lol I don’t care who Dave tepper thinks which guy is the right fit please continue to shill for the billionaire hedge fund manager a bit more though, I promise he cares nothing about you -
Coaching Interview Thread IV: A New Hope
Growl replied to Ricky Spanish's topic in Carolina Panthers
why is this team consistently at the mercy of who manages to buddy it up with businessman outsider Dave tepper in the interview and not the individual with the strongest on field resume’ -
Coaching Interview Thread IV: A New Hope
Growl replied to Ricky Spanish's topic in Carolina Panthers
I was gonna make a thread prediction how it all played during the zenith of Payton hype and so far it looks like I’ve nailed it ->Payton hype fizzles then withers away ->Steichen emerges as favorite candidate, long enough for everyone to get excited ->team begins redirecting attention elsewhere in attempt to suppress expectations ->Hires Frank Reich shame I didn’t pull the trigger on posting it, so far it looks like it’s been spot on -

which professional hiring firm has been brought in to handle these decisions so that the tepper family doesn’t have to watching the same people just lap up whatever propaganda is thrown their way because it’s their bit part to play despite the team’s almost unbreakable record of making the wrong decision is hilarious -

no no you had it right the first time, if he can’t get his priorities in line we don’t want him go play your dumb little “title” game, Shane. Your loss. -

yeah I don’t want a coach whose busy fiddling with playoff games, better we key in on these guys that are available because they aren’t in the playoffs -

there’s no way you can look at phillys offense in a playoff game and say “this isn’t for us” even if the interview “didn’t go well,” that’s one of those things that makes you sit back and say “let’s give this a second shot” steichen likely just didn’t express enough enthusiasm for being here and they aren’t convinced they can get it done so they’re getting ahead of the embarrassment -
this entire search has been a PR spin for Dave’s rep. Dave set out to dispel criticisms of him and I’d imagine much of the search has been a sham. id imagine the second Moore interview is just there to appease the fanbase because it seems pretty clear they really only had eyes on three candidates this cycle-Wilks, Reich, and Payton-and everything else was smoke and mirrors to make tepper look thorough and patient

lol they got the impression he wasn’t going to pick them -
small victories are all you will know

I’m just flabbergasted on how they built a list out of these guys resume’s then completely disregarded all that when they got to the interview cycle reich is just so charming! feels like Sausages at Rhule’s all over again reich cooked fries somewhere didnt he

So what’s your role within the organization
-
can’t wait to hear the “Wilks had multiple interviews for head coaching positions” argument around here you’ve gotta understand the most important thing when you’re hunting for a coach is whether or not they’re from the area
-
it really is impressive and unsurprising how they zeroed in on the two worst candidates

imagine watching philly roll the giants in the divisional round of a playoff game and thinking “if only he had interviewed better, get Wilks back on the line”
-
apparently some local media guy said it on wfnz Wilks has a lot of shills in local media so take it fwiw but it’s what was said
-
honestly the biggest problem with keeping fitterer is that his seat has gotten kind of warm and he’s liable to do “save my job” things you start hearing there’s a voice in the organization pushing to rehire Steve Wilks and sign Derek carr there’s a pretty good bet who it is guys who feel like they’ve got to look like they know what they’re doing now aren’t taking big swings on potential superstar/bust QBs in the draft fitterer needs an 8 win season and he needs it now, can’t afford to let a rookie player do scandalous things like “develop” or “learn and grow”
-
“Steichen didn’t interview well” -the team realizing they aren’t going to get Steichen
-
yeah I cant believe I’ve talked myself into frank reich but here we are

I can’t think of anything that would deflate this fanbase faster than going through this hiring cycle with an emphasis on progression and revitalization and a commitment to joining the current NFL only to end up with Steve Wilks back as head coach to lead the panthers to ~.500 over the next three seasons i think I’d just be done. It wouldn’t even be a protest thing. I simply could not work up the enthusiasm to to watch this milquetoast blandmobile chug ahead again with the same formula that has perpetually failed to yield them back to back winning seasons I didn’t watch a down of panthers football between the ravens and final Saints game last season, it wasn’t intentional, I just had no desire to watch that ballclub. So the template is already there. Idk how many times this team try to do it the same way with the same insufficient results and still talk themselves into plodding ahead. ”but Wilks says he has a plan!” Lol
-
the eagles aren’t interviewing Steve Wilks either
-
imagine hiring a coach that everyone had a chance to interview and no one did
-
this team sabotages itself by not committing one way or the other they scoff and hiss at the idea of tanking but when wanna be treated like a primo landing spot for potential coaches with no viable path to a QB teams aren’t being evaluated on how many promising “defensive cornerstones” they have now-the coach in question wants a QB or wants a clear path to a QB. he doesn’t want to come in and “prove there are other ways to win” or to “build from the ground up” he wants a quarterback. this team won’t commit to being bad and has been too timid to commit to being good so they just flounder around and struggle in this awkward middle stage where nothing changes
-
it’s not the coach’s job to impress the players If the players wanted Steve wilks they shouldn’t have put up yet another losing season the players had a chance to have their say and they blew it and now they have will have to impress the new coach or they’ll be looking elsewhere for employment
