  1. Of them, I trust Moore to turn it around the most. Burns could turn back up, but his size is always going to be an issue in the run game. We need to play from ahead for him to be able to be really good. Anderson, I think he may need to go. I didn't like the extension at all. Hassan...he's a sack master, but that's about it...again, need to play from ahead. Snow...I think there is just too much game tape on him, and if we can't consistently stop the run, we don't have much of a shot. Brown is what you get when you draft a non pass rushing lineman in the top 10.
  2. But, like said here, this isn't a game for financially feeble folks, you need to be setup well to make it work. I would like to pay off my home, but that would be a massive mistake with interest rates where they are and the current inflation. Time to take on some more debt....something I haven't said in 20 years.
  3. Even with skyrocketed costs of real estate, I'm hoping to stick some money there very soon. At less than 3% interest, with long payback times, and inflation going haywire...it's a no brainer. I don't even care if I pay 20% over what it should be, it's free money....as long as you can hold. You have to be able to hold.
  4. This team has historically been in "win now mode" although the rosters were rarely in "win now" shape. It's a carryover from Marty Hurney.
  5. I was all in on team CMC when drafting, thought that someone like him could have won us the Super Bowl had we had him on the team vs. Denver. That said, extending him, 3 years into a 5 year deal was classic stupidity that has plagued the franchise for decades. We are a dumb team, always have been.
  6. I can tell you this, we spent way more than I would have felt comfortable with...but my wife wanted very specific things from said dog....now I'm glad I spent the money...he's exactly what we were looking for, in every way. I look at it as a 10-15 year investment in your family...not just a "dog". Mine is a "mutt" but a very very designer style of mutt. Medium Bernedoodle. Wanted the calmness of the Mountain Dog but the non shedding and brains of the poodle. To say I'm impressed would be an understatement.
  7. Buddy (who is great with $$) and I were looking into trying to do a money and labor help out somehow here in Wilmington for kids... He would teach them how finance and business works, and I would teach them about how to do day to day things to lower their outgoing cash. He teaches about compound interest, I teach them how to hang a ceiling fan....etc... May be hard to get it off the ground, but we are wanting to do it. A more financially free world is a much happier world.
  8. I'm a little older than most here I would imagine by the lingo most use...and general way of thinking...that said. I see this with my generation, the previous, the following and on both sides of those. There are people who are good with money, bad with money, and outstanding with money. If you grow up in a household that doesn't talk about money, you will likely be bad at it...even if the reason you didn't talk about it was that it was always plentiful. In my house, money was always real real tight, sometimes not there at all, and they never really knew why. Work hard, try to not spend too much, and you would be OK. That was what they went by. Didn't understand compound interest, didn't know when it was right to re-fi that house, didn't know how to be on a budget. They made it, but it was harder than it needed to be. End of the day, most of the broke folks I know make plenty, they just spend plenty more....a $50 brunch is more important than paying off the credit card. More important to go out with the girls for drinks than plan out that week's meals so they didn't have to eat out. People will go buy a new car so "the warranty isn't out"....I hear that one a lot. Like a $3,000.00 transmission would break you....but your $800 per month in car payments is just dandy for years on end. I personally just think that people would simply rather not think about money. The school system certainly doesn't want you to think about it.
  9. Fine by me, although I shudder to think who Tepper would name as interim. Hell, if he wins a meaningless game or two Tepper may just give him a 6 year deal.
  10. Team isn't moving, get that out of your head. Tepper is in too deep, has no clue what he's doing, and not enough accountability to admit his failures quickly. He wants to be right, while alway being wrong. Many of us here know more about how the NFL actually operates than he does...and that's a sad state of affairs.
  11. MR's contract is easy to work around, thank goodness. Sam's is a tough one. I still don't understand us giving him that 5th year, but whatever, I "get" the move. June 1 cut, spread the 18M over two seasons, move on and hope your coach and GM learned a lesson. Rhule is likely on the hot seat already, didn't think I'd be saying that already.
  12. Had we gotten Stafford or Watson, much of this bemoaning is taken care of. We didn't. But that doesn't mean we won't try like hell again this offseason...one thing is a proven here, they will keep trying until the QB they want is in place. I expect a hard push for a franchise guy this offseason....again.
