Remember how it was reported that Fitterer had built all these relationships across the league? He was also lauded as an evaluator IIRC. Tepper doesn't seem to be learning anything. He has to hear all the noise...unless he's stuck his fingers in his ears.
-
Well, I'm of the opinion that fans do deserve answers because we're the ones supporting the teams. If a GM can't answer---however generic--how he'll be different than a failed GM, then fans have a right to voice criticism.
-
No, it's defined by his, and if he was amen-ing all of those bad decisions, then fans have every reason to be skeptical.
-
And the fact is, I haven't said that it's a bad hire. I haven't said that Dan hasn't worked hard and all that. What's that got to do with whether or not Morgan is or isn't going to bring something similar to the last few years?
-
Throwing poo against the wall? Morgan was the Assistant GM, under a GM that lauded collaboration (as well as the HC and owner), during the worst era in franchise history. And you have the nerve to tell me that I am throwing poo against the wall. Dude, come on, I know you're not this obtuse. You're the one with the attitude, "just because we don't agree."
-
Morgan may get a clear pass from some of you just because he's an ex-player and all that, but he ain't getting one from me. I'm going to wait to see what evolves, for sure, and hope for the best, but considering the circumstances, anyone that blames someone for skepticism is way off base.

It's not about the previous GM, it's about how he will be different, and I believe it's a very valid question. Any incoming GM should be able to answer that.

Dennis Cox is not down with the Dan Morgan Hire for the same reason that some here aren't. Chris Lea says that in Morgan's first presser, reporters need to ask some specific questions, and he's right. Depending upon how Morgan answers the questions will probably give us some insight as to how this next iteration of David Tepper's hires will go. Just paraphrasing a little in no certain order: 1. How are you going to be different from Scott, Dan? 2. Dan, do you have autonomy to make decisions without interference from Dave? 3. What about the management and handling of draft assets, Dan? Dan's got some explaining to do. I think that fans deserve some answers after this last few years.

Like I said: not gonna get too high or too down until I begin seeing actual work.

QB Quandary: 2024 Draft, FA Stopgap, or Stand Pat?
top dawg replied to rayzor's topic in Carolina Panthers
Drafting young competition and continuing to improve other parts of the team are not mutually exclusive. I'm not quite sure why so many are acting like they are. If you're questioning the viability of your guy, in my opinion it's irresponsible not to keep feeding the pipeline. -

One pick on some competition ain't gonna hurt anything in the grand scheme of things. -

If we don't do something, I predict a sea of blue seats at The Bank in Charlotte on Sundays. I don't know how that will affect the morale of coaches, players and fans for the overall viability of the season. I don't know that an aging vet is enough to inject enough juice to fuel any excitement. A young blood might. -

The Last 3 Drafts We Had 22 Total Selections...

It would mean more to me if there was a comparison with other teams. Three seasons is really not that long of time for players to fully develop, especially under disjointed coaching. But, yes, I suspect that we haven't been up to par with most teams, especially not the elite ones. -

What good is vet competition really going to achieve? Honestly, at many times vets should win by default because they are more experienced. I have little doubts that Andy Dalton wouldn't have put us into a better position to win a few more games this past season. I also believe, like in many cases, that a vet will win a competition if all things are equal--like time with the ones--by simply performing better. I also think that coaches give high first round picks the benefit of the doubt, or the defacto win, because that's what GMs and/or owners want after investing so much into a player in the modern NFL, where patience is not the priority and time is perceived as of the essence due to rookie contracts. Moreover, if a vet (who you know is a Band-Aid) were to legitimately win a competition, then you're likely going to push your draft position lower and lower, right out of the top 10 (where it naturally should be), and possibly enter the no-man's-land where QBs aren't necessarily franchise level, but just good enough to keep you in perpetual frustration; that, or either you have to give some other team a king's ransom to move up. I just don't see the sense in a "competition" with a vet QB. To me, the better plan is to take a swing in the draft and acquire someone with talent that can also be developed, and just might surprise you. From what I've seen of Young thus far, he is beatable in a real competition by another young gun (like a Spencer Rattler or Bo Nix). Someone like that could at least push Young in theory, and maybe with their very presence. -

If you can't knock Mahomes out this year, when is it going to happen? This was Allen's best opportunity. The same goes for the rest of the league. The Chiefs have screwed up Mahomes' and Andy's receivers this year. You know Andy isn't going to allow it to happen again. -

I ain't bandwagoner, I am a Panthers fan. I appreciate good football and good football players though. Maybe you weren't talking poo about Lamar during the off-season. If not, you have my apologies. -

Maybe hate for Mahomes and KC winning all the time will make some finally root for Lamar. -
