  1. Low end is where you will want to be. When the payments start adding up, and the checks are gone...here comes the repo man...those folks will still need transport...so buy here pay here places will be in good shape. At least that's my hunch.
  2. Who called it a wasted pick? End of the day, drafting DT's in the top 10 is somewhat strange, but happens...normally to generational players...let's hope that Brown is one of those. This isn't hating on the player, he's a great player, but top 10 is usually reserved for different positions.
  3. This honestly didn't bother me. Best one in the nation, get him for cheap and guarantee 4 years salary at a position we were going to lose our starter this year or next.... Don't really like the idea of kicker either, but when you are like us, and overpay the position, it's a good idea to lock a very good one down on the cheap for 4 years. That's how you build a roster. Hurney was in charge then though, so roster construction was never considered.
  4. Headscratcher, every single move. But that's not surprising, he's done that his entire career. Tepper allowing himself to get played by Marty is one of his biggest mistakes so far...and there are a PILE of them.
  5. It really isn't, if you just followed his entire career here. I still laugh at most of this board falling into the "he's a smart guy, he had to learn from his mistakes" nonsense when he came back.
  6. No. 3 should be a mix up of Tremble, CMC, Arnold and Marshall...hopefully. Even having CMC healthy and a legit pass catcher at TE should take some pressure off the no. 3 role.
  7. He's a very good player, when on the field. That second part is the largest issue for him. Hits like a freight train...sorta old school TD ish.
  8. Agreed, and he likely is...smart guy. Wish we locked him up last offseason...but "business side of things first" and what not.
  9. No doubt, but we could use some luck at that position...it's been a while. Got lucky with Oher, signed him long term, and got super unlucky again. Black cat and all...
  10. 100% agree. Peyton is a very good coach, had a few years of bad rosters, but he was still a good coach.
  11. Can be, and will be are different things. Maybe with one position to work on, he can become an average to below average starter....not counting on it, but it COULD happen. Would be nice to luck into another Oher situation.
  12. I'd be fine with a losing season this year, so long as the team looks really competitive. If we give up, or get blown out consistently, I'm going to be pretty frustrated. I don't expect that to happen.
  13. I mean, technically, it is year two...but Hurney hamstrung us in the 1st year...like always. It's time to start winning either way.
  14. The difference between us and those with even lower win totals? We don't usually completely bottom out. We have had awful seasons that got us the no. 1 and 2 picks, but that is kinda rare in Panther land. We like to win a few meaningful games here or there just for funsies. End of the day we have had a poo ton more losing seasons than winning ones...not something to be proud of. Good news? Team seems to be trending upward. So, may as well strap it on and enjoy the ride, cause it's a new one.
  15. Because it doesn't really exist right now. Maybe there is a surprise cut, but at this point, with the league starving for good O Linemen, I wouldn't bet on it.
  16. Agreed. Sewell, then massive trade back haul while staying in the top 15, then Horn were the choices....it seems. The massive trade back haul never made it's appearance me thinks.
  17. Not sure if it's a stat, I never looked it up to confirm, but pretty sure I recall listening to an O Line podcast with our very own Schwartz where he mentioned that there is a higher injury risk due to muscle memory not being the same...said it was normally fine in practice, but not in games. I could be misremembering, but I'm pretty sure I'm not. I wouldn't mind getting some reps, but to switch, at his age, with that much experience at RT, including college...I just wouldn't agree to it. Want to cut that big ole fat contract making me one of the highest paid T's in the league, hell yea I'll do it....on the franchise tag? F Off.
  18. Agree with this. Even top end depth that can play 3/4 positions is GREAT for a 3rd rounder...compared to what we have been getting along the O Line. End of the day, my guess is he's starting on the inside by mid season.....maybe that's closer to a hope than a guess, but here we are.
  19. Risk of injury is higher, you are cemented at RT and going to be one of the highest paid T's in the league...why try to reinvent the wheel? Play where you are dominant, just my $.02 The money difference just isn't enough, IMO.
  20. Professionally, were I Moton, I would probably put my foot down on this move (if it's even a real thing).
  21. A lot more expensive than if we had prioritized his extension over Shaq's and CMC's. Off ball LB, or a RB coming off one of the best seasons of the past 20 years with 2 years remaining on his contract? Or one of the best RT's in the game when you have consistently been a bad O Line team for about 7 years?
  22. If it's close, you go with the younger, cheaper option that signed long term. Please don't Hurney this one.
  23. If you take into account years played in the NFCS, it has to be Steve, Julio, Roddy...I think. Thomas is making a push, as is Evans to take over Roddy's spot...but not there yet.
  24. We had a great offseason, even if we didn't get exactly what we wanted. We were in the hunt for the two most coveted QB's that were available in Stafford and Watson...Rams overpaid, and Watson couldn't keep his hands to himself...but we were in there. We came away with what many said would be the 2nd or 3rd QB taken in this draft if he were to have come out of USC with his physical skills and previous play....for a 2nd and some fluff...which we recouped in the draft. Also, became the youngest team in the league, when our division rivals are getting very long in the tooth... Am I frothing about Sam...nah, but I'm excited. I did NOT want Fields...just me, I'm sure many here will hold it against the Panthers for passing on him, but a lot of other teams did as well, and seemingly didn't WOW us with major trade bait to slide up...tells you how the rest of the league graded him as well. Are we going to make the playoffs? Probably not. Are we trending in the right direction? Hell yes. Also, there is no way we don't score in the top 16 as far as off seasons when the team actually fired Hurney...that alone should give us a top 10 grade.
