The More I Hear, The More I like Dave Canales
top dawg replied to chknwing's topic in Carolina Panthers
It's just a little too early to say that for me. I have to see what we do in FA and the draft before I make my mind up. But, today, I really can't see more than three wins (so it would be a miracle to get to six). -

I'm hearing it, but he's going to have to show me something before I get hyped. -
Does Canales mean we go hard after Mike Evans?

Baker would never ever come back here, not that anyone would want him. -

I'd still prefer Tee. I don't think that it'll play any part. Why would Evans want to come to an organization that's rebuilding at his age? -
Oh, Reich. Yeah, that makes sense (as in nonsense).

David, hi, some questions about this hire

Canales and Morgan are here because no one else wanted to be here. Just accept it.- 73 replies

Who? Who wanted Carr?

In a perfect world, that's probably a good plan anyway.

I didn't see any such worship, so I'd imagine that you're being hyperbolic. Having varying amounts of patience before you lose it is not akin to worship.

A 2.4 percent drop rate? C'mon, man. Terrace is fair game, Mingo is coming off a rookie year with a train wreck for an organization.

You're saying that just because people were patient with Fitterer that this means that they should automatically be patient with Morgan (or Canales). To me, that's not necessarily true. It's preference and how one deems the state of the franchise. Obviously people are more likely to be less patient in 2024 than 2021.

Donnelly: Process used to hire Morgan was wrong
top dawg replied to top dawg's topic in Carolina Panthers
Where'd you hear that Morgan wanted Stroud? Was he against all the boneheaded trades that we've made? -
Until I am shown something, I'm not gonna get too excited or too low with one caveat: if they start spewing GM-speak and coach-speak, I'm pushing back with a vengeance
-
Oh, he does that to you too? LOL

I don't follow the logic. It is an entirely different situation. We're like three seasons deeper into the toilet, with a decidedly worse roster, and still not necessarily a franchise QB.
-
Me too, but what are we gonna do: go root for the Cowboys?
-
I think that we'll hear plenty of optimism---optimism that seems delusional---about Bryce Young and how much Canales loves and believes I him (and how Morgan loves and believes in Young as well at his presser).
-
Morgan got his guy. Perhaps we should all rejoice. We can at least fool ourselves into thinking that Morgan told Tepper--who we all know wanted Johnson--to effectively "put a sock in it."

"Only one year of coordinator experience"

It's probably the best we were going to do considering the circumstances. No other interviews for Morgan or Canales. Might turn out good because we need a real commitment. Might not because no one was knocking down their doors for a reason. In any event, time to root for them. -
Donnelly: Process used to hire Morgan was wrong

We're all pro Morgan in the sense that we hope that he does well, but there isn't any concrete evidence that we should be all giddy about the hire. Like I said in another thread, the proof will be in the product on the field, but I will be scrutinizing what he says at the initial presser as GM. If he says anything to the effect that we're not that far away, I will cringe. If he references that they have a lot of work to do to build the franchise into a winner, then I'll believe there is some hope. -
Time to change thread title to "Panthers hired Dave Canales as HC"
