  1. Prospect? No. Would he have gone in the top 10? (Which is what you have to ask yourself) Yes.
  2. None of us know what we are going to do, but one thing that we do now know is that the Panthers don't have to panic, or give up the farm for a QB they may or may not be sold on. If the one that they covet after Trevor and Zach are gone, I'm sure we will consider strongly pulling the trigger. I'm pretty convinced though, that we have a few players that we would realistically pull the trigger on at 8 if they are there, and if they aren't, we may be looking to move back to "pay" for the Sam trade and select a Tier 2 tackle prospect or corner...again, just a hunch. Fitt set us up to where we can do what's best for the long term health of the team. If the QB is there, he can sit behind Sam, and we got some QB insurance in Sam that we would not have had otherwise...we DO NOT have to pick up his 5th year if said QB falls to us. That said, I'm not interested. Sewell, Slater, Surtain (I could maybe be talked into this) or trade back.
  3. Correct. Who has the better long term career? Probably Trevor, but the first few years? I'd guess Mac, especially if he's with Shanny.
  4. No thank you, unless we move back quite a bit. Can he play man and zone?
  5. If Slater or Sewell are there at 8 and we take a CB, I'm going to be pretty frustrated. If they are there at 8 and we slide back, and not for a Kings Ransom, I'm going to be very hungover on Friday.
  6. Came here to post this exact same thing after finally seeing the presser. Yep, same feeling. Fitt seems to know what he needs, and what Rhule wants, and looks to have a plan. They obviously get alone and seem to share a vision. I'm more relieved than I have been in damn near 20 years.
  7. I know he scares me, but didn't know how others viewed him. That's wild, thanks for the info.
  8. Have to be, right? I don't think that you can gamble on Lance there with that situation.
  9. Please please please no Sewell. Were it me, I'm probably taking the best WR prospect, and hoping to unload Jones after the season....big hope though. Pitts would intrigue me, but man I don't like TE's in the top end of the 1st.
  10. Ehhhhhh.... You have to be able to make every throw, that is for certain, but the bigger thing...you have to be willing to make said throw when needed. Teddy can make most every throw, so can Andy Dalton, Philip Rivers, and Tom Brady, none of them known to have power arms, the difference, all of them are willing to pull the trigger when it's time. Rivers being the most willing and Andy being the least. For Teddy, it's a non starter. Mac Jones looks to have an average to below average NFL arm, but, sure looks like he's willing to gamble on it sometimes. Personally, I don't LOVE the arm of any of these QB's not named Wilson. Fields can throw hard, Trevor has an above average NFL arm I believe.
  11. Don't want to derail, so I'm going to sit right here and say take the T prospect and run to the podium if he's there at 8. If we trade back, the haul better be steep. That said, I think what the team sees, is an intriguing athlete that has never had really good coaching, and was put into the worst possible situation coming into the league. They have to believe with their offense and stability they can revive him. I FULLY support this move over the move to bring in Teddy last season...that was just stupid all the way around. This was a good move, I have no clue if it will work, but it's a good one.
  12. No not possible...do you know what year it is? I'm keeping my fingers crossed, and betting on Rhule and Co. to be able to right the Sam Ship...hopefully they can. I MUCH prefer taking a pass on Sam over trading 2 1's to get the 3rd or 4th best QB in this draft...low risk, and possibly low reward, but at least it isn't franchise altering....meaning, I think it's worth the gamble.
  13. He will be traded or cut. That bridge has been burned.
  14. This would make me happier than when Star slid...and I was REAL happy then. Fingers crossed we don't overthink this. That said, Fitt and Rhule (especially) seem like guys that want players to compete...wonder how they will view opting out?
  15. Likely wouldn't agree to it with the cap so low, and the TV deals about to come. He wants to be 30 or under and get one more shot at a big payday. I like this signing a LOT. In a very weak DT draft, this makes me feel better. Now, address the O Line and Secondary.
  16. If you offered me the very best WR, TE, OT in the league...I could have my choice...I'm going with the OT. I hope that we do the same at 8, IF he's graded out that high...I don't think that any of these QB's are going to be in the top 5 in the league over the next 2/3 years.
  17. You looked at the contract? Stays on the roster, you have a 23M cap hit, cut as a June 1, you have a 10M cap hit...in a cap condensed year, it would be idiotic to keep him on the roster. We are going to have to pay to trade him, or more than likely cut him.
  18. Missing on Herbert by 1 pick makes me sad.
  19. Fields, Lance, Sewell are sitting there at 8. I'm either trading back 1 spot and taking Sewell. Taking Sewell. Or possibly pulling the trigger on Fields. I'm not interested in Lance, I'm lower than most on Fields, I'm really really wanting a top tier O Line.
  20. Good luck man. I've been fighting this fight for about 25 years. WAY too much political power coming out of Morehead/OBX and such to ever get our fisheries back to normal. Growing up you could catch something (maybe not what you wanted) for dinner every single fishing trip...these days, even with bottom finders, boats, trolling motors, very expensive tackle, much better fishing techniques, etc...you MIGHT get something that you CAN take home and eat. NC is controlled by the Triangle and Charlotte....the coast has very little say in Raleigh, and less representation. They WILL NOT go against the commercial fishing guys.
  21. Actually, not really. Smitty was cut, Norman wasn't. There is a difference.
  22. We have run a mom and pop shop in Charlotte for a long time now. I've been over it for years. Now, let's see if he sticks to those words. I don't give a poo how players "feel" about it. Do your job, or get moving.
  23. I'm not here to play 20 questions with you. Just telling you that I want no part of a TE in the top ten...of pretty much any draft...until we are "a piece away", and we ain't that. We have a lot of holes, and some of those holes are at much more important than TE....to ME. You can want whomever you like, end of the day, Robby, CMC, and DJ gotta get theirs, and I prefer to keep the QB upright more so than give him another weapon.
  24. 100% agree. I keep seeing over and over that Darnold would rank 3rd on a lot of boards if you threw him into this mix of QB's. If Fitt and Rhule saw the same thing, and concluded that the talent could be gotten for a 2nd while keeping your current top 10 pick and 2nd rounder.... I mean, I'm glad we missed on Stafford if we were going to have to pony up another 1st...I'm glad Houston didn't pick up the phone...this was plan C, but we are on plan C, not because of us, but because LA doesn't care about 1st and Watson couldn't keep his pants on.
  25. OK. I don't want a big bodied WR that you ask to block sometimes as the number 8 selection in the draft. How many touches per game do you think we could get him to? 6? Nah, give me a T that plays, and impacts every single offensive snap.
