  1. If you can run, and play good defense...it's kinda stupid to throw it around the stadium all day. He wins, and he's gotten to the big games...meaning, if he wants to, or needs to, his offense can sling it...if not, they will just beat you to death with their backs and call it a day. With this O Line, and us not having a legit QB...I'd assume that's what he would be planning here as well.
  2. I'm not opposed to him coming in, and think that he has the best chance for long term (5 years) success of all the coaches out there. That said, don't want him to have full control, probably not in the cards. What we really need is a Head of Football Operations, but Tepper isn't going to do that, so this likely has the best chance of working out. I think his problems in SF were with Baalke, IIRC?
  3. Supervisor....not really IMO. Closer to General Manager of a very expensive and busy restaurant. You have the tie and suit on, you are addressing issues as they happen in real time, and prior to opening that night, had planned out the dinner service in VERY fine detail. Something goes wrong...it's on YOU...and you alone to fix it and fast. There is so much happening all around you, and you need to understand every single bit of it while making very tough decisions to keep this train on the tracks...it's trying to fly off all the time. You had picked your chef, sous chef, pastry cook, and entire front of the house prior to opening the doors that night, you don't have to worry about them because you know they will do a great job....if you can keep the I's dotted and T's crossed. That's closer to how I see a Head Coach in the NFL. Possessing extreme knowledge of the X's and O's so you can plan ahead of time, and also have the ability to make TOUGH choices in the middle of chaos, while being a leader of men. Couple bad (read conservative/careful) choices and the evening is ruined...and you may need to have a chat with the owner. I think that Wilkes knows football, I think that he's a leader of men, however I don't think he possesses any better ability to plan for his opponents or make in game decisions than Ron and Foxy.
  4. Haha. I think it may have been around the boxing world for a while...not sure where it came from, but I heard it growing up...especially about football and fighting.
  5. You not from the country? Haha. Car with no brakes....not under control. You beat someones ass and they are staggering sideways or falling down....not under control.
  6. Let's agree to disagree...but if I were ranking: Carruth Tepper Rhule
  7. Just play football and win games, that's how you do this Mr. Brown.
  8. Fine by me...but bring in someone that can really help on the defensive side of the ball....ex head coach type guy.
  9. I look at fandom completely different. The only "voice" a season ticket holder has isn't his money, that's gone...it's what color he chooses to put in the seat. I refuse to financially support this team an any way until they operate competently, and if I were a ticket holder this season you can bet your ass I'd have those seats full of opposing teams colors.
  10. Not quite. He admitted he didn't pay attention to the "football side of things in Pittsburgh"....1st question if he ever dreamed of owning a team was Why TF not? So he admits he doesn't know what he's doing, then proceeds to keep in place a GM that is and was a failure to help him "learn the ropes". Trusting Marty Hurney, with his history here, makes you pretty F'ing stupid. Not hiring a "Colbert" type, even when seeing the results of that type of team dynamic first hand, makes you stupid. https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/stupid
  11. Unfortunately, I do think he's that stupid. He's yet to make a good football decision since he's been welcomed as the owner of the Panthers. That's HARD to do.
  12. To the OP...all I can say, is that I hope not. Feels like it's just another copy and paste of Foxy and Ron.
  13. What have you seen Tepper do so far that proves he's not that stupid? I've got nothing.
  14. The only move that he's made that I've liked since he got here was remedying his largest F up from before...firing Rhule. Somehow almost every single decision he's made has been the wrong one. I've often said that I'd rather gather up 100 random people to lead this country vs. the politicians that we have in place...I feel the same about the owner of the Panthers. IMO, you could take just about any person on this Earth that has watched or played football ever in their life, make them the owner of the Panthers and they couldn't have F'd up any worse than Tepper has so far. That's hard to accomplish, and he was a minority owner in the past...
  15. When you are a defensive HC, you are scared to death for the other team to score...an offensive HC...not nearly as worried about it...they know they can just score more. This type of mindset is why I'm really nervous about Wilks as our next HC. Ready for a change personally.
  16. If you make the most money (most game purchases) then you deserve the most revenue from the league. Would force teams to try to get more fans, build better teams, and have better outreach and marketing. I like competition, even at the owner level.
  17. IMO, this would be the best option. Cowboys bring in 9% of league revenue, thats how much they get paid out at the end of the year. Salary cap would remain the same league wide, with spending minimums as well. What it would ultimately do is incentivize (force) the shitty owners to do better. The more you win, the more eyeballs (game by game subscriptions) would be on your product. Pump out the Texans this year, or us over the past two...and the owners start to feel it in the wallet. The way it is now is too socialistic for my taste.
  18. Yea mentioned it in the Boze thread....a Cousins type QB could push this team into the playoffs pretty quickly. I'm all for drafting one, bringing in a vet (even if it has to be Darnold on the cheap), and continuing to develop Corral if the new staff thinks there is anything there.
  19. Gotta give Fitt's a hat tip here. He's built a really good offensive line, and what seems to be a very good secondary...maybe need a FS that can run...but seems good. Now if we can find a QB, and fix the middle of the defense...I know, tall ask...but we aren't far from at least competing if we can do that. Hell, even a Cousins or Tannehill type QB could make this roster a playoff one.
  20. Now that we have an offensive line, and Hurney is long gone, RB's won't hold the same value here. But sure, I'd offer him mid level deal for 2 years.
  21. Yup. Try to get him on a 2 or 3 year deal, all guaranteed would be my guess...and he'll prolly sign it.
  22. I always thought he would be a good extension. The CB's who flash and get 9 picks sound nice...but gimme JB...just never allows completions, doesn't miss games, and doesn't get in trouble on or off the field. Great Pro.
  23. My all time favorite coach. RIP.
