  1. Scared of getting left out in the cold again is my guess, but IMO it likely means were weren't sold on any of them after the 1st 2. Just a hunch though. Or maybe they have the likely players at 8 as being MUCH higher on their boards then Fields or Lance or Mac? If they have them graded in the 20's or later, and Sewell, Slater, and Pitts are in the top 10, I kinda get it. Either way, I'm going to pull for him, he's got a good situation he's walking into...can't hope that it works out for both him and the team.
  2. I'll have to wait for the full thing, but certainly going to watch.
  3. Like I said in another thread, if we take a TE at 8, I'm going to need to take a break.
  4. Me either, just think that we may be looking at it as a possibility. Much prefer to build the team correctly, that said, if you can't get the guy you want, and you feel the team is close (DEN when Manning was brought in) I can see signing off on it...especially Fitts.
  5. I'm still thinking that we are looking at next season as a possible "get better" scenario at QB already. Wilson or Rodgers would look nice in Black and Blue.
  6. After landing at 8, I firmly believe that Darnold was plan C, and A created a mess for itself, and B's price was just a bit too high. Seems Fitts and Rhule really like Sam, seems Sam's personality and background will fit in with Charlotte, and the Panthers/Culture. Writing on the wall for Sam to be the starter, Teddy to be cut or traded, and wouldn't surprise me at all to bring in a vet QB into the building. Take the Tackle, and pray that Sam can be something...that's about where we are.
  7. If we take a TE, with two possible high end left tackles on the board... Well, I'll just have to take a pretty long break from the team.
  8. OT. Either one of them. Don't care for another position at all, but could be consoled if both T's are gone and we take the top CB. No thank you to TE, 3/4/5 QB, LB, or WR.
  9. Thank you. Wasn't exactly sure how it was structured. I'll take anything at this point.
  10. In a cash strapped year we may look at it as a smart move? Designate him a June 1, save 12M this season and put's 10M in dead money into 22. Or, like you said, keep someone who will be miserable in the locker room, pay him his 22M, and it will still cost us 5M in 22 to cut him...or two seasons of 2.5M in dead money. So, if we can't trade him, you are adding 12M to this years cap space, and only really costing the team 5M more to do it this season vs. next. I don't want Teddy anywhere near this team, and I think the feelings are mutual.
  11. Last offseason, I think, was my most hated one in Panthers history...and then the team came out and did exactly what I expected them to do. Be bad enough to keep us in the top 10, but just good enough for it to be at the rear of the top 10. I like to call that a "Hurney Special". Last offseason was embarrassing. We are making some better decisions this year for sure, I don't like everything we have done...looking at you Fitts for restructuring, but I understand why...but we have done a pretty good job so far.
  12. While fun, I think I'd have a heart attack if they select a TE or WR with the 8th...not kidding. I'd pull for him, but would always have wanted the LT in that spot, Slater or Sewell.
  13. Weary. I have been very pessimistic of this franchise for a VERY long time. I'm somewhat optimistic, but really don't want to get overly invested in the team again until I see consistent, smart football moves. Tepper finally wising up and getting Marty as far away from the team was a good first step...in fact, that may be the only move that Tepper has made so far that I liked. We screwed up last offseason....and BAD, really bad, but at least we seem to understand that, and are taking measures to not screw up this one nearly as bad. I'm OK with the FA signings so far, and am a fan of the Darnold trade...mostly because it doesn't kill our future by going all in on the now. If we take a QB at 8, I'll be less than thrilled, mostly because if they aren't Trevor or Zach, I'm just not convinced by them. Continue to build the team. O Line, Secondary, LB Corps, D Line, Edge...we need everything, but the smart call here is to try your absolute best to reclaim Sam, but at the same time prepare for the next guy at the same time. Who knows we may see Russ or Aaron forcing themselves off of a team next season...if we extend Moton, draft heave O Line, keep our weapons on the outside and CMC...we could be very attractive to a top end vet QB...especially in this division. Treat Sam as a rookie. Draft Sewell or Slater. Extend Moton. Solidify the IOL through this very deep OL draft. Build the team smartly....please.
  14. Haven't had quality O Line play in Carolina in a LONG time. Let's change that. I'm on board with Slater or Sewell at this point. If we somehow go Pitts, I'll be done.
  15. What I would have liked to hear his take on, would be weather he thinks Sam can excel and grow with Rhule and Brady in his corner?
  16. Agreed. Landing Sewell at 8 would be like the year that Star fell to us. Player that we loved, waited patiently and it worked out for us.
  17. It's Teppers fault for keeping Ron and Marty when he first got here, then he kept Marty only, finally to get rid of him two years too late, and 1 completely ruined chance at a legit rebuild. Hurney can't help himself but give out bad contracts, especially to players who don't play at the most important positions. Backup QB, Running Back, Off Ball Linebacker. You can't blame Hurney for being an absolute dumbass, he's proven that he's highly capable of that many many times here...but you can blame the owner who keeps said dumbass employed.
  18. 03 was about the closest to 100% with a 75% hit rate. Eli, Philip, Ben JP Losman
  19. Bingo. I'm not mad at Teddy, I would have signed that stupid ass deal in a minute as well. I'm mad at Tepper, he's the one who screwed this whole thing up.
  20. Make the right pick at 8 for the future of the franchise, not for next season. With that in mind, and with this slate of players...for me that's whatever QB that falls that we have an actual top 10 grade on. If Rhule and Fitts have Lance graded that high, take him. If it's Mac, take him. If none are rated that high, or none fall then we have a decision to make. For me, that would be either a LT or a CB in this draft. Sewell or Slater are fine by me, and in fact, I'd prefer them over Lance at this point, and over Mac as well, but what do I know? Build the O Line, it's been some time since we both committed to the line, and got the correct players to make the OL a strength. Please god no to a WR, S, TE, G, etc.... If we don't have Slater ranked as a top 10 player, and Sewell is gone, trade back is acceptable, and preferred over the corner.
  21. If he could convince me that he was actually battling injuries, and not just mailing it in, I'm interested, otherwise...nah. Don't need an overpaid ready to retire guy around Brown.
  22. Hmmmmm let me think..... OL.
  23. I think that you need to define the term more. The best two in the game throw some gunslinger type passes all the time, they just complete a TON of them, and throw very few INT's. I don't consider Rodgers to be a gunslinger, in the typical sense, but he sure does do some gunslingery things out there on a weekly basis...while throwing 5 picks per season. Teddy isn't a game manager or a gunslinger, he's a backup QB.
