  1. Work weekends? My job required me to work most every weekend the first 10 or so years I was in the biz. Took off two days during the week.
  2. As long as the majority of the players that are on the field as starters, I want him taking snaps.
  3. While we aren't a "small market", we were an expansion team, and if you weren't into the NFL and/or were born prior to the 90's you have little to no attachment to the NFL or the Panthers. My parents for example, had the Panthers been around when I was growing up, I bet we would have gone to games, and my Dad and Mom may have been fans....but thats not the case, we simply had no attachment at all to the NFL, and my parents still aren't fans. There is some "legacy" issues still, but we are working on that.
  4. Congrats. Been an independent contractor for 20 years now, my one piece of advice if you haven't ever been on this side of the market. Pay your quarterly taxes. Some will say take 35% and set that aside for taxes and other clever confiscation measures that are in place....but after this many years, I'd say that's bad advice, and to just pay your quarterlies. Also budget, and learn to get really good at it. When you have no idea how much money you are going to make month in and month out, you need to be very careful and plan LONG TERM. I think in years now, not weeks like most people think about when looking at pay.
  5. If we can stay somewhat healthy, and that's a BIG IF when talking about our defense/corners....then I think 9 W's isn't out of the question. Young is likely better than what we had on the roster last season at QB, and I know that Dalton is. Somewhat capable QB play last season, and we don't get the 1 pick...I'm just glad Rhule is gone.
  6. May or may not be that Charlotte residents are fans of other teams...I find that to be likely as it's a "new" city and a banking one at that. Would tend to bring in a lot of NY, NJ, and DC....add in it's one of busiest/easiest airports in the US to get in and out of, and opposing fans in the stadium doesn't surprise me. But, end of the day, we are an expansion NFL team in the South, which is dominated by college football and basketball....and not so much pro sports. RR does a great job, and I'd recommend to everyone to support it if you can.
  7. Y'all seen Disneys stock price over the last 2 years? March 21': $190 per share. Today: $90 per share. That's ROUGH. They will be looking at cost cutting everywhere, and will start with the biggest loser on the balance sheet....which his probably ESPN if I had to guess.
  8. Even me, as a "beach guy" go to the actual sand/beach twice a year. Once on Jan 1 for the Polar Plunge, and 1 other time to appease my wife, but normally she goes without me...so about 1.5 trips to the "beach" per year. I do jump on the boat and go to sandbars, inlets with shoals, etc....I miss out on the "public"....thank God.
  9. They don't really like the taste of us, why there are so few deaths vs. bites. Usually it's in "dirty" or "confused" water and they can't discriminate us from it's actual fare. If you see schools of fish in the waves as they crest, you should get out of the water. Once it breaks, and it's mixed with water, fish, bubbles, your legs, blue fish....the sharks are just zooming through snapping at anything that resembles a fish.
  10. Wondering, since teams really don't have much power in the run game, if it's just better to have more CB's than traditional S's? Are they just simply a liability, and now it's just better to draft/acquire some Corners who don't mind tackling? Also, would love to look at the average sizes of the WR's today vs. prior generations. Size was a MAJOR deal when drafting WR's high back when...not so much these days. TO, Fitz, Megatron, our very own Key. There has to be a reason, and it can't be that DC's have forgotten how to use them. Who knows.
  11. This was my favorite part as well...for a couple of reasons. 1: The coaches AND FO have an idea of player value, and share them fairly closely. 2: Our coaches know EXACTLY the type of player that will excel in their scheme/system. For the first time ever, I'm comfortable with both the coaching staff, and the front office.
  12. It seems to me that the S position has fallen down the rankings of "most important positions". Only about 10 years ago, there were Superstar S's all over the place. I have a bit of a theory on why.
  13. Him and CMC have been my draft crushes that we've landed over the past number of years. Thought both could be tops at their positions.
  14. Haha...so you are one of the few who DO know. They don't really bother me, until they start chasing me, or one of the big Bulls or Tigers show up....then I'm retreating toward the boat...slowly...and never letting them out of my view. Want to go back down, but haven't since my son was born...not quite the risk take I used to be.
  15. Hahaha, you got no idea man. There are a LOT more out there than you think. Not uncommon to dive on a wreck just offshore in about 35-45' and see dozens and dozens. Shoot a fish, and you get to see even more.
  16. Just learn to spot rips. Every single beach is different and every tide/wind can change what it was just an hour ago.
  17. Been in the water my entire life, boater, diver, spearfisher, surfer, etc....I was a lifeguard at a well known beach here in NC many moons ago, and was an EMT as well, specializing in ocean and swift water rescue. I'm a fish, and even I won't go into the ocean sometimes if it's ripping, unless I have flotation. DO NOT let your children go into the ocean without you keeping your eyes on them and you yourself being at least in the water, less than waist deep. Learn to spot rips while picking your spots, and for God sake, take floatation with you so that if you have to go get someone you don't die. Even a cheap boogie board with the wrist leash on will save you and/or your victim....a blow up raft/toy won't do it...you will lose it. Rule no. 1. DO NOT PANIC. If you do, you will die.
  18. No...again, not worth a top 15 pick. Look at the direct payback for the team that drafted them, not where they ended up. The POINT? It's much easier to get a TE through FA or later in the draft and not burn that capitol on that specific position. Of every position, on the field, TE would be near the bottom for me with a high 1.
  19. That's my point. If we can't find a single one over the course of the modern NFL, I'm not willing to bet on us getting the ONE. You do you man, but that position is a job loser for GM's.
  20. Not trying to get into an argument, but when in the last 20 years has a top 15 pick at TE been worth it?
  21. If you played at a viciously competitive high school, or at any college level...you see the enabling start at very young ages...especially to those with talent. Once you are playing D1...it goes to another level all together, and certainly with starters. I lived with a player (non starter) of a big D1 school in college (off campus), and hung out with a lot of players (starters)....these guys could get away with damn near anything short of murder. This was in the early 00's...I think a lot of that has been cleaned up now, or it seems to be from the outside looking in. If you are old enough to remember the NFL of the 80's, to look back at that era, and compare it to today....it's a different game/feel completely.
  22. Tremble's first two years in the league are somehow better than Hurst's first two...maybe even, but whatever, not much difference. 1: That is amazing, considering the coaching staff and QB play during that time. 2: It's why I'm NEVER ok with drafting TE high....ever. Just take too long to pan out.
  23. Living in the country > Living in the city.
  24. Strange...similar story, Dr. was almost a little mad. And ended up dropping over 40 lbs. I'm back wearing the same exact belt that I wore for my first "big boy" job after college, remember my boss telling me to buy it "buy once cry once" was his motto. Had not seen the light of day for over 15 years.
