If I remember right, they started using him closer to the box which was not the role he was meant for when signed. With a bunch of other holes I thought they would hold onto him another season but the move makes sense. I mean, they did get 4 'safeties' from the draft last season (Chinn, Robinson, Franklin, Hartsfield).

Possibly the craziest draft story you might read
Untouchable replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
Come on, it's Lawrence by a mile. People have too much time to think and talk themselves into these crazy conclusions. -
He would be a really good fit in the offense here. He thinks so too. Says so starting at about the 5:40 mark:
-
He's probably the best at evaluating QBs I've seen lately. Wilson definitely feels like he's going to be QB2.

13th overall for them. I'll take this swag in the back end all day Draft Network tends to do a good job too.

Love you KK and you're a special talent but it had to be done.

REPORT: Mac Jones not high on Panthers QB draft board
Untouchable replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
As much as I wish it to be true, it's also lying season. No "reports" matter until the draft happens. -
For the Panthers, the one you excluded. If you get a young starter then A. B should only be an option in a rebuild/cap like scenario.
-
Darnold should be on our radar as an extension of the draft.
-
Really intelligent take on both the offensive skill and DB positions. A basketball background is so incredibly helpful in all those positions.
-
I think you nailed the 3 likely positions. WR seems likely. Miami needs multiple badly. Bengals, Eagles, Lions could all use at least one too. Chase is a feature WR prospect, Smith is super versatile and Waddle is a speed freak. Farley or Surtain look like the 2 if you need a CB. Only team that doesn't need a corner in the top 8 is Miami probably (maybe the Bengals could wait too) Pitts is a freak and absolutely should go top 10 but is only a question because of position importance. I'd guess if teams don't take a 3rd OL prospect it would be 2 WRs

If a QB isn’t there at 8... Slater is your pick

If a QB isn't there trade back -
Like Fields and a big fan of Banks. I'd be estatic if Grant is there in the 3rd but I don't think that's going to happen. I worry about Myers because he's been able to play in between some very very good guards his 2 seasons.

Going through his other tweets, his analysis seems spot on IMO. The game was called drastically different from the NFC Championship Game as well as from how it has been called all season. Both instances favored Tampa significantly.

So of all the QBs potentially on the carousel this offseason only 3 caught my eye. Watson, Stafford and Darnold. Watson and Stafford where obvious significant upgrades on QB1. Darnold I view as just an extension of the draft. I didn't really believe Tua was up for sale but he is in the same boat as Darnold. A 2nd rounder tops would pry away a young developmental prospect. None of the others offer an upgrade over Bridgewater or at least not enough of one that is worth losing more capital or cap space over.

Interesting article on QB's That can be had....
Untouchable replied to Big Sexy's topic in Carolina Panthers
Just the first one. Though I could be talked into the last one too. -
Eagles traded from 8 -> 2 for Wentz a couple years ago... It will be pricey but it might not be as expensive for a couple reasons. Obviously it would be for pick 3 instead of 2 for one. But also, in 2016 there were only 2 players viewed as potential franchise QBs vs. likely 4 this year. So at pick 3, teams would still have at least one fall back plan.
-
You need to be able to make plays with your arm and legs. By arm, I mean with arm strength to fit it in tight windows. Jones (and QBs like him) have not become above average since the practice rules were changed. They would end being the first exception to the rule. Look at any QB drafted in the last decade. Anyone touting Brady or Brees types hasn't been paying attention.
-
If I'm taking a chance on any of these QBs it's on Mond

He was D2, that was the problem
-
This. He's a D3 prospect who knows if he gets in a game against D1s for the first time he can skyrocket his stock even more. I've already seen suggestions he could go Top 50. Maybe in the 60-75 range is more reasonable like Ali Marpet a couple years ago.

We better be looking at him already, he's performed exceptionally well this whole week. Should be a big riser.
