panthers.com saying that “I can’t believe it’s <insert current year> and people still believe these professional athletes should be playing on the same things their grandpaps played on in this multibillon dollar industry which, is, above all things, dedicated to the safety of its players and can do better” of course ultimately the NFL doesn’t have to take even an iota of criticism and will, to the point, be saving a little bit of money to not make its athletes or fans happy

If you want to get the #1 pick from the Bears, what's your move?

there’s 6 very plausible QB teams ahead of us -
it is absolutely hilarious that a win in one of the most bland games of football ever put to television was being pushed as a necessary evaluation point for Wilks if they had informed Wilks of his future before the game a few starters could’ve avoided injury

are you serious lol well a quick google search revealed this, and if you’ve seen florio or anyone blather on about it at all over the past few months it’s consistently a relavant factor: the league needs more black coaches, and the Panthers need to do their part to make it so, regardless of the quality of candidate available or the position the franchise might be in https://qcitymetro.com cited this as one of their central arguments for why he MUST be the hire “He’d be the team’s first Black head-coaching hire. Prior to purchasing the team in 2018, David Tepper had an ownership stake with the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Rooney family are the majority owners of the team and the late Dan Rooney, former team president and former chairman of the league’s diversity committee, was an advocate for hiring minority head coaches. In 2003, the Rooney Rule was created to require every team with a head- coaching vacancy to interview one or more diverse candidates before making a new hire. The Steelers hired Mike Tomlin in 2007, and he remains in his position, but many teams have yet to hire a Black head coach.“ also did you really think I of all people was going to mince words lol

oh sorry if I wasn’t clear hes black edit: and the Panthers as a sacrificial small market team are expected to take the reins on helping the nfl achieve its desired reputation on Capitol Hill while the more media friendly teams are free to operate under a pretense of hiring the individual they feel is best suited to make them perennial super bowl contenders
