  1. Don't understand that 3rd down play call.
  2. Honestly, you can't put Hill in man at the LOS and expect good results
  3. I'm just wondering why Tepper, Fitterer and company ever thought that Reich was some type of offensive play calling guru. Fitterer and Morgan have seen enough football to know that Reich ain't the business. Someone had to lead Tepper down the wrong path. Simplistic schemes just aren't going to fool anybody in the modern NFL.
  4. In the spirit of the OP, I will say that even if we end up with the worst record, we will still have the first pick in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th round.
  5. The fact is, minus an interception or two, Bryce has been taking progressive baby steps. Some people think they're seeing Bryce Young's ceiling, but in their drunken anger and frustration, they don't realize that they could just as easily be looking at his floor. Nice post. Keep pounding!
  6. It was hardly crying. He got back at Jeudy in a very apropos way. Jeudy is the one who will be affected the most. His agent probably told him to STFU. Expect to see 89 in London...
  7. Let's not forget that Schlereth slammed Jeudy for lack of effort a couple of days prior to Smitty trying to show the kid some grace. Sure, it would have been nice, and perhaps politically correct, had Smith tried to give Jeudy some advice before calling him a JAG on his podcast, but he wasn't obligated to do it. Jeudy surely hasn't been PC at times. He's been downright disrespectful, and this is just the latest instance of it. Smitty reacted negatively, but I'd still bet that you see him in London while Jeudy doesn't "remember" the incident in the meantime.
  8. If Jeudy had acted like a mature man and actually talked it out, instead of acting out like an immature kid, this isn't a topic right now either. Steve Smith didn't get "out of pocket" until Jeudy did. Smith has every right to criticize Jeudy on his show. He may have been a little hard in his analysis on his show, but that doesn't mean that he was wrong. He reassessed his opinion and was trying to show Jeudy some grace (however undeserved).
  9. I just listened. I think that KJ had the best take. He said that they both were wrong. Let's not forget that 89 approached him to apologize.
  10. I'm going to go listen if I can find it.
  11. Talk to a player like what? He wasn't talking to Jeudy who was basically being an "unprofessional" clown "all in his feels," because Jeudy didn't want to [mess] with the [ninja]. If a player gets mad at being called out by analysts, the best way to handle it is by proving the analysts wrong with your play on the field. Jeudy decided to go the way of the ass because of what Smitty said on his posdcast, so Smitty got back with him in a decidedly professional manner.
  12. Well, his colleagues apparently don't think so.
  13. Suspended. L O L Oh, the hate. L O L This is posted right on NFL.com. https://www.nfl.com/videos/gmfb-reacts-to-steve-smith-describing-jerry-jeudy-as-just-a-guy
  14. My claim isn't absurd. The fact that you're still trying to defend your unsubstantiated response is absurd. Furthermore, you keep saying things like "back pedaling" and "moving goalposts" which I have not done. I said it and I own it, and I believe it's probably true. Plain and simple.
  15. Come on, man. If he wants to call Jeudy JAG, that's totally acceptable. Some of y'all are taking this way out of context and way too seriously. Smitty's job is to analyze and that's exactly what he did (albeit in a creative way that did not skirt the line). No one would ever refer to Smitty as JAG. No former Panthers player would ever criticize him for not giving his craft his full effort.
  16. I haven't moved any goalposts and I stick by my statement. The fact that you don't seem to understand that most rookie QBs suck and are below average their rookie season is telling. I haven't piled on anyone. That's some b.s. narrative that you made up. It's just not my style. I say what I have to say, and I do so generally after much time. The only person that I even made an early assessment on was Mike Shula, and I still didn't pile on him. As far as any other Panthers QB, Baker and Darnold included, show me anywhere where I just piled on them. Like I said, it's simply not my style. Even still, there's a difference between "piling on" a seasoned vet who already has a substantial body of work and a rookie. I may criticise, with substance to back it up, but I'm not going to just throw out general comments, or come to obviously premature decisions. Like I said, most analysts have said the same thing. Even the guy who pointed out that there were concerns about the beginning of Bryce's early career, in the thread that I started, said that it's way too early to draw any conclusions (and he isn't even an exclusive Panthers fan, if he's one at all). For the record, I did use "probably," but you conveniently overlooked that fact, and, secondly, this thread isn't about some decidedly innocuous statement, whether you believe it's "ridiculous" or not, it's about the fact that a rookie with less than a handful of games has essentially been labeled a bust---a lost cause, so much so that people are piling on him, regardless of his four game career, and regardless of the context. That's the real issue here, and all the other stuff is just a diversion.
  17. You find the last post interesting? You haven't even provided any context. Anyway...you can believe what you want. If you think that it makes sense to constantly bash Bryce, then have at it. To me, it's simply nonsensical at this point.
  18. Honestly, there's no one definitively "better" to get, at least not any that I want to pay for. I'm choosing my day one and day two draft picks before I'm paying for any receiver that's out there and suspected to be on the trade block.
  19. Let's not get an 89 roast confused with discussion about acquiring Jeudy. For me, it's always about value and setting realistic expectations. Jeudy is not a one---certainly hasn't proven it---but he's still a talented guy. Admittedly, I didn't realize the depth of the baggage, but still...
  20. First off, prove it's untrue! Bryce was bashed even BEFORE he was a Panther, repeatedly! That's pretty crazy...anyway. The other guys, save for maybe P.J., had seasons up under their belts, and no one expected Walker to be the savior anyway, ever. And, to be honest, no one with any sense expected Teddy or Darnold to come in here and magically turn into QBs that they are not. You talk about them being called on their bad play. That's what you do with established vets, and to be honest it is to be expected. But you know what most knowledgeable NFL types dont do? they don't beat down a rookie QB for being a rookie QB after four damned games. Who does that? People who are totally delusional that thought they're crappy team and brand new (and maybe crappy) coaching staff was a lot farther along than reality would suggest. And, I'd argue that Teddy wasn't even bad, he was just Teddy. Walker was from the XFL (enough said), and Darnold was, at most, a below average QB when we acquired him. He was broken and needed to be fixed. Bryce is a rookie! Even though we traded up to get him---paid a big price---he's still a rookie with only FOUR GAMES under his belt---less than a handful of games---but some people think that he's supposed to come in here and be Peyton Manning (who threw 28 INTs as a rookie and basically sucked). A great amount of patience is required for a rookie, but, sure, there is going to be some criticism. Some criticism is to be expected. But, the fact is, that people are making definitive statements and even starting threads about how Bryce is essentially a bust and how we made the wrong decision after only four damn games. To me, that's what's ridiculous.
  21. That's obvious. The problem is that people are acting like they don't know how this works. You can't really draw well-thought-out, definitive conclusions about a QB after a season sometimes, much less four games, and you can't get a clear picture when the context of a rookie staff, young players and new schemes have to be mastered as well, which affect every aspect of the offense.
  22. There needs to be a bash Bryce thread for those that are impatient with letting a rookie QB actually develop. Bryce has been bashed more in six months here probably than Teddy, Phillip, Sam and Baker put together. I realize that some of you had otherworldly expectations, but dial them back and be realistic for once. This was never going to be a sprint. Bryce is not the origin of the Panthers' ills. Let's sit back and watch how he develops and give him a fair look.
