  1. Will some of you stop with the bad Bryce takes now? No? Carry on.
  2. Let's try to at least wait September out until we begin saying that our O-line consistency and depth are "HUGE" problems. Hell, I'd say give it four or five games. Ickey is still very young, as are a few of the guys, and, like it or not, it takes time to knock the rust off.
  3. No, I didn't see Newton. Newton was a much smoother passer, and more patient in the pocket. Anthony Richardson may develop into a more accurate passer, but I doubt it. He may develop into a guy that can throw a pass with touch, but I have my suspicions. He can certainly learn to make better decisions but never get to an elite level, because in my experience that's something that doesn't come naturally to guys that rely on their legs and strength too much (like a Newton or a Josh Allen). Dude has a long way to go. And for all you guys still secretly (or not so secretly) wishing that we had picked AR, go root for the gotdamn Colts. Bryce Young is far and ahead a better QB, and it's likely going to stay that way because football is not only in his blood, but the traits that make guys elite for the long haul come naturally to him.
  4. Didn't he say that he was going to write a hit piece on Ickey over the hot mic? Well, here it is. I'm going to continue to believe (until I don't) that Ickey is just rusty. If he's still making glaring mistakes by October with regularity, then I'll be concerned.
  5. You have a right to your opinion, but as one who has watched most of Chark's catches, I disagree that he's only a one-trick pony (though a deep threat is important also). He also makes catches that move the chains, and he is a solid red zone threat. Chark also has great hands and phenomenal ball tracking skills. All you have to do is watch his catches. Is he going to juke people like Moore, or take a hit and keep on going like Smitty, or like what we saw Mingo do? No. But his skills should not be underappreciated.
  6. I mean, that's easy to say, but Chark is younger and more explosive than Thielen (who is on the wrong side of 30). Of course, it's all for naught if he can't seem to stay on the field. On the field though, Chark can really hang with the best of them. A healthy Chark is a receiver to be reckoned with. The only reason I am even saying that Mingo is more important is because we just drafted him. We think that he can be a Pro Bowl receiver, but Chark has been there. Again, don't get me wrong, his injuries have overshadowed his skill. If Chark doesn't work out, I'd like to think that TMJ can, but that's just hope (unless he proves it). That being said, If I'm Fitt, I'm not relying on Thielen or TMJ in 2024, I'm acquiring new blood.
  7. On paper, I'm still taking 2023. Chark, Mingo, Shenault and TMJ were all second rounders. Thielen has been a legit go-to quasi WR1. Take 89 from 2011, and it gets ugly immediately. Not even a half dozen red Solo cups of Hunch Punch will make that look good.
  8. Well since you brought it up, I'll say that I have no problem with Huddlers getting warned, but I have three issues in general. 1. Warnings need to be meted out equitably. I understand that you must use judgement in any specific situation, but you can't warn one when another in that specific situation has obviously done the same thing. 2. The same forum member shouldn't receive two warnings from two different mods with two different outcomes for the exact same infraction. That's akin to douchebaggery by the second mod, punishing you when one mod has already warned you. 3. I think that mods are able to "hide" in the sense that you won't even take messages about said warnings in order for Huddlers to make their case if they so desire Points 1 and 2, I just will never understand as it speaks to justice and fairness. Point 3? Well it would be nice. Sometimes appeals are justified (sometimes not). Just my two cents (especially being that @Zod seems to be letting the prisoners run the asyluml).
  9. Yeah, I think that the cost to trade up for Corral was simply your average run-of-the-mill trade during a draft. It's a swing with relatively minimal cost. As for Rhule giving Corral a legit shot, I believe that was his intent until Baker Mayfield really became feasible. I think that once we were able to acquire Baker for relatively cheap, Rhule flipped the whole script for Corral. Corral had a decent situation turn into the worst situation possible. He was not put into the best situation to be developed, much less succeed.
  10. We'll have to wait and see, but 2023 has more potential.
  11. Frank's soft plays makes everything softer...
  12. That took its time coming out. I'm becoming a little apprehensive about Laviska's viability. I think that he'll still be safe if we only keep three RBs.
  13. What I'm saying is that some of our players were playing average to decent football notwithstanding a bad W-L record and not necessarily being put into the best situations to succeed.
  14. They did not forget how to play. Don't get a losing record, bad coaching, sketchy QB play, injuries and such mixed up with forgetting how to play.
  15. Dude, I'm not just looking at two preseason games. Ickey did damned well last season. Do you think he just forgot how to play? Do you think Shaq, Woods, Jones, Bozeman, T-mo and even some of the others have forgotten how to play at a high level based upon two fuging preseason games? Do you think guys like Campen have forgotten how to coach? I'm asking you too @Stumpy. If this is what you believe, then I have nothing for you.
  16. So there has been no proficient execution? I think you're wrong. There has been inconsistency of execution, but some of these guys have proven that they can execute at a high level.
  17. They are referring to preseason wins and losses. Anyone trying to suggest otherwise is being pretentious.
  18. "It doesn't matter win or loss, it matters the way they went about their business tonight." --John Harbaugh (in this video) That's what the point of preseason is, and what determines that are the goals that are set by the coaches. Harbaugh, just like you are trying to do in this thread, is really using a straw man. No one here is saying that preseason doesn't matter, and I personally have never seen a reporter write that preseason doesn't matter. Everyone knows it matters, but wins and losses in preseason are largely not the measure of "success" during the regular season. Everyone knows that preseason games matter to the guys who are actually trying to develop and prove that they deserve to be in the NFL.
  19. There's really no way to tell where we would be or who we'd have picked up. You have to live life as it comes. You can play the "if game" for every decision that you make. Sometimes you make good decisions. Sometimes you make bad decisions. Making bad decisions will cost you, but you can't stay in a state of inertia or throw in the towel and expect to make progress. It's too soon after the Rhule era to think that everything's going to be fixed during one off-season, and it's really to soon to be judging our depth after a couple of preseason games after one off-season since Rhule was fired. I mean, the second and third string guys didn't look too bad against the Giants.
  20. I would think that Corral makes it, if for nothing else, so we can have an emergency QB on standby on game days.
  21. I said nothing about him being any of the above. He's obviously a relatively inexperienced QB in his sophomore season. You can't discount him this early in the game, especially when he's reportedly been solid.
  22. I really don't know what at this point makes you think that Desmond Ridder won't be around. His needle has actually been trending upward since the end of last season.