  13. I do believe that he is all but finished...however there could be a little more juice left...I'm not a huge fan of the move as a "football move", but I totally understand. Everyone is desperate in this situation.
  14. Little of both I'm assuming. He was likely embarrassed by the multitudes of visiting fans, terrible losses, and flat out bad QB play. Guessing this makes fans tune in, show up, and buy merchandise....and hopefully wins a few games along the way.
  15. I think that we can win a little more consistently with Cam back there vs. Sam...but we do have to stay healthy and the D HAS to play at a top 5 level. Again, not optimistic, but it does give me a reason to tune in for at least a couple more Sunday's.
  16. Depends on if Cam and Joe can get on the same page...we can't ask Cam to pass for 25+ per game. He will need to be a game manager with his arm, and use his legs to stay ahead of the chains. If we can run the ball effectively, consistently...we can win games. Ugly football, but you can win. I'm not optimistic, but it's not out of the question.
  17. This could work out to some wins...but the playoffs? Doubtful. If CMC stays healthy, and the defense stays stout, Cam could make a difference so long as they keep him from trying to be Superman. A VERY strong run game with a running QB mixed with some playmakers on offense and a stout defense can win games...needs to keep his pass attempts at 20 or so or less.
  18. Ummmmm.... Quite a few folks would have had to swallow some pride to even get us this far. Interesting to say the least, but I'm not sure than Cam can still play...at least not at a decent passer level. Would love to be proven wrong. If CMC stays healthy, and Cam can even play average football and find the open guys here and there...we may eek out some wins...good or bad, this staff does seem to want to win.
  19. He can be efficient, no doubt about it...but not with this O Line. I watched him very closely last year, and while Rivers never had a gun, he could barely get a 10 yard out to his guy without a perfect pocket. He could play well for the Saints, I think he would end up tarring his rep here though. Hate he never got a shot at a ring after that 06 debacle with LT going out and him having to play on a torn ACL in a playoff game...was always going to be hard in that conference with the Steelers and Ravens always being who they are, and Brady and Manning I perfecting their craft.
  20. One of my favorite players of all time....would have loved to see him in a Panthers uniform. Past tense is meant to be there.
  21. This is what "1st round talent" looks like when said player doesn't care about his job.
  22. We are trending up, except for the two positions that are the hardest to fill in todays NFL...QB and O Line. Rhule is OK in my book, nothing terrible, nothing great...but he can grow, and we better hope he does. Fitt is in year 1, and had a really good draft and a decent year in FA. Don't love the O Line acquisitions, but finding good OL on the streets is damn near impossible in the NFL. Tepper, not happy with, and will likely be a LONG time before I am....if ever. I'm pretty sure that Rhule and Fitt know that winning the division this season was a LONG SHOT with Tampa still firing on all cylinders...and I think they have theirs eyes on next season. QB I'm not as worried about as regimes in the past. We were legit trying to get a top flight QB, and just couldn't land the plane...but we were trying like hell. Had LA not offered up 2 ones...we likely have Stafford, had Watson not been a complete dumbass and weirdo, he would be here. I keep saying to keep your eyes open for us to go after another top flight QB this coming off season...Watson, Rodgers, Russell, etc.... I'm not convinced that this regime was all in on Teddy, and I'm pretty sure Sam was a placeholder with tremendous upside....if you could tap into it...looks like that upside may never materialize...or at least not here. I'm not happy with the team on the field, but I'm happy with the trajectory.
  23. The bolded is true. If WE are checking out, then the rest of the fanbase has long ago done the same. Want a "wine and cheese" fanbase? This is the way to do it. Fill the stadium with fans who can't name 3 of our players and incoming fans looking for an easy W. Way to go Dave.
  24. September and October, the tourists are finally gone and Sunday can once again be a peaceful day on the boat. I'm trying to figure out what to do with November and December Sundays....Haven't had to worry much about Jan. football with this team in a long time.
  25. OK...or do the DOW...you get the idea. He makes bad decisions with this football team, has since he bought it, and I see nothing slowing that down. Believe if you wish, but I'm going to use track record vs. hope.
